Transporting Inherited Long Guns from Colorado to Tennessee
DaveTN replied to khrystid's topic in General Chat
Federal Law 478.29 Out-of-State acquisition of firearms by nonlicensees. No person, other than a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector, shall transport into or receive in the State where the person resides (or if a corporation or other business entity, where it maintains a place of business) any firearm purchased or otherwise obtained by such person outside that State: Provided, That the provisions of this section: (a) Shall not preclude any person who lawfully acquires a firearm by bequest or intestate succession in a State other than his State of residence from transporting the firearm into or receiving it in that State, if it is lawful for such person to purchase or possess such firearm in that State, (b) Shall not apply to the transportation or receipt of a rifle or shotgun obtained from a licensed manufacturer, licensed importer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector in a State other than the transferee's State of residence in an over-the-counter transaction at the licensee's premises obtained in conformity with the provisions of § 478.96(c) and (c) Shall not apply to the transportation or receipt of a firearm obtained in conformity with the provisions of §§ 478.30 and 478.97. -
TN Lost Reciprocity With Washington State
DaveTN replied to 300winmag's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The state of Washington doesn’t have any training requirements for a carry permit, yet they pulled our reciprocity because we allow service members to have a permit? I’m going to have to have a talk with Bill O’Reilly about this. This needs to make National news. -
Then don’t. Just buy one and let us know how it compares.

Interesting conversation. I have never bought an aftermarket trigger for anything; never saw the need to. I have kicked around the idea of putting an Apex on one of my M&P’s; just because everyone raves about them. But then I think; they are carry guns not competition guns. I’ve done trigger jobs on revolvers that I shot in competition. It didn’t help my scores any, but people that tried them were impressed with how smooth they were. I just bought a new M&P CORE that was supposed to be Performance Center gun. I question that it ever saw the inside of the Performance Center. It went back to S&W without even being fired. I’m still waiting to hear from them on it. My S&W and DPMS AR’s triggers seem fine. My 700 VLS has an X Mark Pro that breaks like glass; I see no reason to change it. I thought about it when Remington had the trigger recall, but just sent it in and let them do their thing. It works fine and I don’t need it to be any lighter. My weakness is optics because I know they do make a difference to me. I own Leupold, Nikon and Vortex scopes. I also believe you get what you pay for in scopes. I just bought my first red dot for a handgun. I have Eotechs on rifles, but have never used an optic on a handgun. I wanted a Leupold DelatPoint Pro, but I can't get a mount for the M&P, so I ordered a Vortex Venom. I'm curious to see how that works out.

Good for you, that should be pretty cool. Wish I could go; history is being made. But just remember, if you don't come back with pics to post.... it didn't happen.

TN Lost Reciprocity With Washington State
DaveTN replied to 300winmag's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
There isn’t National Federal Reciprocity on driver’s license. And if the Feds did it (Carry Permits); it wouldn’t be without a lot more information and requirements than we have now. I wonder how many people out there don’t know their driver’s license won’t be accepted to fly or enter Federal facilities next year. https://www.dhs.gov/real-id-and-you-rumor-control Nope… I’m okay with dealing with the individual states. -
Looks like two more states are headed for Constitutional carry. We should quit messing around and be next. http://www.concordmonitor.com/nh-senate-committee-passes-concealed-carry-permit-repeal-7391621 http://www.12newsnow.com/news/local/constitutional-carry-proposed-in-texas-state-legislature-1/384955747

The price of all guns is coming down. Even used isn’t selling like it was. Buyers don’t feel guns will be banned and they won’t be able to get what they want (at least for 4 more years). The collectables are selling though.

Marines get groundbreaking, unstoppable new rifle magazine
DaveTN replied to The Legion's topic in General Chat
Good for them. I’ve been using PMAGS for years with no problem. I hope they can now step up their production without leaving us with a shortage. It’s always good to see an American company hit a home run. -
S&W will email you a shipping label with instructions on what to do. Mine said… “You should receive an email shortly from a “Do Not Reply” Address detailing how to return your firearm for service. Print out the label attached to the email and attach it to the outside of sturdy box. Send the firearm only and please exclude magazines or any other accessories that may have come with the firearm. Please Include a note inside the box detailing the problems you are having with your firearm and we will evaluate it once it has been processed in the repair area.” I took mine to our local FedEx shipping center. I told the guy at the counter that the box contained a firearm. He said “Okay”, and asks if I needed a receipt. I got my receipt and left. Not a bit of drama like the last time I tried to do that at UPS.

