  1. Why, you think they have better guns/ammo in the North? I don’t know what this has to do with handgun calibers, but I was born less than 100 miles from the Capitol of the Confederacy; how about you?
  2. You have two Yamaha dealers within 25 miles of you. They are refusing the deal you have on a brand new motorcycle? Let me remind you of something you may have forgot about riding a motorcycle; you are going to need a good dealer close by.
  3. Exactly. Intent will be the question. The rest of what you posted pertains to Federal law in a Federal bank Robbery trial. The OP’s trial would be in state court on Felony Assault charges; Intent would mean everything and brandishing would probably not even be mentioned as it does not apply.
  4. For that application (Heavy, oversized gun, with limited round count, that fires a big azz bullet) I already have a 1911 loaded with Federal 230 grain HST’s. Why would I want to downgrade?
  5. That statute removes the ability of cops on the street to arrest a violent criminal when they have probable cause at the scene. No other crime has this language does it? I guess I need an explanation of how this will impact an arrest of a violent offender and what the requirements of “beyond a determination of mere probable cause” would be. If local LE and DA's are good with it; I would support it. We need it anyway the way it is intended. We just don’t need more laws that make it even harder to arrest violent offenders.
  6. Caliber, like everything else, is application driven. If the manufacturers would start making a 158 gr. 357 Magnum Rimless JHP; it and a .22LR would cover all my handgun needs. Until then a .40 S&W and a .45 ACP will be required. But no, they waste their time with nonsense no one wants like .45 GAP, .357 SIG, and 10mm.
  7. Sounds like they didn’t plan on running into an adult son. Good thing he was there.
  8. His wife probably told him just to stick with simply “nine”. As in “Honey your “nine” is so cute; that’s what I want, does it come in pink. Or, “Honey your “nine” doesn’t kick nearly as much as that “forty” or “forty five” or whatever that other big thing I shot was; they made my hands hurt.
  9. Pyramid Air shows these as possibly being available in May. I may get one of these, but it appears to me I may have to spend close to another $300 for options that don’t involve me pumping it by hand. (Air Venturi Carbon Fiber Air Tank + whatever local fill charges are) For you folks into this what is the go to forum for PCP air guns?
  10. Correct. If I were teaching students I would add this: Having been a Police Officer, and I’m sure those that have been one will agree; people don’t always tell the truth. There are two sides that are not always the truth. I don’t know how it works in Tennessee, but where I was I had discretion on a misdemeanor. I did not have discretion on a felony. Threatening someone with a gun was a felony. If the person was believable and there were no other witnesses or video around you would probably be going with me to jail. If they weren’t believable I could have a Command Officer or a Detective come to the scene and make the call. The truth will not always set you free. Do everything you can to get out of the situation without displaying a gun. However…. That’s just my opinion based on dealing with the public. As I said before; you can do anything you are ready to take responsibility for. (Because you will)
  11. If there is no complainant; nothing happened. Pulling your coat back while getting gas isn’t a crime in this state.
  12. I need to do it. I’ve worked on revolvers for 35 years; never Tupperware guns though. Time to start. That and I can’t wait 6 months on anything.
  13. What are my options for a Target/Competition M&P? The trigger on this gun is ridiculous; it feels like its rolling across rocks in a parking lot. Don’t tell me to send it back to S&W; it’s been there twice in my three month ordeal. A high Point has a better trigger than this so called “Performance Center” POS. But that is neither here nor there; it just has to be replaced. I have done plenty of action jobs on revolvers, but have never had a trigger on an M&P so bad it had to be replaced. Is Apex the only option? I see a lot of options on their web site. Which kit do I need? This will not be a carry gun or a home protection gun in any way; it will be dedicated solely to target shooting at the range. I won’t say money doesn’t matter, but I already have a bunch invested in this gun and a Vortex Venom optic. So I don’t want to invest more and then wish I had done something more.
  14. I don’t see why not, my Venom had a Picatinny Mount in the box. If you want a red dot this one is small and light. As far as other suggestions; my M&P15-22 has a Leupold 3X9 VX-1 on it. It’s far beyond the capabilities and accuracies of any red dot made, and cost less.
