  1. I usually feel sorry for companies that get caught up in the political minefields that have nothing to do with their business. But this guy is an idiot. Of course when you are worth 71 BILLION, a hit on your company may not be a big deal to you.
  2. Keep in mind that Castle Doctrine is not really laws, but a legal principal. The actual law in question (possession in a vehicle) does not differentiate between actual possession and constructive possession. If the intent was for it to be your vehicle; the law would state that. I don’t think it’s complicated. In every state I have been in, and I assume all others, you are justified in the use of deadly force if a reasonable person (jury) would believe you were in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm. Duty to retreat may be an issue in some states but we don’t have that in Tennessee (and never have as far as I can tell) and it usually isn’t going to be an issue in most deadly force confrontations. Castle Doctrine helps, but it isn’t a pass for a free kill. If you have a bad shoot you could still have issues. It gets complicated when someone shoots a person that was not an immediate threat to them or they were an active participant in a situation that escalated to a shooting. I would like to complicate that even more by bringing back the laws that allowed a fleeing forcible felon to be shot.
  3. None of us in Tennessee have 2nd amendment rights to carry recognized by the state. If we did we wouldn’t need a permit and everyone could carry. So yes, she either needs to abide by the policy or suffer the consequences.
  4. A civil case can establish case law; Heller and McDonald were civil cases. It could impact criminal case sentencing if whether or not it’s a park is in dispute.
  5. So much for the Big Sky Theory.
  6. Does https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php have what you want? If they do it would probably cost you less to have it transferred.
  7. I called the TBI both times. They said they couldn’t tell me what the charge was; I told them. Mine was a 20 year old charge in Illinois that I had a gun in my car. I told them the charges were dismissed. She told me the charge didn’t show a disposition. From that I had to go through a process of getting the disposition on file. But if you have never been arrested; that probably isn’t your issue. It sounds like there may be an identity question. But that’s just a WAG.
  8. I went through it twice before getting it straightened out, both mine only took 3-4 days. I don’t think there is much you can do until you talk with the TBI. But maybe someone else has some ideas. Good luck.
  9. You say you have a “clean record”, but have you been arrested for something and the charges were dropped/dismissed? A common problem is an arrest not showing a disposition. Did you use your SS number on the form? You may be on a conditional release and the FFL just doesn’t want to do it. Not much you can do but wait to see what happens or talk to the TBI.
  10. Wasn’t there a bunch of drama a few years back with ammo manufacturers telling folks not to shoot 17 HMR in semi-autos?
  11. I don’t guess it really matters what we think, but I can guess what that Troopers opinion will be on armed citizens and restoring non-violent felons gun rights.
  12. I don’t think for most of us it has anything to do with fighting change or what someone told us. Its application driven based on our experience. I have all types of guns. For example, most of my carry guns are Tupperware guns, my bedside gun is a revolver; application driven.
  13. Well the good news is we don’t have miserable winters with -20 temps. The bad news is the summers are hotter. We don’t have much of that spring/fall good weather you get up there. Heating units are outside here. When I first saw that I told a friend I had never seen that. He asked where are they in Illinois? When you see a curve sign in Illinois you need to slow down. When you see a curve sign in Tennessee you need to be prepared for a turn. Tennessee can’t get a wreck off the interstate without it taking hours. So if you live around the interstate; know the escape routes. They can’t leave a name on a street for more than a couple of miles. So get use to it. They have sweet tea here. Carrying past a sign is probably the most talked about topic here that no one has ever been cited for. You aren’t in Chicago anymore, so unless you are haulin’ azz; stay out of that left lane. Hope this helps.
  14. No FOID here or waiting periods. All you need to buy a gun or ammo here is cash. You don’t need a permit to have a gun in your car; you do need a permit to carry. Open carry is not very popular here; but you will see that when you are here. “Concealed” is not addressed with a permit. Open or concealed is legal with a permit (HCP). Like anywhere else if you are suspicious the cops may stop you; gun or not. Signs on businesses banning carry have the weight of law; $500 fine only misdemeanor. However, most of the cops will give you a trespass warning. You are not legally required to tell an Officer you are carrying if you are stopped. But the pavement here gets a lot hotter than in Illinois and it’s a good idea.
  15. The biggest thing I can think of is that unless they changed it; concealed means concealed in Florida. http://www.handgunlaw.us/
  16. Rarely is one Circuits case heard by the SCOTUS. If there is differing opinions between the Federal Circuits the SCOTUS is more likely to hear the case. So you can go to Kentucky and try to buy a handgun; that’s the easy part of getting it into the 6th Circuit. The hard part will be getting the money to pay attorney’s to take the case.
  17. For those of you in the know; has there ever been a vote on Federal legislation specific to suppressors? If so, what was the outcome?
  18. I doubt you will much of anything that will cover the trigger safely that is much thinner than the Remora. And they are cheap.
  19. If you check I think they have a problem that requires you to shim the battery. I may be wrong, but I think that was what I read a lot when I was researching red dots for my M&P.
  20. I don’t own any foreign guns except a Mosin a friend gave to me; and I’m better armed than most. It’s not totally bad as the story I read said they will be manufactured here. Unless that’s code for assembled here; it’s that’s better than nothing. Smith & Wesson partnered with General Dynamics to produce the Military M&P; and it doesn’t make the cut? Nonsense, that’s simply politics or some behind the scenes shenanigans. Tell them what the problem was and let them address it. But again, if they pick the 9mm they have accomplished nothing with this Sig except wasting a lot of money. The best of the most important material things in life, Liquor, guns, cars and motorcycles, are still made here. Buy American, Hire American and America First. That’s the plan I heard yesterday. Let's roll with that.
  21. I’m not really a fanboy of the NRA; but everything helped. I hope the middle class remembers this next election. The Dems have realized (maybe) the mistakes they made and they will do and say anything and everything to get their people to the polls. If things go right a lot more people will be working the next Presidential election and it will be harder for them to get to the polls. My opinion (for what it’s worth) this election had everything to do with the economy and healthcare and very little to do with gun control. But hey, every little bit helps.
  22. I hate to see a foreign company get a military contract. That just makes no sense to me. But it says they will be made here. If that’s in the contract I guess it better than nothing. If they stay with the 9; what did they gain?
  23. Okay, but I don’t see anything on the requirements page saying that. It does say… Applicants are required to be a resident of the State of Tennessee;
  24. Pre 9-11 I worked for a machine tool manufacturer, one of our distributors used a wire EDM machine to cut a pretty detailed 1911 in a 1/8” plate for a customer whose hobby was guns. They slipped it in an envelope and he put it in his briefcase. As he went through the security check at the airport, the guy stopped the machine and called the cops over. He told them “This guy has a gun in his briefcase”. The cops checked it out and told him he probably should put stuff like that in his checked baggage. Then after discussing how cool it was they gave it back and let him go. Nowadays TSA would probably take him in the other room and beat him with a rubber hose.
