  1. I’m bumping this back up instead of starting a new thread, shame the pics are gone; thanks Photobucket. I’m going to make a target stand out of PVC pipe. It will be a PVC base with upright tubes to hold 1x2’s. Besides pistol shooting it will be used for long range high power rifle with folks of varying degrees of experience, so the chance of hitting an upright tube is good. I figure that if I use PVC cement there is no taking it apart to replace the tubes. So I’m thinking if I use something like Elmer’s glue it would hold it together, but I should be able to twist the tube to break the bond and replace it. What do you guys think?
  2. Toolmaker by trade. I work in quality now mainly programming CMM’s for First Article inspection of aircraft parts. Ready to retire anytime. Started out in the Navy as a Machinist, got out and worked in some shops, did a few years as a Police Officer, went back to the shops, worked as an Applications Engineer for a Machine Tool Builder, wife wanted to move here, so I took a job as a Toolmaker, and then to where I am now.

If charges were dismissed; it’s like it never happened. (as long as the dismissal gets filed.) If you have issues like dismissal after Court Supervision, expungement or pardon; you could have drama.

  5. Certainly it could happen.
  6. There are no brandishing laws in Tennessee. A road rage incident could result in reckless driving, reckless endangerment, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, or aggravated assault; depending on the circumstance of that incident. The opinions on the law I would be concerned on hearing from would be the local DA; preferably in the county I want to know about. As a Police Officer we had access to those people that would be making the decisions. I’m surprised more DA’s don’t offer to speak to citizens groups. I really don’t care what any 2nd amendment attorney or criminal defense attorney’s opinions are on any given law; because they won’t be deciding the charges. I would only care about their opinion if I had a 2nd amendment issue or was arrested criminally. As a Police Officer I’ve seen people go to prison because they listened to their attorney. I’m not condemning attorneys like any other group they have good and bad. But I’ve learned that the best legal advice comes from the person that will be deciding what charges are brought, not from those defending you on those charges. I can offer this piece of advice for what it’s worth. If I ever find myself in a situation where someone thinks I may have threatened them with a gun; I will call the Police and I will wait for their arrival. I have arrested countless people that may not have been arrested had the responding Officers heard both sides of the story.
  7. Tennessee doesn’t have brandishing laws and approaching a car on your property with a gun in your hand wouldn't be aggravated assault. Pointing your gun at them could be. Of course it’s tough to talk in generalities about what you can be arrested for; it’s the specifics of that incident that count. You can be arrested for anything. Individual Officers make the decision to arrest based on what they see and are told, and their discretion.
  8. I think they are making those here, is that marked Gallatin?
  9. http://wkrn.com/2017/07/05/man-shot-while-watching-fireworks-in-downtown-nashville/ I would bet alcohol was involved in that. Maybe they should have had breathalyzers instead of metal detectors.
  10. No. The system is bias towards the poor and the working class that thinks justice will be done when they go to court. The working class can hire an attorney. The poor can’t; they get a public defender. Poor or middle class though your outcome is not necessarily determined by your guilt or innocence; it is determined by the deal your attorney can make, who he knows, or how he handles the case at trial. I’ve seen plenty of people go to prison because they couldn’t afford a good defense. I’ve also seen the guilty walk because they had a good attorney. I’ve also seen people charged because they listened to their attorney (who was not there) telling them not to talk to the Police. We don’t have a justice system, we have a legal system and if you are going to get off the porch you better be able to run with the big dogs.
  11. I’m confused. He is saying he thinks the Florida Supreme Court, not the legislature, makes laws?
  12. Never heard of anyone have that happen; so we are all guessing. Were they inked or digitally scanned? I would try to contact Lisa Knight first, she has been very helpful to others here with issues. HCP Program Director, Lisa Knight (615) 251-8590
  13. Smith & Wesson is doing a lot of expansion. If suppressors are removed from NFA they will sell like hotcakes and prices will plummet. Many firearms manufacturers will integrate them into their weapons. Looks like S&W wants to be on top of that. I just wish the new guys running the show had as much concern about the customer service standard they once had.