I second the C&R. $30 and you don’t have to mess with FFL’s. It also gives you a little discount from some suppliers. I haven’t seen anything at shows priced any less than retail shops. If you notice most of your local gun shops don’t even have a table. Why should they drag the guns to a show to sell them when they will sell them in their shops? There is no real discounting like there was years ago at gun shows. Today’s gun shows are the forums and the gun sale sites. When places like AIM throw the good deals up; they are usually gone in hours. You then pay more for them from the resellers. You have to be ready to buy and be fast.

Because it’s a hazard if some kids get in it or something.

A new American start-up company; good for them.

In Davidson County; not statewide. The law has not kept up with technology.

Looks nice. Of course now you will have to have a 2 ½" 19 or 66 for when you want to go smaller, and a 36 or 60 for when you want to go even smaller than that. Sorry, that’s just how the disease progresses.

I switched to TeamViewer when Log Me In did away with the free stuff.

It’s back up this morning. Obama must have told Putin to back off.

Yep, either it got hacked or someone forgot to pay the bill. Probably the Russians.

For a shooter, that gun can be bought new in the more desirable .357mag for $631 from Buds. But I think you may have a rare find there. https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/26277/Firearms/Handguns/Smith+%26+Wesson/S%26W+Revolvers/S%26W+M60+5RD+357MAG%2F38SP+%2BP+3

If you have a 60-4 TARGET (3” barrel with full underlug, and adjustable sights) you have a rare find. Mint it could be worth over a grand. Excellent is probably the $700 range you are seeing and below that the collectors don’t have much interest, so $500 or below range. Please post pics. This is one that actually sold. Is this what you have? http://www.gunbroker.com/item/589097072

The law has drawn the line. Unless they have changed it you get a pass on the class if you were a certified LEO within the last five years. The problem is there is no way to mandate the LEO training; it depends on where and how the LEO was trained and the follow-up training. I have two honorable discharges and was a LEO many years ago. I’m over 50 and would put my LEO training up against most any departments, and certainly over the general firearms training in the military. There are many firearms instructors that have been neither Military nor LEO. I’m sure they are like any other job; good ones and bad ones. Like a Police Department your level of training will be as good as the instruction you get; all is not equal. Giving the military a pass is a feel good political move by the state; and there is nothing wrong with that. If they were serious about training the requirements for an HCP would be much more stringent than they are. The HCP training I went through certainly was nothing to brag about; but I got my permit and the state and the instructor got their money. Everyone was happy. I feel for the people that have been victims of violence, or just want to defend themselves the same way we do; but don’t have the money to play the game.

I buy most of my new guns from Buds; they have the stuff the local dealers don’t have, usually the best price and are to a local dealer in 3-4 days. I joined the team Buds (or whatever it was called) a few years ago. I was trying to buy a couple of guns that were a hot item. Those who paid were supposed to get first chance. One of the ones I wanted was posted on-line at 9am, I didn’t get an email until 1pm. So I thought it was pretty useless and never joined again. All I want from Buds now is the best possible price and fast shipping. They have been pretty good about that. I don’t like the credit card fees either, but don’t want to wait the extra time it takes to get a money order and send it. So I deal with it. EDIT: Why would you pay a credit card fee on something you are putting on layaway? You can send a check or MO since you aren’t in a hurry.

I agree. If they start making Pythons again it will have zero impact on the originals.

I really liked Megyn as a person and a commentator. But I always felt she was trying to be more conservative than she really is. So I wonder if she will fit right in at NBC or if NBC thinks they are getting something they desperately need; a conservative. It also makes wonder if places like MSNBC and CNN are making room for some conservatives after getting kicked so hard in ratings by FOX. I’ll miss you Megyn; but I won’t go to NBC to watch you.
