  1. Never mind… I wasn’t paying attention again. Since this is several months old I’m sure the issue has been taken care of.
  2. So you are going to let us put stuff up for bids?
  3. Never heard of them; had to look them up. Not very impressive comments. Go into the advanced search and search that name in the auctions that have ended.
  4. TWRA says it. They have some confirmed sightings in that link I posted above. Not Tennessee, but check this out. 14 Wolves moved from Canada to Yellowstone. Pretty interesting.
  5. It’s a word document, so you can put in any age you want. I hold a C&R, so I use 21. If it was someone younger we would have to discuss that depending on what I am selling.
  6. I haven’t heard anything about that; but I wish it were true. I believe Tennessee recognizes all carry permits. I helped talk to people in Illinois to gain support for carry permits, as I shoot more in Illinois than I do here. When they passed their carry permit, they offered out of state permits for $500 (I think that was the price). That’s crazy. But I couldn’t get one anyway, something about Tennessee not reporting mental health cases. I was kinda chastised here because I suggested we not recognize Illinois permits. Some think that because they are azzhats; we should be either. I disagree. If a state doesn’t recognize our carry permits; they shouldn’t get to carry here. Otherwise nothing will change.
  7. Refresh my memory. Didn’t Colt pull all their handguns (except the 1911) years ago because they didn’t want to sell to the civilian market? A Python would be a good idea, but as others have said I question it would be what it once was. Worth a try though. A $700 Cobra selling against the J-frame line? I doubt that will go over well for them. Buy hey, good luck to any American manufacturer that makes guns here.
  8. Check out Olbertz of Solingen, Germany
  9. More laws with no teeth. Driving on a suspended or revoked driver’s license is illegal, as I understand it driving as a habitual offender is a felony. But plenty of those people still drive. Many years ago when mandatory insurance was started the insurance companies said that the administration of it caused the costs to rise. I don’t doubt that. Will the people that can’t afford insurance quit driving? Of course they won’t. Will they be able to get plates? Of course they will. Those that don’t have someone that will get them for them will steal them. I wonder how many driving without insurance charges it takes to gain a person habitual offender status. It’s like everything else; those that work and have to stay out of jail will pay the bills for those that don’t.
  10. All states do not recognize a Tennessee HCP, but Tennessee recognizes all states carry permits. So you have six months from the time you establish residence. Without getting into splitting legal hairs the most obvious dates would be: 1. The date your plates or Driver’s license was issued. 2. The date you tell the Officer you established residence.

  12. I use M-Pro 7 cleaner for cleaning because it works as well as Hoppes #9 and doesn’t have a smell. I have various name brand oils; really doesn’t matter since I clean after ever use and keep them lubed. I would really like to find a homemade gun cleaner that works well and doesn’t smell. I need to get another gallon on M-Pro and that stuff is $70 a gallon.
  13. They cut them when they cut most all the other K-frames. Don’t need a K&L frame both. They are plenty rugged; many cops carried K-frames for many years. (19, 66, 13, 15, 10 and others) The 13 was produced from 74-99, the -2 was produced in 77-82.
  14. Greg, the OP hasn’t done this before and was just asking the best practice. That’s all most of us were trying to give him. You are required by law to make sure the person is old enough and a resident of Tennessee. If they make statements like what has been done in the gun show videos such as “I don’t know if I could pass a background check.”, and you sell to them you could find yourself cuffed and stuffed. Who knows what the outcome would be at trial. Most of us don’t care to find out. He already has seen that there are some folks that won’t buy with a BOS involved. That is his call. I have found that if I can’t sell a gun without leaving Murfreesboro; it’s because the price is too high.
  15. I am fully aware some folks don’t like it. But it hasn’t cost me any gun sales.
  16. I still get.... Sorry, there is a problem The page you are trying to access is not available for your account. Error code: 2C171/1
  17. There use to be one, but I don’t think the link works anymore. This is what I use…
  18. I don’t travel to sell, so depending on how they come into town I just pick an open parking lot. The state doesn’t give you any way to do a background check, so the only way you have a legal problem is if it can be proven you knew the buyer didn’t have gun rights. Obviously, if someone tells you that, you don’t want to sell to them and are probably being set-up. You are however required to know that they are of age and a Tennessee resident. I use a simple bill of sale that requires nothing more than their signature, phone number and a statement that they aren’t banned from legally possessing the firearm. I don’t require an HCP, but I require they show me a state ID. But I make that clear in terms of sale in my ad. If they don’t want to give ID, I don’t care what their reason is; I don’t want to sell to them.

  20. You are too young to be jaded by some old guys with bad attitudes against cops. So here is some advice from an old guy that is a former cop and proud of it. First off you will be dealing with two separate sets of laws and two different types of cops. Police Officers should (and probably do) know the laws about you carrying a gun. They are who you will probably deal with if you are stopped on the street. TWRA Wildlife Officers are who you would likely be dealing with while out hunting. It doesn’t appear to me Midtown has a Police Department? So I would assume you are covered by Roane County Sheriff’s Office. If you have the time; don’t make phone calls; go there. Ask to speak with a Command Officer (or Deputy if that doesn’t work). Desk clerks and dispatchers aren’t cops and don’t work the street. (My department wouldn’t let them answer your questions; but we had an “inside” Officer all the time.) Don’t read the criminal law on LexisNexis and start making assumptions about what it says. We don’t have access to case law or other court rulings. (At least I don’t) Even law makers ask for AG opinions on some laws. Reading the law is a good start, and AG opinions are a good source; but the courts are not bound by AG opinions. There are good cops and bad cops out there. A good cop will answer your questions and treat you with respect (even if they are arresting you). If you are ever stopped and you think you are talking to a bad cop; don’t be stupid. There will be a time to straighten things out; but it won’t be on the street with a bad cop. After you go talk to the cops let us know what happened. Heck you might even see something that interests you and you might become one of the cops your community can be proud of. Then you can help people out.
  21. I haven’t tried that one, but have been looking at air rifles. That looks like the Umarex Throttle. If it is; Ruger isn’t jacking the price way up because their name is on it. And they are openly saying on their web site who made it; how refreshing. https://www.umarexusa.com/blogs/airgun-news/the-umarex-throttle-review
  22. Thanks guys, if I can’t find it here or on-line I guess I’ll have to make a trip to Spring Hill.
  23. I’m looking for 50 round boxes of Federal Hydra-shok or HST (9MM and 40S&W) in the Murfreesboro/Smyrna area. Not interested in the 20 round boxes. Anyone know of any retail stores that carries it?
  24. Kmart purchased Sears in 2005. The name became Sears Holdings.
  25. Good to know. I thought the whole idea of the magic release was to keep it from accidentally opening.
