David Hogg is coming to FedEx in Memphis
DaveTN replied to sheepdawg's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Calling him “Hitler” isn’t fair. He’s a school kid that survived a shooting and the killing of his classmates. He has his opinion and is free to speak it wherever they allow him to do so. His calls for gun control will have no more impact than any others. He is laying the ground work for his career in politics. But if he wants FedEx to refuse discounts to businesses that are members of the NRA; his political career will go down in flames. -
Almost. But that could be why.
-
Good. I can't believe CNN isn't questioning why he was shot after he left the restaurant.

What would it teach them; don’t do it? Through no fault of their own it is tough to be competitive because they can’t be price competitive. Gun Distributors take a cut from the small shops and add no value. They obviously don’t keep much inventory if my local dealer tells me “I can order it, but I have no way to tell when it would come in.” Local dealers have to charge tax, online dealers don’t. Even though folks are supposed to pay that tax I’m guessing many don’t. The first problem needs to be fixed by FFL’s being able to order direct from the manufacturers. But I don’t see the big boys making any changes. The second problem I believe is about to be fixed. We see folks on the gun forums complaining about how they were treated at a dealer. Then the dealer is gone. An area can only support so many FFL’s. So only the strong survive.

I don’t think anyone is implying that those who kill in self-defense go to prison; I’m certainly not. If they are in prison they couldn’t convince a DA, Judge or jury they were acting in self-defense.

Wishful thinking for Amazon. I’m pretty sure the press picked to cover the wedding knew who those guests were.
-
Yes, sorry.
-
I’ve never understood the thinking behind it either. Two different criminals go to two different stores and commit an armed robbery; they both shoot the clerk. One clerk dies and one doesn’t. One criminal gets less time. Why? The intent was the same. I don’t care that the shooter didn’t have daddy in his life, I don’t care that he was raised in a bad environment, and I don’t care that he was a minor. And I doubt that the victims care either. Violent criminals should never be able to walk free again. Our laws need to change.
-
It’s getting harder and harder to be a criminal. I wonder if Amazon can stand the heat? I had no doubt they are in this for the money and not for helping communities; but anyway… The ALCU is already crying foul. No doubt this will be headed to the courts. http://time.com/5287571/aclu-amazon-facial-recognition-software-police/

Most of us don’t carry a copy of our DD-214. There have been a lot of advantages and discounts for Veterans but many require an ID card. Unless you retired from the military or are in the VA system most of us don’t have one. When GM offered a Veterans discount I had to go home and get a copy of my DD-214. Now you can get a Veterans ID card. I didn’t know about this until my wife told me a lot of her shopping offers veteran’s discounts. So I looked into it. I don't have mine yet and don't know how long it takes. https://www.military.com/militaryadvantage/2018/02/16/should-you-get-new-veteran-id-card.html https://www.vets.gov/

We need a law and order approach. I see this morning that someone was proposing stiffer punishment for killing Police Officers. I find it ridiculous that a politician or anyone else thinks killing a Police Officer, Teacher, Old Person or a minority is somehow more of a “hate” crime than killing a convenience store clerk or a citizen in a robbery, or killing a family member or neighbor in an act of violence. My fix for this is very simple; you threaten someone with a deadly weapon and you do a minimum of 10 years in prison, use that weapon on them (whether they die or not) and you never get out. If there was ever a crime that deserved mandatory sentencing it’s trying to kill someone.
-
Right, left or center, anyone making death threats should go to prison. They only do it because they think they can get away with it. They need to be shown how wrong they are.
-
Who is that quote from?
-
Agreed. But the liberal (and some conservative) parents don’t want their kids rights infringed on. They are more than willing to refuse the rights of the kids that want to live (That is until their kid has been placed in harms way) by spouting off some Ben Franklin quotes. This already carries at least life in prison, and the death penalty in many states. So obviously there is nothing they can put in the law as a deterrent. And some refuse to believe that deadly force is the only option to stop a criminal that has made the choice to kill people. They also don’t seem to be able to grasp the FACT that guns, like drugs, will be available no matter what restrictions are put on them. You must be able to make a criminal unwilling or unable to fire his weapon. At the present time I only know one way to do that.
-
Exactly. It’s not about gun control it’s about the family and mental health. Although background checks wouldn’t have changed anything in most of the shootings; changes are coming. Most of these shooters committed no crime prior to entering the schools grounds or prior to opening fire when not at a school. As we have seen, many have had either mental health issues or have been reported to the police. I think the change that we will see in the future will be that violent speech will no longer be protected speech. I also think we will see all arrests for violence or threats become disqualifiers for any firearm purchase or possession.

Good for her. http://insider.foxnews.com/2018/05/17/kent-state-graduates-gun-photo-goes-viral-fox-friends-interview A recent Kent State University graduate is going viral for taking aim at her school’s gun policies in a photo shoot on campus where she carried an AR-10 and a graduation cap that said, “Come and take it.” Kaitlin Bennett, 22, posed in front of the Kent Student Center to draw attention to the "insulting" gun policies on campus that allow guests to open carry, but not students. Now that I graduated from Kent State, I can finally arm myself on campus. I should have been able to do so as a student- especially since 4 unarmed students were shot and killed by the government on this campus. I have no apologies for my graduation photos. As a woman, I refuse to be a victim & the second amendment ensures that I don't have to be. "If guests can arm themselves and protect themselves, I should be able to as well," Bennett said on "Fox & Friends."

So he’s on psychiatric meds, has several guns in his hotel room, and says he’s hunting terrorists. No red flags there. -
This is Max. We lost our Harley 5 years ago. He was 13 and the best Doberman ever. We decided it was time and brought Max home 6 weeks ago. I don’t remember Harley trying to bite or eat everything he came in contact with; but maybe it did. A new puppy is certainly keeping us on our toes.

I haven’t got a 2.0 Compact yet, but I will. For me, concealment is more dependent on width than length. Accuracy is absolutely dependent on length. There is only 1.3 Oz difference is the 3.6 and 4 inch models. I think I’ll probably go with the 4” since I see no advantage to the 3.6”. But I guess I’ll need to see them both.

I have wanted to give that Victory a try since I first saw it. But I really would like a longer barrel without having to buy a Volquartsen. I figure as soon as I buy one they’ll come out with a longer barrel the next week. I run CCI mini mags in all my .22’s and don’t have any issues.

Five days canoe camping on the Eleven Point River.

Sounds like you had a great time and a great trip. But why the fear of Illinois? I can have a gun in my car on a TN HCP in Illinois. Is there some issue with a NC permit? -
Oklahoma governor vetoes gun carry bill in defeat for NRA
DaveTN replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That money and those jobs are obviously more important to her than the citizens’ basic right to protect themselves and their families. However I doubt those numbers are accurate. I think most carry permit holders would continue to get permits because they would be required by other states. I wonder if her veto can be overridden? -
Depends on what your expectations are. An inside antenna won’t have much transmit range, but no one will be able to tell you how much range it will have (way too many variables). That’s as good a brand as any; I would try it if inside was my only option.
