I don’t see it as a problem. But as a former cop I always ask this… How did the gun become an issue? Obviously there is no issue right now, but why he was stopped and how the gun became an issue would be the determining factors. The Tennessee state law specifically refers to 18 U.S.C. § 922(g). That wouldn’t make it a violation but 18 U.S.C. § 922(b) would. Since they specifically say g I would say you are okay; I could also see it being an issue.

Ask him if it’s ever happened in a state that doesn’t recognize the 2nd amendment as an individual right, and where carrying a gun is a crime. Plenty of lawyers and non-lawyers alike have made the argument you are making; it’s a reasonable argument. The question is…. Has it ever worked? My WAG is no, or businesses wouldn’t be posting. But I could be wrong.
-
Because the state doesn’t recognize your RIGHT to carry, yet you want them to act like it’s a right because you bought a privilege from them. It can’t work that way. The state needs to recognize carry as a RIGHT under the 2nd amendment of the Constitution. Until they do that for ALL citizens of this state the only folks here with RIGHTS are the property owners. If they don’t want me on their property they can post it. If I choose to ignore their wishes I can be cited for the violation. Violating the law has consequences. It is the STATE that refuses to recognize a RIGHT to carry for all citizens. And let’s be frank, you can’t seriously make the argument that because someone has been through a HCP class they are somehow deemed safer than the average citizens to carry a gun.
-
Why should they have to pay? It’s the state saying it’s a crime to carry a gun. The state telling them they have to do anything more than post in a visible location is a reach.

I heard her say that she hadn’t done anything illegal and was staying in office. So I assume elected officials in METRO don’t have a morals clause. If they could fire her they would….if they have fired every man that had an affair. It will be up to the votes in the next election; I don’t see her being reelected.

I’d like to hear what the soldiers that are using them have to say. I think the choice was more about politics and less about the gun; but it is what it is. Good or bad I doubt anything will be done about it until contract renewal time. I'm sure SIG will do whatever they can to fix the problems; if there are any.

Remington Tac14/ Mossberg Shockwave question
DaveTN replied to piper266's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Anytime I’ve seen someone question if they could be charged involving firearms possession my first question is always “How did the firearm become an issue?” Just because the ATF says something is “legal” doesn’t mean you can’t be charged and have to go to trial. A Few years ago a Sumner County DA got a Grand Jury indictment on a HCP holder for possession of an illegal handgun for having a PLR-16 in his car. The DA claimed it was a SBR. An ATF agent was supposedly going to testify at his trial that it was legal. If I recall correctly a friend of the HCP holder was arrested from the HCP holders car with cocaine on him. A deal to dismiss was made with the HCP holder requiring him to sell the PLR-16. Cased closed. I want a small rifle for a trunk gun; so I ordered an AR-Pistol. I think the Pistol I have ordered and the shotgun you are considering both violate the intent of the law. However the AFT says they do not. Will that stop either of us from being arrested by a cop that doesn’t know, or charged by a DA that doesn’t agree with the ATF? I don’t think so. I’m at minimal risk for that happening, but I will carry copies of sales receipts (showing a pistol lower) and copy of any ATF documentation I can find. -
Even if they would fit; it’s not safe. Both the .38S&W case and the bullet are a larger diameter than the .38 Special. If the case went in the cylinder the probability of a squib is high.
-
.38 S&W is an old round hardly made anymore. .38 S&W Special and .38 Special are the same thing. Probably not it only weighs 15.7 OZ.

Yea, I looked at those at Thunder Tactical. I want a finish, so machining a lower isn’t something I’m really interested in, and doesn’t save much if any on the price. If I was going to do that I would just machine the whole thing from billet.

I just went through the appointment issue with my elderly parents. Many doctors will make appointments at the hospital. The hospital (in their case) meant that they didn’t have to try to drive or find a ride. The hospital will go pick them up and take them home for free (with advance sign-up) or they can call for bus to come by on shorter notice ($3.00). That did away with a lot of drama.

Yea, I kinda figured that. I’m a Toolmaker so I have most all the tools with the exception of specialty tools. I figure I’ll get on here sometime and get a list of them so I have them when I decide to build something. Thanks, I'll check with my FFL when I pick up this lower.
-
Now I need a cheap optic for this. This will be a trunk gun. I have an EOTech EXPS2 on another AR and a Vortex Venom on a handgun; so I’m familiar with those. I don’t want to spend that much. Are there any cheap options that are reliable? By cheap I mean ~$100 give or take. If I have to spend more I will, but if I get near the price of the Vortex (~$225) I'll probably put that on it and get something better for the handgun it's on.

I guess I’ll have to find out if my transferring dealer would charge one or five times the transfer fee.
-
That’s true. Or I can just wait until the next relapse; it’s not like I’m cured or anything.

EDIT ADDED
-
Agreed…. But also know that a .357 Mag will also shoot .38’s and are basically the same size and weight of their .38 only counterparts. Adjustable sights will be another factor in determining Model number.

Bill does not say she wants to carry it. She knows she wants speed loaders…she may be looking for a target/range gun or a home defense gun. Or she have been watching Julie Golob or Jessie Duff and decided she wants to do that. A J-frame is an option for carry, but not for a target/range gun. A K-frame or L-frame will be much lower felt recoil than a J-frame when shooting .38’s, excellent home defense weapon, and excellent target/range/competition gun. Bill we need more info on what she wants to use it for, and if she has ever shot a full size revolver; sounds like maybe she has.

That would be great.

I knew I wasn’t going to make it through the day. I just placed an order with PSA for an AR Pistol upper and lower. I am a terrible person no longer in control of this sickness. Now that we have that settled; time to move on and find that Model 39 I NEED.
-
Thanks Ronald…. Order placed. Upper and lower are both Blems, but I’ll take the chance. I kinda wanted to build one myself, but I guess I'll do that on the next one.

[Meatloaf Voice on] I'll do anything... but I won't do that. [Meatloaf voice OFF]

I was looking around on his site for pricing and found the following statement.. I guess Jesse put that there to keep out the riffraff.

I’m not interested in pistol or designer calibers. Just a straight forward 5.56/.223 AR Pistol kit with about a 10” barrel and no A2 front sight.
