  1. I can’t watch CNN it would burn my eyes. I think I will wait to read your review.
  2. Okay I should have used some other word besides ridiculous; I just couldn’t think one at the time, Sorry. The facts tell us that the Vegas shooter stopped shooting and killed himself while he still had plenty of ammo and functioning weapons. But we don’t know why. My own theory is that he thought the cops were coming through the door; but that’s just a WAG. Had he not been able to fire nearly as many rounds in that initial salvo before people started taking cover; I think it’s safe to say fewer people would be dead. Most everyone that heard it said “That’s machine gun fire!”. It may not have been a machine gun by the letter of the law, but it certainly was a machine gun. And the intent of the law was violated. So we fix that. We owe it to the public to fix that.
  3. You are correct, but I don’t know why it didn’t work. I worked traffic for three years when I started on the PD and I would say I arrested far more 30-40 year old drunks than I did youngsters.
  4. No it’s not; quite the opposite. Rational people are trying to come up with plans that will keeps folks safer while not infringing on the 2nd amendment any more than they already are. Bumps stocks are a clear violation of the intent of the ban on automatic weapons. More people would probably be alive today if the shooter in Vegas hadn’t had access to them. For common sense gun owners to think if we agree that bump stocks violate the intent of the law, and agree with banning them we will somehow be rolled over by the anti-gun folks is ridiculous. As far as the age thing goes, I was 17 when I joined the military during Vietnam. I was old enough to join the military, carry small arms and be responsible while being around Ballistic Nuclear Weapons; but not responsible enough to buy a beer. So I’m probably not the best person to ask. But I believe if you are old enough to make the decision to protect your country with your life; you are old enough to vote, drink, and buy a gun. I do understand though that the military can take a very immature individual and turn them into a responsible adult in a very short period of time. If we can’t attempt to make changes with Trump in the White House and the Republicans having control of the house; then it’s only a matter of time until we lose it all. But we can’t fix anything if we want gun owners to stand united in support of bump stocks (Not that it will happen). Let’s deal with the mental health issue, let’s deals with nut cases openly making violent threats, let’s get the medical community to tell us if half the kids in school really need to be drugged.
  5. Sure Tennessee is more gun friendly than some other states; but our state still violates the 2nd amendment. Absolutely the NFA violates the Constitution; that’s a given. I also don’t give a rip what some ATF agent’s opinion is on bump stocks. I don’t want an ATF agent making law any more than I want an FBI agent doing it. That’s up to the legislature and the courts. The legislature is going to step in and fix a decision that some half witted ATF agent should have never been allowed to make in the first place. My point is that Trump is talking with the victims that want answers about what is going to happen. He has to look them in the eye, so do we. We will do what we can without giving up our gun rights.
  6. So don’t lose it. Just get a quote on moving it and have the seller agree to pay it. You absolutely need a real estate attorney when closing on a house.
  7. I’ve seen to many guns go sliding across the pavement to not secure mine. But you see it a lot.
  8. Most of the public understands the difference between a semi and full auto. A Bump stock violates the intent of the law. It’s going to be banned. I just hope those in the discussion on our side keep the language so it doesn’t impact other triggers that don’t violate the intent of the law.
  9. 15 seconds of fame. But I think some duct tape could fix this....................
  10. Exactly, Trump is listening. We (pro gun folks) can cross our arms, and refuse all discussions; but that won’t work. Kids and parents across the country are looking at what they can do to keep from getting shot to death. If the problem is not guns, but nuts with guns, then we need to step up and have discussions about what can be done. If it turns into a bunch of gun owners trying to protect bump stocks, and other obvious violations of the intent of the law, and trying to protect the gun rights of the mentally ill; I know how it will end. Both sides on this debate have people on the fringes that aren’t intelligent enough to have these conversations. We can’t let them steer the ship.
  11. The Website says they are in Vancouver, WA.
  12. You need to talk to a lawyer in your area. Sometimes failure to act when property is in dispute can cause transfer of it regardless of what the survey shows. The laws aren’t fair or just; they are just the laws.