  15. You 9mm guys need a hug?
  16. Whats the "victim" telling me when I arrive?
  17. If we are to believe the news story (That’s all we have right now); that’s exactly what they were doing. They were standing at the victim’s car talking to her trying to find out what was going on. I don’t know why it matters that he was on his own property; many cops are shot by people on their own property. (Most domestics) I’ve taken legally owned guns from people standing in their living room that were trying to kill me. As someone that has been in their shoes I’ll make this comment: Many people don’t think about how fast a shooting goes down. Those of you that have been though training or been in a shooting know what I’m talking about. If this was a guy walking out of his house carrying a gun, I would say that the cops would have ordered him to put it down and probably given him more time, as long as he wasn’t moving the weapon into a position to fire. But that’s why I asked the question above. The story claims he was crouching behind a car holding the rifle AFTER the Officers had exited their vehicles and was talking with the victim. Why? Why did he not stand up and identify himself when the Officers arrived? Why did he not lay the rifle down? The rule any Police Officer (or citizen) has in a deadly force confrontation is make the suspect unwilling or unable to fire his weapon at you. I’m guessing that these Officers were being told that a guy was trying to run both these women off the road, and all of a sudden, there he is and he’s now armed with an AR. I’m not saying that something couldn’t have been done differently. But people can spend days or even weeks deciding what that Officer should have done in that very moment when he feared he had an armed attacker present.
  18. That’s the question he asked. “Prove otherwise” works both ways; by showing them a gun, the other person could call the Police and claim he pulled it. This didn’t happen; it was a question, so we don’t know how it would end. Flashing a weapon or pulling a weapon is a possible response. Without a direct threat it’s a bad idea and could very easily land you in jail. But you have to do whatever you are ready to take responsibility for. As a former Police Officer I will repeat the comment above about calling 911. If I feel the need to “show” someone a gun in any way shape or form; I am calling 911 and I am staying there until Officers arrive. The first person to call is the “victim” the second person is the “suspect”. I can’t count the number of people that I have arrested that probably would not have been arrested had the Officer at the scene had both sides of the story. They are standing there looking at your license plate; they can give a description of you, your vehicle, your gun, and how and where you carry it. Knock, Knock Knock… answer the door it’s the Police.
  19. If you are carrying your oil soaked rag as a wick in your bottle of whiskey…yes.
  20. Plenty for you to think about and have a plan. Tennessee has no laws against “brandishing”; they do have laws against assault. Would a reasonable person (that’s a juror or a Judge; not you) believe you are in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? If so you are justified in either threatening them with your weapon; or shooting them. Someone giving you the evil eye or walking up on you without displaying a weapon at the pumps does not meet that level. Just because you have a gun doesn’t mean you will survive and it doesn’t mean everyone will fear you. Armed people, both good and bad are killed every day. Pulling your shirt or jacket back might scare off a bad guy. Or it might be an armed violent criminal that wants your vehicle and you just became a dead man walking because he now has the upper hand. If you pay at the pump, you have no reason to cross his path, get in your car, lock the doors and get the hell out of there. I’ll fight or take an azz whipping before I pull a gun on someone. But if someone threatens me with a weapon; I have no problem with using deadly force to save my life or the life of another. But at the end of the day whether you are an HCP holder, cop or citizen with a gun in your car, you have to be prepared to do whatever you need to so you can go home.
  21. Sure you can. It’s a crime to carry a loaded gun in Tennessee. You and I are part of a “Special Group” so we can carry. The FEDS decided LEO’s are a “Special Group”; so they can carry. I don’t believe my right to carry comes from the 2nd amendment and I am a firm believer in States Rights. The Feds can’t tell you that you can carry in another state unless that state agrees. If you believe they can; then they can tell you that you can’t carry at all. The SCOTUS has recently ruled you have a right to keep arms. They haven’t ruled that you have a right to bear arms, but they have indicated the direction they would go. Until the SCOTUS rules everyone in the country can strap on a gun and walk down the street; the Feds need to stay out of it.
  22. How do you expect the Officers to get that piece of information? I have no idea what he did; the piece of the video they show only shows the Officers shooting. But a group of citizens was convened and decided the Officers were justified. We have had multiple threads on here over the years about what you should do if you are in a justified use of force and the cops are arriving. This shows why. I’m not a fan of Grand Juries; they are one sided and they usually decide whatever the Prosecutor wants them to decide, but that is all we have. Grand jurors can ask questions and mine would be this. If we can believe that story, there were two and possibly three Police cars on the scene. They were there long enough for them to get out and talk to one of the victims at her car. Why was the Fireman still crouching down behind a car?
  23. I don't see how that statement can be true.
  24. So how did it work out?
