  1. Those are the kind of videos they show you in training, and believe me they stick with you.
  2. He has a right to invoke the 5th; and they can fire him for it. Based on the very little bit I have seen; he will be charged criminally. The lack of information being released is ridiculous. And them saying the investigation could take 3-4 months is also crazy. The Officer driving the Patrol car is talking and has given his statement. As soon as a citizen invoked the 5th they would have been arrested; it should be no different for him. I’ve tried to think of what he could be using as a defense, and can’t think of anything. So he heard a loud noise (gun shot) and thought it was an ambush? Even if that was the case you don’t start shooting everyone in the area. Unless there is some astounding revelation in this case; I think he is headed for prison. That is if he is still in the country by the time they decide to arrest him.
  3. Most of these incidents go down before they find out the person has a carry permit; not that it would matter or even be a consideration. Their actions, appearance, and whether or not they are following instructions (especially when a deadly weapon is involved) is what matters. There is no such thing as a “routine” traffic stop was drilled into our heads as they showed the videos and told the stories of cops being killed on traffic stops. I think most of us here agree that more training would be good for everyone involved. I also think most of us here would also agree that if a bad guy or a cop is screaming at you to stop as you grab for your gun; you are about to be shot.
  4. We were taught how to interact with armed citizens. In vehicle stop training we used actors. Some of those actors shot the Officer. The fact that a person is legally carrying doesn’t mean they won’t shoot a cop. I would guess it’s worse now than it was back then; we didn’t have as many people hunting cops. Philando Castile did everything wrong and it cost him his life. We didn’t see and hear all the evidence, but the jury that did apparently decided a reasonable person would think they were in danger of death or great bodily harm under those circumstances. We don’t know now whether he was going to try to shoot that cop or not. Justine Damond wasn’t doing anything wrong (and didn’t have a gun). We don’t know why she was shot and the Officer that shot her is refusing to make a statement.
  5. Exactly. I don’t blame the kids. It’s the parent’s responsibility to teach kids what to do when they are in those type situations; not the schools. If the kids are too stupid to understand what they are being told; so be it. But they deserve to hear the truth and know what their options are and how it will impact them, as well as knowing and understanding their rights. One of the guys I work with said he ask his kids “You know if you try to pull a gun on traffic stop the cops will shoot you; right?” They responded with “Yes”. He said he didn’t think he needed to have that conversation but with the news lately; he thought he should.
  6. Kids should be taught by their parents what to do during a traffic stop; if they don’t know they should find out. Not just about guns, but about everything. I have seen many ridiculous videos by lawyers and statements by people about what their rights are its ridiculous. A lawyer can tell you what is going to happen in the courtroom; a cop can tell you what is going to happen on the street. For example; certainly you have the right to refuse a search, but you don’t have the right to obstruct the Officer if he decides to search anyway. I never asked to search a vehicle I didn’t already have probable cause to search. I ask just to see how the rest of the stop is going to go. If you have something illegal in the car (drugs, alcohol, whatever) you have a choice to make right then on the spot; cooperate or not. Kids have been told for decades the cops need a warrant to search their car; nothing could be farther from the truth. Parents owe their kids to give the proper info or find someone that can. How to deal with cops when you have a gun should be common sense; however as we have seen it is not. Cops aren’t without fault either; but that doesn’t help you or your kid if you are dead. A cop just shot a victim reporting a crime to death because he heard a loud noise. From what little bit has been released he will probably go to prison, but that doesn’t help her one bit; there are people that are carrying guns that are improperly trained or have no business with a gun in the first place, Police and citizens alike. This is the information age; the information is out there. Unfortunately like we have seen here so many times; the information can be wrong. Especially when you start talking in generalities about laws, crossing state lines, etc.
  7. They are real; I had one. I sold it and now I want another one for a trunk gun. Buds and Tombstone Tactical has them pretty often. Tombstone and “Grab A Gun” even sells a combo with the Muzzle Break,Compact Forend,Sling,Deflector Handle for around $550. Armslist has several, but most are new price or more, and none in Tennessee.
