Kroger to stop selling evil gun magazines

Wasn’t Kroger the one that stood up to the Moms demand action when they boycotted them because they wouldn’t post? -
Nationwide school "walk out" for gun control laws
DaveTN replied to tercel89's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There has to be discussion. And if you aren’t involved in it decisions will be made without your input. The kids just don’t want to be killed and we need to acknowledge that. They need adult input about what can be done; not what can’t be done. I’m more than willing to have that conversation with anyone. I know a lot of things that need to be done; none involve disarming the people. Some involve expanded background checks. Do I think those expanded background checks will work? Absolutely not; but they can’t hurt, unless they are done by places like the TBI that can’t seem to get it right. Is the liberal gun hating left going to use these kids to push their gun control agenda? Of course they are. That’s why these kids need to hear intelligent discussions from us instead of “You aren’t taking my guns!!” -
I have only seen the news reports; not the law. But I haven’t seen any mention of any being grandfathered.

So the fix for keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally ill is to make them cost more? Huh; imagine that. Who knew it was so simple.
-
I’ll admit that I haven’t read that whole “Rule making process”. Having said that... so some ATF agent decides that although a bump stock clearly violates the intent of the law it doesn’t violate the letter of the law and then puts their “stamp” of approval on it. Then a Prosecutor somewhere decides to charge someone with violating the law. The Prosecutor sends the case to a Judge that decides using a bump stock violates the law. What happens here? Does the decision of the Judge stand or does a BATF agent have the power to trump the authority of a Judge? And… are we supposed to be terrible gun owners because we see that the bump stock clearly violates the intent of the law to outlaw automatic weapons and don’t have a problem with banning it? The whole 2nd amendment is doomed and all our guns are going to be taken away because an ATF agent made a decision he clearly didn’t have the mental capacity to make?

Absolutely. And if Trump hadn’t been elected they would be banning AR’s instead of bump stocks.

Usually LEO’s are perceived to get special treatment because they know and use the best attorneys. Everyone has that available to them if they have the money. As I have said many times; if you are going to court you will get exactly as much justice as you can afford. That’s not right; but it’s the way it is. The courts and the prosecutors didn’t allow him to keep his retirement; Metro PD and Chief Anderson did that. His attorney and the Prosecutors are the ones that made sure he didn’t have a felony conviction when this is out of the news cycle. Don’t get me wrong… I doubted that this guy ripped anyone off simply because he was having an affair. But apparently he was because he pled guilty to a felony. He should lose his gun privileges and have to apply for an expungement just like any other convicted felon. I’m also curious; does Metro PD usually allow Officers their retirement after they have been charged and convicted of a felony that is directly related to their job performance? That’s ridiculous.

Do high schools in Tennessee not have full time regular Police Officers at the school?
-
One size doesn’t fit all. I assume state law will dictate what is going to happen. I suspect in the schools where teachers are allowed to carry, the parents will not stand still for the teachers that volunteer not having the same training as local Police. But I don’t see this really being an issue. I would bet that most schools will find out they can afford to have full time Police Officers.

Sounds like you have figured out most any of the rubber grips are comfortable and work great for the range. The problem for carry is that they hang up on everything and are butt ugly. All of them. I know you didn’t ask about wood, but IMO that’s the way to go for your application. http://ahrendsgripsusa.com/revolver.htm https://www.altamontco.com/pistol-grips/smith-and-wesson

It’s kinda like arguing an AR isn’t an assault rifle. You may be technically correct; but not many people are going to care.

How could you miss it?

He doesn’t know any more about what happened than the rest of us. This is just more cop hating babble and belongs in the swamp.
-
When I first heard the cop didn’t go in I thought the same thing. It was hard for me to believe that an Officer that had enough time in to retire would freeze. But when I heard the Sheriff ripping him I figured it must be true. Then a co-worker came in and said “Did you hear the latest, three other cops stood by and did nothing!”. I said “Okay, now I know its BS. Four cops didn’t stand around doing nothing while those kids were being killed; that didn’t happen.” So I don’t know what happened. None of the LE agency’s involved want to give us the info, and the MSM is lying.

