My handgun is to fight my way to my rifle. When I get to it I would like it to be a rifle caliber.

and Grab a Gun shows them as "In Stock" if any of you are trying to find them.

The intent of the law is very clear; if you understand the sign don’t carry a gun. The specifics of the sign requirements are there to make sure the people can see it and understand it. If you didn’t see it or didn’t understand what it meant; you can make an argument. I was just addressing his question as to whether or not his interpretation on the sign requirements makes it legal; it doesn’t. As I said above, I don’t think the state should have squat to say about what permit holders can do at a business one way or the other. The state doesn’t recognize your carrying a gun as a right; it is a privilege we purchase from them. If a business wants to post; so be it. If they don’t want to approach someone carrying a gun past their sign; I can understand that also. They call the cops and let them handle it.

The purpose is so that you will see the sign, and understand what it means. You may be able to get the charged dismissed or be found not guilty if there is some deviation between the sign and the statute. That doesn’t make it legal to carry past it; it just gives you a possible out. Then you have to go unarmed or don’t go. We live in a state where carrying a gun is a crime. We are a “special group” that has bought a “privilege” from the state. Some business owners have decided they don’t want our little “special group” carrying loaded guns in their business. That is their right and we must abide by it. I carry concealed; no one is going to know I have a gun unless they search me. I don’t look especially hard for signs. If I miss one and walk past it and get caught; so be it. If I saw one and knew what it meant, but didn’t think it met the specifications of the statute; I might disregard it. But I would do that knowing full well I could be charged under the statute and it might cost me $500 or time in court. Now having said all that...... I think a lot of time and resources (that could be used for other issues) is wasted on trying to get this changed. I believe you would be hard pressed to find very many people that have been charged under this. I also believe in respecting the rights of others. If the state recognized that the 2nd amendment gives all citizens the right to carry a gun; then there would be an argument for carrying in businesses open to the public. But until that happens we have to respect the wishes of the business owners. EDIT: another potential problem is if it is somewhere you need/want to go all the time. If the Officer goes the trespass warning route, he may tell you the business doesn’t want you back carrying a gun and if you do you will be arrested for trespassing. Or he may tell you the business doesn’t want you back at all, and if you return you will be arrested for trespassing.

Civil debates between intelligent people can be a good thing; I will miss them.

No, don’t assume that because you don’t think the sign meets the requirements of the statute it is legal to carry past it. You could possibly be charged (although we haven’t heard of anyone being charged on this forum that I know of). Then you can explain to the Judge that it’s not a legal sign. A Murfreesboro Officer told me they give a trespass warning. But I’m sure the Officer has the discretion to do whatever he sees fit based on the circumstances. It’s a $500 fine only offense. You would spend more than that on a defense. If I were a Judge or Juror, the only question I would need answered is did you not know what that sign meant when you saw it? As stated above, don’t do business with places that have policies you don’t agree with; spend your money elsewhere.

I just read that preliminary report completely. That is the most detailed, descriptive report that has ever been made public in a mass shooting (That I have seen). Good for the LVMPD. All weapons are documented, along with other materials at the scene. (Along with photos). How the shooter killed himself is documented. Only two questions remain unanswered, why, and how can this be prevented. My belief about “why” is that he was just evil. He was obviously depressed and suicidal. He wanted to die and wanted to take out a bunch of people when he went. Could this have been prevented? I don’t think this could have reasonably been prevented. All the arm chair quarterbacking and ‘what if” scenarios do not change the fact like it said it that report; he had not committed a crime until he fired the first shot. Had the hotel detected him taking all those guns up; they could have notified the cops, but he had committed no crime. This obviously evil person that wanted to kill a bunch of people had a pilot’s license. Think about that.

I owned many shotguns over the years, mostly pumps and mostly 870’s. I didn’t hunt; I had them for field/range toys or for home defense. As I got older they weren’t as much fun to shoot and I got rid of all my shotguns. A couple of years ago I was shooting with friends/family. We get together and shoot handguns, rifles, shotguns. I felt left out when they were shooting shotguns, so I started looking for an autoloader with a recoil absorbing stock. After all my research and reading many reviews and threads; I ordered a Remington 1100 Competition Synthetic. With a 30” barrel and a weight of 8.25 pounds, it’s not really light, but it sure is a cream puff to shoot. I enjoy shooting shotguns again and everyone that has tried it has had a positive response. https://www.remington.com/shotguns/autoloading/model-1100/model-1100-competition-synthetic https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/69672/Remington+1100+COMP+12+30+PB14+AC+SYN

I’m not big on buying foreign guns, but when Beretta built a plant here and was actually making them here; I thought I would give them a try whenever they got the TN marking out there. I have seen post by people saying that the Italian guns don’t have these issues; just the ones made here. Is that true or just BS from those that want to hate on the USA?