  14. Thanks for those links. They are pretty much sold out of complete pistol uppers (I assume because of the holiday sales) but I’ll keep that in mind.
  15. Yep, U.S. Code allows for that, but it requires an agreement. Sounds like someone didn’t do their job and is now trying to keep it quiet.
  16. As I understand it I can legally build an AR pistol if I buy a pistol lower and it isn’t NFA? I have been looking for a used PLR-16 or a Diamondback AR Pistol for a trunk gun. However, I see several used AR pistols for sale locally and the prices have come down drastically. So my question is.. If I buy one of these used builds sold as a pistol, and I am stopped, how can I prove it’s a pistol and not a SBR? Are there markings or something? I don’t want to deal with any NFA/BATF drama.
  17. Neither the city of Gatlinburg nor the County of Sevier would be doing the prosecuting; it would be the state of Tennessee. I would guess the state and the Feds have an arrangement for local law enforcement to enforce state law in the parks. (U.S. Code allows for that) Also, just because the fires started on the federal property (if they did) that doesn’t mean that surrounding jurisdictions that suffered losses can’t file charges. But the Feds would have the same problems the state prosecutors had. (Unless of course they had investigators that obtained more evidence than the state had)
  18. You can’t shoot a trespasser. And they probably won’t be arrested unless there is special circumstances or they have been given a trespass warning. I assume this is merely a way of letting people know you are on private property and they don’t want you there.
  19. Of course court convictions are high. By the time you find yourself in court the facts/accusations/evidence/witnesses has been investigated by the responding Officers, usually Detectives (if it’s a serious case), and the DA’s investigators/prosecutors. The jury of your peers gets to see all the evidence, hear firsthand the witnesses, the Officers, the victims, and should they so choose; the accused. We don’t get any of that here; we get the news stories. Are innocent people convicted? Sure. And guilty people are acquitted. Your chances are directly impacted by how much money you have to spend on your defense.
  20. I think it’s the opposite. I saw his interview and he was just trying to get his daughter away from them. They had just fired on the Police. I think they knew they were caught and the cops would shoot them with the slightest provocation. I know I would have. But that’s just my opinion. As he said it may have just been divine intervention; I don’t rule that out either.
  21. All the stories I saw said it was the son of an Anderson County Sheriff’s Office employee. That could be anyone from the Sherriff to the janitor. Of course that is not confirmed. Plenty of stories allege that. I don’t believe in bringing charges as punishment when you know you can’t get a conviction. The arguments they make would be tough for prosecutors to overcome with a jury; especially with juveniles. If that is true; that may impact the decisions about charges.
  22. All that golf and still got more work done than the three of them put together… impressive.
  23. The question “Can anyone strap on a gun and walk down the street regardless of where they live?” will have to eventually be answered by The Supreme Court of the United States. I thought that would have to be answered in Heller or McDonald, I would have never guessed they would rip the baby in half; but they did. This is a States Rights question that the SCOTUS doesn’t want to answer. If they say “Yes, they do.” There are states that will not comply. My guess is Tennessee would be one of them. If they say “No, they don’t” there are states that will outlaw gun ownership. I don’t know how this will play out. I’m a staunch States Rights supporter and don’t want the Feds in charge of anything if I have a choice. The only way the Feds should have a say in whether or not people can carry is if they are responsible for law enforcement. I know Obama was headed towards a large Federal police force and would have gladly jumped on that; but I don’t think very many of us here want that. I suspect this will end the same way it did in Illinois. California will have to have “shall issue” carry permits with reasonable restrictions. I also suspect the court would say (if it ever goes there) that having to prove you have some “special danger” is not a reasonable restriction. Things like Hi cap mags and types of guns will probably be left up to the Federal Districts.
  24. The used market is slow right now; everyone is waiting for the price drops that will have to come. But I wouldn’t think you would have any trouble getting the price of a brand new storm and have money left in your pocket if you sold the Kimber outright. All the big dogs take heat on internet forums, but Kimber is still up there at the top.
  25. The 9th Federal District will find a way to justify the ban.