Yes. As those of us that support him know; he speaks whatever is on his mind and hides nothing. Those that hate him use those statements to jump on everything he says. It is what it is. As far as being over; I think you will see Congress ban bump stocks and raise the age to 21. I think big changes will be proposed on background checks, but I suspect it will be both sides that fight them because neither side will want their mental health information available to the government. I hate hearing “Close the GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE” because using that term is not being truthful, and many folks don’t understand that. It is “STOP PRIVATE GUN SALES WITHOUT A BACKGROUND CHECK IN ALL STATES.” That will become a States Rights issue and because of that probably be argued for a long time with it eventually being decided by the SCOTUS if passed. Even though background checks will no more keep a mass shooter from getting a gun than drug laws keep drug abusers from getting drugs; we will see changes in the background check system.

The Supreme Court of the United States will ultimately have to answer the question “Does an assault rifle ban violate the 2nd amendment?” Whether or not we can continue to purchase and use our AR’s will depend on that ruling. The other question they will one day need to answer (that should be now) is “Can a U.S. Citizen in any state strap on a gun and walk down the street legally?” First off, let’s not get lost in the definition of an Assault Rifle”. The AR-15 has clearly proven itself as an Assault Rifle and any legislation will include it as such. The 2nd amendment had zero intent of making sure you could hunt or even protect your family and home. So we are left with the argument that the 2nd amendment is in place to make sure “The People” have the ability to overthrow a tyrannical government. That’s a popular argument, but is it one that will help us keep our AR’s? Another popular opinion is that it has nothing to do with individuals and protected state Militias from Federal takeover. That certainly doesn’t help us. So… if you believe we have the 2nd amendment is in place to protect us from a tyrannical government; what about machine guns, hand grenades, tanks and even Nuclear weapons. A Tyrannical government would have all those things. As recent as 2016 the SCOTUS has said “the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding,” So how is the outlawing of citizens to have M16’s not unconstitutional? Another possibility is that the SCOTUS refuses to hear these cases and allows States “Reasonable Restrictions”. But I don't think they can dodge this forever. What do you think is going to happen?? Discuss.

It wasn’t empty when he reappeared. She emptied it between that time and the time he got hold of her and got his hand on the gun. He was unarmed at that time and she was clearly justified in continuing to shoot him.

Not able to buy ammo at Walmart past 9PM
DaveTN replied to tnvarmint's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There are plenty of threads like this on various gun forums. As we know it’s not the law; state (here) or Federal. And it doesn’t appear to even be a Walmart policy. It appears that Walmart lets their Store Managers make that policy if they like. -
No, he was armed with a shotgun. He dropped it when she shot him. She continued to fire as he came after her. She knew the gun was empty when he took it. These two women obviously did a good job. They just didn’t have the proper tools to end this quickly.

You don’t need one; you have some quality rifles already. Your M1A’s will do anything an AR will do; only much better. Unless you perceive getting into a situation where you need multiple 30 round magazines of underpowered rifle ammo. You aren’t missing anything. I’ve owned several over the years and own four right now, a .22 LR, a 5.56/.223, a 7.62/308, and a .223 pistol. With the exception of the .308 (My go to SHTF rifle) and the pistol (trunk gun) they are just range toys. I won’t say I have never had a malfunction with an AR; but I can’t remember one right now. I have them simply because I can. I have a lot of guns that I don’t use or carry very often but just wanted them to play with. I know it’s not popular to call guns “Toys” but that’s exactly what they are to me. If you are just looking for something to buy, do you have a quality bolt action rifle with a quality scope than can make a 1000 yard shot? Do I think AR’s will be outlawed? Possibly by some of the states, but I doubt the Feds do it. When the Dems get back in power if they get it done we don’t know that they will be Grandfathered or transferable to family members. But if that happens I doubt your Garand or M1A’s will be safe either.