Rick Vasquez hasn’t been an ATF employee for six years or more. Is this a reliable source of information? -
This is no different than the selective enforcement of any other law. The ATF is clear and the DEA is clear. The only fix is for either the Feds to make pot legal, or change/remove the question; then you can make all the comparisons to alcohol you like. Change the laws so someone smoking pot can buy a gun legally; I don’t see that happening. I do think you may see changes that make the same thing happen with people prescribed pain killers, depression meds, or other meds that impair judgement or reaction time. That will be a long list the ATF will need new forms.

That’s one of my requirements also, so I’m looking at the Streamlight PROTAC 2L-X. (Its programmable) The other requirement I have is that it can use either 2 123A’s or a rechargeable (18650). I have a surefire Executive Elite E2E; would like to find something like it in the under $50 range. Just started looking.

When it comes to ammo; I’m a Federal fan boy. It’s always done me right. I just picked up a .243 Winchester Model 70 and need some ammo. I’ve used plenty of Power Shok in my .308, but have never used any Non-Typical. I don’t hunt; this will be a range toy punching holes in paper. In reading some of the other web sites folks are saying it’s just Power Shok in a different package. Some even claim to have emails from Federal telling them that. The on-line prices I’m looking at are $4 a box less for Non-Typical. (14.99 vs. 18.99) Anyone here have any experience with it they would care to share?

They need a study to determine that if you tell someone you are a prohibited person or ask them to illegally ship across state lines they probably won’t? The anti-gun crowd really is clueless.

I think the Laws on the use of deadly force are pretty clear in most states. The laws on the use of deadly force when the immediate threat of death or great bodily harm is present are clear in all states I know of. The problem in the cases I have seen is your level of participation in the event that caused the use of deadly force to become an issue. If you are physically attacked by thugs while walking down the street; most Prosecutors Judges and Juries will side with you… if it comes to that. If you are a participant in a road rage incident or a fight; they won’t. Many folks believe that you have a free shoot if someone is in your home or on your property. Even in states with Castle Doctrine that may not be true. But in all states I know of you would be okay if a reasonable person would believe you were in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm.

In reading this as a former Cop and a Father…Do you suspect there is someone else involved besides the 18 year old?

I researched them and it came down to NEST or ARLO. I picked NEST simple because ARLO is rechargeable and I didn’t want to mess with that. NEST just plugs into an outlet and needs access to Wi-Fi. NEST has the highest subscription rates. Its $100 a year for the first camera and $50 for each additional. I pay $150 a year for 2. But you get 10 days of recording, can download and save the recording if you want, you can get instant notifications on your phone, email or both. You can communicate with people though the camera with your phone. The wife got them on sale at Target, buy one get one half off. (About $300 for two cameras on sale, they are $200 each usually, B&H has a 2 pack of outdoor cams for $312.) I had to buy one indoor and one outdoor to get that price. I would have rather had two outdoor cameras as they will work either indoor or out, but that was the deal. My indoor camera looks out the window, unless I take a trip. Video quality and audio is excellent. The indoor Cam is on a stand and can be hidden or is pretty unnoticeable. There is a guy online that has a video on how you can set-up the NEST cameras to record to a hard drive without a subscription. But with the notifications and online storage; I just decided to pay the yearly fee. Good luck with your search.

Federal HST for $20 for box of 50, I've caught it on sale before at $14.99 https://www.targetsportsusa.com/federal-hst-law-enforcement-9mm-luger-ammo-147-grain-jacketed-hollow-point-p9hst2-p-3547.aspx 180 grain 40S&W Federal HST is on sale for $14.99 right now. https://www.targetsportsusa.com/federal-law-enforcement-40-sw-ammo-180-grain-hst-jacketed-hollow-point-p40hst1b-p-55007.aspx They don't ship as fast as some others, but those prices for HST is the best I have seen.

If that was the only question on your science test; you got an F. Check your work.

What guns, gear or training are in your crosshairs for 2018?

I’d like to find a blue S&W Model 39. I also might build an AR pistol for something to do. -
From the Butler Creek website… So, it sounds as though the Multiflex is soft pliable rubber? Other than being able to accommodate a wider range of sizes, this doesn’t sound like an advantage. Sounds harder to rotate and position. I don’t swap caps on scopes so I’m thinking the standard would be a better choice. Anyone used both of these? Or maybe something else that flips up? I would like to have the Leupold Alumina caps, but can’t justify $100.

A box or two of whatever you are going to carry. Federal Hydra-Shok or HST. You can order boxes of 50 online for about what a box of 20 will cost you in the store.

I don’t know but they have different addresses. (573, 575) If you look at the street view in google maps it shows them in the same block but GUN CITY on one building and SHOOTERS on another.
