  1. The hands of Chicago Police have been tied. They say they are staying in their cars unless directly detailed to something because being proactive will cost them their job. This is exactly what the liberals and criminals wanted. That will not work; they will eventually discover that. The question is will they discover it in time to reverse the damage. They now want a citizen’s advisor board to investigate, discipline, and make the decision if cops are charged. If that happens I suspect most good cops will quit, leaving Chicago with nothing but a pool of thugs to choose their Police officers from. At the rate things are going in Chicago due to mismanagement and crooked politicians; the Feds will eventually have to step in. Of course that would require Sessions to do something; so unless Trump gives him specific orders on how to do his job I doubt that will happen.
  2. I have an irrational fear of Wasps. I am serious when I say a criminal with a gun doesn’t scare me like a Wasp. Wasps are the devil.
  3. You could probably legally make that structure and call it a storm shelter. (Because it would be excellent for that) Of course where I live I would have to pull a permit and have it inspected. If someone called in and said you were shooting in it you would have a problem.
  4. Without knowing what your local laws are, I would say it would also depend on how and why it becomes an issue. I haven’t seen many laws prohibiting it that allow for it being in a bunker. I wouldn’t think many city officials would want to sign off on it being “Safe”. Just move to the country.
  5. I’m looking at these lights. Obviously for different applications. The HL 5-X would be used around the house; the HL USB would be for everyday carry. It’s a little big so I’m also considering the 2L-X USB for carry if I decide to go smaller. I’m just using these as a standard flashlight, not a weapon light. I want USB rechargeable 18650 batteries in whatever I get. I would appreciate anyone’s opinions that have these. https://www.streamlight.com/en/products/detail/index/protac-hl-5-x https://www.streamlight.com/en/products/detail/index/protac-hl-usb https://www.streamlight.com/products/detail/index/protac-2l-x
  6. I’m not aware of anything specifically having to do with Glocks, but we (Gun forum users) see plenty of guns damaged by reloads. It appears to be improper loads and cracked or damaged cases. I have always assumed it’s like anything else; people not knowing what they are doing.
  7. It doesn’t have anything to do with gun laws. Memphis has a higher murder rate than Chicago and citizens there are armed. It has to do with deciding who is running the city; the gangs or the people. Untie the hands of the cops and tell them to stop the problem, call in ICE and give them a free hand, get some hard core prosecutors, sit back and watch.
  8. Those darn gun owners. We clearly need more laws against burglarizing vehicles.
  9. I have always thought these insurance companies, no matter who is offering it, is not being straightforward in their advertising. From the posts I have seen on various forums gun owners seem to think that if they are charged with a crime this insurance will cover their legal costs. I am not an attorney, but I doubt that. It might if it is determined in court they were justified, but if convicted or making a plea bargain; I doubt it. At one time (a long time ago) I searched and could not find a documented case of any of these policies paying for defense costs in a criminal trial, much less with a conviction. Maybe one of our forum attorneys that have experience with this in Tennessee will comment, as I’m sure state laws probably vary. However, I still don’t know why dropping this insurance would put the NRA at risk.
  10. I see. So I guess the NRA is saying they can’t find insurance companies or financial institutions that don’t care if they do business with the state on New York?? I can’t help but think maybe this is mainly over “Carry Guard”?? I just don’t believe that any of those insurance policies is going to pay your legal bills in a bad shoot. I’m sure they get a lot of laughs if they are trying to outsource that to insurance companies and get a reasonable price.
  11. I’m a little confused. Como and the State of New York stopping “Carry Guard” and restricting access to financial institutions is going to cause the NRA to fold?
  12. I’ll say it again…. Being stupid should hurt.
  13. It’s legal, but the law requires you notify the carrier. UPS and FedEx won’t ship it as soon as you do that (unless its going to an FFL). It’s illegal to ship a handgun USPS (unless you are an FFL). Your responsibility as a seller is to make sure they are of age, a resident of this state, and you do not know they are a convicted felon (Or otherwise prohibited).
  14. So 11,000 firearms in or from Tennessee were traced by the ATF. We don't know why they were traced, and we don't know if they were involved in a crime. If they were involved in a crime they could have been taken or stolen from an innocent victim. From the ATF report....