  8. That’s a good price. I’m trying to hold off on ordering an AR pistol. But I’m not very good at that.
  9. As you said Hillary didn’t get elected. Nearly a grand (or more) for an AK? I don’t think so. Do you have a good AR10?
  10. I believe North Korea is intentionally making noise about the number of Americans they are holding. If we need to take military action it will need to be swift, brutal and all encompassing. They know we will do all we can to hold back until all Americans and those from other countries are out.
  11. Anyone have one that can give opinions? After selling my PLR-16 I figured out I made a mistake. So I’ve been trying to find a used PLR-16 or a Diamondback DB15. I have never even seen the Diamondback except on the net. I can get it from Buds for $725 new. Since all the used offers have been over new price; I’m thinking about ordering one or the other. I know what I’m getting with the PLR-16, but would like some feedback on the Diamondback DB15. Is it worth the approx. $225 more?
  12. Pretty cool. Is "the fall" just the short distance shown in the picture?
  13. Yes Not on Handguns
  14. A lot of people feel that way. I do most of my shooting in Illinois anymore, so I don’t have a choice.
  15. I don't know for sure, but I would check with Guns N More.
  16. Garufa is correct; there is no reciprocity with Illinois. However; there is Illinois law. Here is a link if you want to read it yourself… http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ilcs3.asp?ActID=3497
  17. If you have a carry permit you are good in your car; not in public. Illinois only requires you to notify if asked. My wife was stopped a couple of weeks ago by a Farina City Police Officer running radar on I-57. I was kind of surprised when the Officer asked for my ID. It took a little longer than it should have to write the ticket and I was wondering if he was waiting on back-up after seeing I have a carry permit. In Tennessee I would have handed my HCP with my license; I wasn’t pushing it in Illinois. Still too many city cops that don’t know the rules. If it was ISP I wouldn’t have hesitated. But no drama, he gave her a ticket and handed me back my license. He was friendly. But yes, if you don’t have a valid HCP; unloaded ammo separate and inaccessible. That was late at night. When I came back though in the daytime a different Farina City cop was there. I’m a former Illinois cop; that’s just something that we didn’t do. If you aren’t responsible for working accidents on a road; you don’t use it as a speed trap.
  18. I don’t guess they are even testing the water, they are just jumping right to the top between Leupold and NightForce (Pricewise). That’s cool if they are of that quality. I wonder if they have designed and made their own, or if they have some offshore builder making them for them. Anyone tried them out yet? http://www.eotechinc.com/precision-rifle-scopes
  19. Don’t they put something down or recommend what to use if they are installing the safe and bolting it down?
  20. Probably Little Sturgis in KY (This weekend) Either that or they are taking their time to get to the real Sturgis; it starts in 18 days.
  21. http://www.remingtonle.com/rifles/700p.htm
  22. Is it THE “Model 700 BDL”? Or is it something like the VLS, or SPS? The Glock 43 is around $450 new. The Remington could be $500 to $1200 depending on what exact model it is. Is it listed here?.... https://www.remington.com/rifles/bolt-action
  23. I need some mags for a DPMS Gen 2 308. Magpul had an issue with the Pmags and the DPMS G2 compatibility; that doesn’t appear to be fixed. I have zero desire to modify a magazine that doesn’t work properly; so I started looking for an alternative. The name Lancer kept coming up. Never heard of them; anyone using Lancer Mags? How to they compare to Pmags? Any others I should be looking at? (non-metal)
  24. So what are we going to use now? I looked at Imgur; it looked pretty lame, but I haven’t joined so I really don’t know. I didn’t like all the pop-ups on PhotoBuckets site, but they were the best I have ever seen for third party hosting. It looks like they just committed suicide; but I guess they have some kind of plan.
  25. Because we fought a war over states’ rights and the SCOTUS probably doesn’t want to have states refuse to abide by their decisions. That is what would happen if the SCOTUS proclaimed everyone could strap on a gun and walk down the street; I would bet Tennessee would be one of those states. Unless you want the Federal government enforcing local laws they don’t have the authority to say who can and can’t carry a gun in a state. (Or shouldn’t) Even when it’s something we want.
