Two juveniles charged for starting Sevier Co. wildfires
DaveTN replied to xsubsailor's topic in General Chat
Depending on the age and the level of intent or reckless that can be proven; there probably will be. But since they have charges to hold them on and keep them away from each other; there is no rush to do so until the investigation is complete. As I said above; there isn’t much in that story. This could be anything from 8 year olds playing with matches, to 16 year olds intentionally setting a fire. As soon as the local gossip gets going we will know their ages and probably their criminal records; if they have any. -

Not much info in that story. I wonder how old there are; they could have released that. But they must believe they set them intentionally with those charges. 14 people dead and no telling how many going through painful burn recovery. Terrible. -
History of the right to carry in Tennessee
DaveTN replied to quickbiscuit's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
We have a lot more privileges than we had before, and more than many states. But we do not have a “Right to carry”. I think only about 10 or 11 states has that, and of those I’m not sure they all recognize it as a 2nd amendment right. Recognizing the right to “bear arms” as well as “keep arms” is what Tennessee needs next. We are very close to joining the elite states of Constitutional carry; but not yet there. A right implies that it is for all the people; we don’t have that. -
Federal law requires a person to be 21 to buy a handgun from an FFL. Tennessee state law only requires they be 18. So an FFL can’t transfer a handgun to an 18 year old, but you can sell them one on a private sale if they are a Tennessee resident.

I’m considering this setup for shooting paper; won’t be a carry gun. Anyone have this combination? As best I can tell the Deltapoint Pro doesn’t come with a mount. A universal mount kit appears to be available for purchase separately. But it says its fits an M&P. Is it a bolt-on to the C.O.R.E. without a mount?

It’s a non-issue for most. But if you have a conviction or a prescription, and become the subject of an investigation; falsification of a 4473 is a felony. This is an open letter to all licensees in 2011 addressing the issue. https://www.atf.gov/file/60211/download

Just goes to show; you just never know what you will run into. I wouldn’t expect a shooter when checking an abandon building for a squatter. Of course, the bad guy has the advantage of surprise anyway. I hope the Officer is okay; sounds like he is. He drove himself to the hospital and has been released. The nut cases are now targeting cops; be careful out there.

On the default theme, if I pick "content I have posted in"; that's what it shows. On the dark theme it shows everything, including threads I haven't posted in. (I didn't see this posted anywhere, but I didn't look through everything)

https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/does-customer-have-be-certain-age-buy-firearms-or-ammunition-licensee Does a customer have to be a certain age to buy firearms or ammunition from a licensee? Yes. Under the Gun Control Act (GCA), shotguns and rifles, and ammunition for shotguns or rifles may be sold only to individuals 18 years of age or older. All firearms other than shotguns and rifles, and all ammunition other than ammunition for shotguns or rifles may be sold only to individuals 21 years of age or older. Licensees are bound by the minimum age requirements established by the GCA regardless of State or local law. However, if State law or local ordinances establish a higher minimum age for the purchase or disposition of firearms, the licensee must observe the higher age requirement. [18 U.S.C. 922(b)(1) and (b)(2); 27 CFR 478.99(b)]

Source? I don’t believe there are 30 states where you can carry a loaded handgun without a permit; training or not.

I use the grey theme because the room is usually dark; it looks fine. Please do not make another nasty looking black gun site that we can’t read (or please make it an option the rest of us won’t have to deal with). I’m still getting use to the software change. I still haven’t found a way to have a one bottom click to show threads I am participating in whether read or not, like the old software. But I am okay with the new software.

A lesson about pursuit of a BG?
DaveTN replied to Randall53's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Well, we are basing our opinions on two sentences. The test of criminal charges is, “Would a reasonable person (jury) believe the homeowner was in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm?” If we can assume that the two suspects were firing at the home owner; there was an immediate threat and the homeowner is good. Could the homeowner be sued by the drivers family for a wrongful death, assuming he was not threatening the homeowner? Sure. But he was a willful participant in a violent felony. That case wouldn’t go anywhere. Michigan has no duty to retreat. Here is what the law says. -
Because that statute doesn’t make you immune from being sued it just offers financial recourse if you are, and… “If the court finds that the defendant was justified in using such force pursuant to §§ 39-11-611 -- 39-11-614 or § 29-34-201.” It’s better than nothing, but if a dirt bags family sues you; you need to hire an attorney and pay him regardless of the outcome. If a court finds you were justified, you can then get a judgement against them, but that doesn’t mean you will ever get reimbursed for the attorney fees you already paid.

I don’t think that could happen without at least a Grand Jury hearing, and would probably require a judge’s ruling. The Attorney General of the United States decided not to charge Hillary; that doesn’t mean she didn’t commit or crime or that she couldn’t be charged later.

Outpost Armory has a flyer in the paper that says Anderson AR-15 for $499. It also says "limited quantities". I doubt you could build anything decent for less than that. Gander Mountain has a Bushmaster for $554.99.

What you are suggesting is what we already have here in Tennessee. The fact that a person goes through a class doesn’t mean they can safely handle a firearm or know the requirements for the use of deadly force. We see that all the time. Requiring training isn’t constitutional carry. I couldn’t care less what other states do and don’t want a Federal carry law. The NRA can’t force a person to be safe with a gun. How and where you carry off your property is going to be controlled by the state; that will never change. And what’s up with the “non” CC in Chicago? Chicago has carry permits. The murder rate in bloody Chicago is less than Memphis. We don’t need to look to Chicago, Detroit or New York for high crime rates; we have them right here. It’s why we carry guns.

The problem might be a combination of left handed shooters and pink ear protection. It’s really out of control.

Once devices are paired and I don’t want my PC to show up anywhere (other than those devices) do I need to leave my PC in discoverable mode?

Does the printer come with software that lets you make a 3D model from scratch? Can you use a 3D solid such as as a .CatPart or .STP?
