  1. I looked at them, but I’m too lazy to pump, and scuba tanks looked like an expensive option. I already have the expensive options covered; don’t need anymore.
  2. The “legal bar” in most states I’m sure would be covered by “A reasonable person believing that someone was in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm.” The “Reasonable person” would be a Judge or jury. Plenty of people have said they shot someone because they were scared. For some it worked; others went to prison. Joe McKnight was unarmed and shot in a road rage incident. The shooter did not deny shooting him and said he was scared. He wasn’t immediately charged, but has since been charged with manslaughter. We will have to wait to see how that works out. (As far as your question about can you just shoot someone) Had the barrel of that rifle moved in the direction of those Officers they would have shot him; I know I would have. And I would bet you couldn’t find a jury in the land to convict them of anything. Those guys are only alive because they didn’t move and did what they were told. Teach your kids to stay alive. Teach them that if you threaten someone with a gun (real or perceived), cops or citizens; it could cost them their life. Dead is dead and the fact there is a misunderstanding doesn’t change that.
  3. These weren’t guys conducting business; they had ill intent. However, the cops didn’t know what their intent was and acted appropriately. I have said here many times before I don’t support the Police wearing masks and suppressed uniforms. I have been on a lot of raids and never found the need to wear a mask. However, that has no impact on what these clowns did. Had I seen that I would have alerted everyone and headed to the armory for a rifle. No carried weapon is an immediate threat; until it is. You can’t ask a cop or a citizen to wait until a gun is pointed AT THEM to react; that’s ridiculous and goes against the way everyone is trained; cops, military and citizens. In a time when cops are under attack and active shooters on the rise; this was nothing less than reckless. We don’t need these kinds of people even pretending to represent us. They don’t represent me. This absolutely will not help any carry laws; it will cause more restrictions.
  4. Sill haven't heard any explanation on why he did what he did.
  5. The got what they wanted. Now its time to pay up. http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2017/02/06/two-masked-and-armed-men-walk-into-dearborn-pd-to-prove-open-carry-point/ Even from Bearing Arms... https://bearingarms.com/bob-o/2017/02/06/idiot-wearing-ski-mask-carries-ak-police-station-chaos-ensues/ Those are the kind of guys that will start shooting people. They need a mental evaluation; they earned it.
  6. Under "Ownership" I can’t sort by "Content I have posted in" (or anything else). The fly out menu just stays open. If I pick "open link in a new tab it doesn’t work either, but if I pick "open link in a new window" it works. I have cleared the cache, and tried it in both Edge and Chrome.
  7. I think on-line petitions are useless. But I signed this one anyway.

    AR Pistol

I sold my PLR-16 and wished I hadn’t. Prices are crashing; they should drop back down into the $450~$500 range new. $375 would be a heck of a deal. I have been looking around for a long range trunk gun; I already have a handgun. But I would like something with more range capability and a larger caliber; maybe a low cost carbine of some sort.
  9. I think Trump told the Patriots they had to win. So I’m guessing that is what will happen.
  10. That’s up to the individual based on where they are and the education they have to decide. If EBT cards is an issues it doesn’t sound like you are in a skilled trades or manufacturing environment. If they can go somewhere else and get more money; they should do it. Is your company employing illegals? With the state of Tennessee handing out College tuition to almost anyone that wants it (at our expense) there is no excuse for anyone with the least little bit of drive or work ethic to not be able to better themselves. I don’t care if you have employees making the $7.25 hr minimum wage or $30 hour; it will never be enough. They have to go where the work is and make their skills be a value to the company. When/If the powers running the show now can bring manufacturing jobs back to this country it will require people that can be trained and will show up to work every day. I believe those people are out there. The rest will remain at places that let them get by with whatever they want and they will be paid accordingly.
  11. Grab a gun is less than Quantico and thats not even LEO pricing. Buds has LEO pricing also (I didn't look for it though), and they will sometimes price match. $549 New http://grabagun.com/s-w-640-2-125-357-sts.html $600 New https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/26276/S&W+M640+5RD+357MAG38SP++P+2.12"
  12. I emailed Senator Bill Ketron and Representative Bryan Terry this morning. Bryan Terry emailed back that he would forward the questions to the Attorney General. The more people that ask, the better chance we have of getting an AG opinion. You can find the legislators for your area here: http://www.legislature.state.tn.us/legislators/
  13. Sure it can as once its fed info (unless the gun is just junk). It won’t however be able to account for the accuracy of the shooter which I am sure is the biggest variable. That will be Gen 2 that can pull the trigger.