  13. I have never really been involved with NFA items so I’m not sure how this works. Does the BATF have final say on if something is illegal or not? What if a Judge disagrees with the BATF? I’m asking because you guys are specifically talking about bump stocks. The NFA outlaws machine guns for private ownership (unless of course you pay the government). Bump stocks are clearly aimed at circumventing that law. For all intents and purposes they turn a semi-auto AR in a full auto machine gun. Now, you can argue legalities and semantics all day long; but a child could figure that out. Timney, Geissele, and Apex triggers don’t do that and aren’t like a bump stock in any way shape or form. We all knew when we saw the carnage in Vegas that bump stocks would be dealt with. Now some of you act all surprised and start saying the sky is falling; but I don’t think most of us are surprised by this. Bump stocks violate the intent of the law. If you think you should be able to have a fully automatic weapon (and I do) then get the law changed. But don’t act appalled that someone is actually doing something. Will the age limit be raised to 21 for rifles? Probably. Will background checks and the system be changed? Probably. Will drug prescriptions and mental health diagnosis become disqualifiers? Probably. Why? Because most voters are good with that. Will AR-15’s be banned? Doubtful at this time. But as soon as the Dems or regular politicians take back over it will be one of the first things on their agenda. After all this Russian collusion non-sense is over with what do think these left wing drama queens and the MSM is going to focus on? Guns.
  14. JC we can always count on you to start quoting percentages; most of them made up by you on the spot. However, the percentage of being in a school shooting is extremely low. The chances of being in a plane crash are extremely low; but I doubt that mattered to the survivors in the plane that fireballed down the runway at Sioux City as it was happening. And I’m sure a lot of parents put themselves in the place of those parents in Florida just as they did during Sandy Hook, parents that never thought it would happen to them....until it did You have made it clear on many occasions that you don’t like or trust cops and they should be volunteers from the community; that’s fine. But cops that work the street have an advantage. You can train all day long for weeks on end and never know what it’s like to be in a real shooting. Sure, most cops haven’t been in a shooting either, but cops deal with high stress situations day in and day out; that helps them deal with the situations that may arise. I smile when I see people talking about “shot placement”. There is more to a shooting than hitting the target, especially when the target has a gun also. Am I justified in what I am about do? Have I exhausted all other possibilities? Can I fire without hitting innocent bystanders? Two Officers should be able to cover most any school. And I say two in case one gets called away or has to go deal with a problem. This is 2018 for a few thousand (or less) bucks you can have high resolution cameras and monitors all over the place that the Cops/office personnel/Teachers’ lounge can all see.
  15. Because there is no need to use untrained people unless you are saying your schools can’t afford trained people. If you can’t get any help from your local PD, the state or the Feds; then yes, HCP holders might be better than nothing. Sorry, but I would pull my kid out of school if they said the best they could afford was someone with an HCP. I have been to an HCP class; you can’t even pretend that’s a training class; that’s an information class.
  16. Since there were students leaving for the day at that time, and he shot two people as he entered, I assumed either he went through an unsecured door or pointed his rifle at someone and made them open it.
  17. Did this kid work? Not that it matters but I just wonder where he got the money to buy at least 7 guns?
  18. I’ll add to this. I’ve owned several M&Ps since they came out, and own 4 now. I never understood the complaints about the trigger; all of mine were good. A little over a year ago I bought a C.O.R.E Pro that was supposedly a Performance Center model. The trigger was absolutely terrible. It went back to S&W twice. I was assured they would take care of it. Long story short…they did nothing, and said nothing was wrong with it. I had to replace it with an Apex before I even used it. So all triggers are not created equal…even on the same model.
  19. Good idea...Thanks
  20. I brought that up before. The issues is that’s not (g). I think a cop or a Prosecutor could roll with it, that’s why I said it would probably depend on how the gun became an issue.
  21. And that’s another reason the school District may not like having their teachers train with the Police; the School District may lose a lot of the teachers to the Police Department and the Police Department may have a lot of new Officers with teaching degrees.
  22. My ex-wife retired a school teacher. My daughter was a school teacher, but she got tired of not being able to do anything about the problem; so she became a Probation Officer.
  23. I don’t think I’ll be accused of being a liberal so; what pro-gun legislation are they blocking. If we are being truthful and stating facts the facts show that gun laws are getting less restrictive not more restrictive. Of course it’s an emotional response for the left; it is for the right also. What pro-gun legislation do we need that has to do with schools and won’t be blocked by the students or the parents of the students?
  24. Huh? That store is open 24 hours. The cops showed up on a silent alarm and no one in the store was acting on someone smashing up the gun case and loading guns?
  25. What do private schools in the state do? Are they using armed Security Guards, paying Cops, or doing nothing?
