I would hate to have to shoot a dog; justified or not. There are other options. But my chances of being attacked by a highly trained security dog are up there with winning the lottery. Don’t take what I am saying wrong. I’m not saying someone wouldn’t be justified in a dog attack. I’m just saying I personally can’t imagine a situation where it would go that far. Interesting video. But in real life I suspect you would have killed those dogs in every one of those attacks. They couldn’t have stopped you from whatever bad stuff it was you were doing, they could have only allowed a handler to act.

Like everything it depends on your situation. I wouldn’t put a gun safe in the garage. I also see a gun safe as secure storage, and to slow burglars down, not to protect firearms in a fire. Insurance is for fire protection. Guns and jewelry surviving a fire in a safe has been argued at great lengths. The answer is always…it depends.

TeamViewer has been free for private use for years. Its how they get referrals for businesses. It’s cost prohibitive for personal use IMO. They shut me off because they said the Assisted Living facilities are deemed commercial buildings and I need to buy a license.

Thanks Bill, It appears to me that Splashtop uses two apps, Splashtop Business app for the control PC, and Steamer for the PC’s you want to control?? If I want to control my main PC from any other PC, I install both apps on all machines? I tried to get this out of them on a chat, but I’m not sure we were understanding each other. So it looks like for $99 a year I can have it on 10 PC’s. That seems reasonable if it works. My parents have minimal PC skills and because of their age, its gotten worse. If I can’t get someone that works there to install it, I’m wondering if I could talk them through it. Is it difficult to install? I think I'll download a trial, but just thought I'd ask you first.

I don’t want the Feds in charge of carry permits. A state that doesn’t want you to carry; isn’t going to allow it. However, you aren’t going to force any states into submission, so that will be the end of it. The only way we will ever be able to carry in all states is if the SCOTUS has a decision that carrying a concealed handgun is a 2nd amendment right. I don’t see that happening either.

No, that requires 10 PRO, which I have, but they do not. They are still on 7 Home. I discussed making that change with them…. but that involves CHANGE. When you are 90 and can’t remember anything; change is not good. I did a chat with SPLASHTOP and they said they support Win 7.

I used the free TeamViewer to help my elderly parents with their PC issues. Recently they moved into assisted living and are locked down due to Covid. While trying to resolve an issue with their PC, TeamViewer locked me out and said I was a suspected “commercial user”. After submitting a form to be “unblocked” I was refused. I emailed sales, and an agent called me. She explained that an assisted living facility is a commercial building and I was out of luck. So much for helping the elderly during this pandemic. Anyway…. I need software to be able to access their PC. Splashtop at $100 a year looks like a good option. Anyone using it? The next issue will be getting something installed. They can’t do it, and the facility doesn’t allow access by the public. Thanks for any recommendations.

I would bet the “no reloads” is a safety concern, and probably an insurance issue. The few azzhats that blew up their gun and then posted it on the internet, blaming everyone but themselves, ruined it for the many that reload safely. You can’t let those kind of people around normal folks without strict supervision, or having medical personnel on standby. I would bet the insurance for some of these indoor ranges that are smack dab in the middle of commercial areas is pretty high.

Most people that have it don’t require hospitalization. You can test positive and be asymptomatic. I doubt Trump would have gone to the hospital had he not been President. On the other hand, you can get it and die. Because of the Politics and the money involved I doubt we will ever know for sure what the numbers are, or why specific people want to manipulate the numbers. My wife works at a large company and the number of people testing positive is remaining steady. To me its like gun safety, I’m not afraid of it, but I treat it with respect and practice precautions and safety.

That might fly if you were being charged under state law…. unless of course the prosecutor doesn’t have that same interpretation, or charges under Federal law. Because the BATF is crystal clear. And Federal law trumps state law.

Just be aware that Inland manufacturing is not the same Inland (GM) that produced the original M1’s. With all this non-sense going on right now, it’s a hard time to find anything. But CMP M1’s could usually be found in the $1K range. I wouldn’t spend the money on a copy, especially if they are approaching the price of the real deal. I sold mine in 2016 and they were pretty easy to find. I wasn’t impressed with the gun or the caliber, and didn’t want the money tied up in something I didn’t shoot. I think a Ruger Mini14 or even an AR would make a better rifle for that application. (Compact Ranch Rifle)

We saw this coming. I don’t believe a desk jockey at the BATF should be allowed to make judgements that could land a person in jail. We saw it with bump stocks and we saw with braces. Do they violate the letter of the law? The courts or congress will decide that, but they clearly violate the intent of the law. They make these ridiculous decisions, and then they put a statement on their web site that they do not carry the rule of law. So in other words, you are own your own, you are at the mercy of the legal system whenever it becomes an issue. Gun owners are more than happy to get onboard with decisions they like; even when common sense tells them it’s a violation. You need to be crystal clear on what you are doing. AR Pistols are being cranked out everyday. They are SBR’s, that’s fine, then they can remove them from the NFA while they are removing suppressors.