  14. In this age of technology I wonder how long it will be before someone makes a scope that can measure wind speed, humidity and temperature, and adjust the point of aim accordingly.
  15. Thanks, that explains a lot.
  16. I’m curious why Henry would start making single shot rifles. I just don’t see the attraction. I don’t believe its accuracy. But I don’t hunt, is there some kind of hunting regulation/scenario where a single shot would be an advantage over a bolt? School me.
  17. It has everything to with a DA. The local DA or a Federal Prosecutor would be the only ones to file charges. Without them filing charges how would the DOS or the HCP division know about it to take any action? None of us know for sure; hence the discussion. If you have proof that you want to keep secret; that’s fine, just post what they said and who said it. If they sent you a letter they obviously have no concerns about being identified. I’m just trying to determine if this is a credible source (DA) or someone from DOS playing fast and loose with their interpretations of the law. If someone that has the authority to charge someone is saying this; or if it’s in a training presentation made by the state, we might be able to get a politician to request an AG opinion. Still not binding law, but as close as we could get. Wouldn’t you like to know for sure?
  18. I’m not trying to be argumentative either, sorry if it comes across that way; it’s just a discussion. I can understand why a Police Officer would not want to be identified; most Departments have rules against anyone other than Departments spokespeople giving advice or information to the public. But the DOS, and the DA should be more than willing to make public whatever their interpretation of the law is. If you have a letter from the DA, he obviously isn’t trying to keep anything secret. Does this letter address what we are discussing? If someone in Knox County is going to be charged with transferring a handgun to a 20 year old in a private sale that would be a good piece of information to have as it has come up here multiple times. Do you have written information stating that? My question to them would be; what statute are they going to be charged under? I don’t pretend to be an expert on Federal law, but the only thing I can find on transfer by a non-licensee that addresses age specifically says 18. That’s just looking through the part of the United States Code that contains 922. We can’t ask for an AG opinion, but if we have evidence that a local DA is putting out that information, maybe we can get someone that can ask to do it.
  19. Interesting. If your District Attorney says an 18-20 year old can’t have a handgun in car because a FFL can’t transfer one to them, then they would probably also think one of our members in your area was violating the law by selling a handgun to them. What do you tell your students about that? I’m the first person to say if you have a legal question ask the District Attorney or the Police Department Command Officers in your area. I’ve see DA’s and States Attorneys make some pretty wild twists of the law. I’m with OS on this; I think they are wrong. But even if you win in court; it costs a lot to be a test dummy.
  20. So… the Tennessee Department of Safety is looking at the Federal law pertaining to FFL's to apply a violation that our TCA does not have? Are they going to charge them under some Federal law?
  21. Tell them you want it tax exempt because you will pay tax on it when you register it in Tennessee.
  22. Assuming your friend is in Marshall County; has she asked? This is a link to the Marshall County School System Employee Handbook. It has no language about weapons, simply a quote of part of the TCA under the title WEAPONS. 39-17-1309 is much longer that what is shown and goes into detail about employees; she should read it. http://mcs.marshall.k12tn.net/web_docs/HR_docs/2016_2017 MCBOE Employee Handbook July 22 2016.pdf
  23. Well I’m not an attorney and don’t play one on TV, but it says you are exempt if you are carrying or possessing in a vehicle. As a former cop if I was arresting someone for having the gun on them I would need some language in the statute telling that was a violation; there isn’t any. However… the only person responsible for knowing what the law is, in the state you are in is you. So if anyone has concerns; they should check a source they trust.
  24. I don’t know who put that note in there, but the statute clearly says it is an exception to (a)(1), and uses the words carrying or possessing.
  25. A couple of nights ago I heard on the news that Cheatham County deputies were stopping a car; a man walked out of a house and approached them carrying an AR (at least that is the picture they showed). They shot him. He is alive in the hospital. I don’t see anything else. Surely by now they have to know why this guy did what he did.