  15. Like anything….technology moves on. The link below is where 3D printing is headed. I just retired from the Aerospace industry. Shops have been watching the printing technology very closely. At this point in time it’s very costly and limited in size and material. Like EDM, Laser, Plasma, Powered Metal, etc, this technology will have things it can be used for and things it can’t. I don’t see it impacting the gun industry anytime soon. Physics and metallurgy are still running the show. As far as these 3D models go… Anyone that has Catia, Solidworks or any other 3D modeling package has the ability to make a 3D model. 2D Cad Drawings can quickly be turned into 3D models. I have several of them, so I fail to see the big issue here as it pertains to models. Many people seem to think something magical or mystical is happening here; it isn’t. Boeing uses first FAA-approved 3D-printed parts for the 787 https://www.engadget.com/2017/04/11/boeing-faa-approved-3d-printed-metals-787/
  16. The drama here is because those doing the news stories and those commenting on what can be done are clueless. Those who have the skill set have had the ability to make fully functioning untraceable firearms for decades. Those that don’t have the skill set have been making zip guns for decades. I don’t care what they do one way or the other, but there are already laws against all the things they are worried about happening.
  17. Go ride it around Nashville. You’ll remember why you aren’t riding.
  18. On line 7 you check INDIVIDUAL. On line 15 under TITLE you put COLLECTOR.
  19. Unless it’s laying in plain view, I will never blame anyone for having anything stolen from their locked car; including a gun. This is solely the fault of a criminal.
  20. Could be. It also could be because most of those people are guilty and have no reason not to go to trial. Don’t think for a minute that there aren’t plenty of citizens that believe if the cops arrested you and the DA charged you; you committed a crime.
  21. I’m sure there are all levels of desire among different folks. The range runs from those that want to shoot someone, to those that don’t, to those that aren’t sure if they could even if they needed to. There isn’t a test you can take. It’s one of the few things you can try to prepare for but you truly don’t know what your reaction will be in those couple of seconds. Those same type feelings run through jurors. As when have seen here and on the news there are those that will think you have acted unlawfully if you shoot even when a weapon is being pulled on you to those that don’t care what you did if you shot a violent criminal. The law isn’t black and white and that’s why we see such differences in court cases. No two cases are the same. In most cases jurors are going to apply the hypothetical “Reasonable Person” in making their decisions. They don’t apply what they think you were thinking; they see themselves as a reasonable person and generally apply what they would have done. Except that now they have had hours or even days to decide what you had a couple of seconds to decide. I don’t ever want to test the jury system. If I’m at trial for a shooting the investigators, the DA, or both think I committed a crime. That’s why deals are made; you don’t know what a jury will do. Years ago when that attorney in Nashville went to trial for murder I saw a news story that said violent felonies that went to trial in Davidson County had an 80% conviction rate. Those are not good odds.
  22. Yes, but the SCOTUS has allowed reasonable restrictions; not extensive regulations and limitations. Since the SCOTUS has rejected any gun, anywhere, any time; we will now go through years of what reasonable restrictions by the states are. The 10th Circuit ruled that New York was okay with requiring people to show a special need to defend themselves by carrying in public. The SCOTUS refused to hear that case without comment. I’m surprised to see these rulings out of the 9th. I don’t think they care even one little bit if the SCOTUS overrules them. Maybe they have decided to do their job. Okay, well maybe not, but we can hope. The 7th also ruled that Illinois could not totally ban carry. This year they ruled a ban on carry near parks was unconstitutional.
  23. On the Florida shooting, after watching the video... With the Sherriff saying he was within the law, even if he is charged he probably won’t be convicted; just financially destroyed. I’ll take an azz whipping before I shoot someone. But then I wouldn’t be in that situation; I don’t get in arguments when I’m armed. However… because of the violent attack I couldn’t convict the shooter. Don’t be a thug; it could get you shot. I have a responsibility to my family. Besides staying alive, part of that responsibility is staying out of prison and not financially destroying the family. I have seen first hand as a cop how our legal system works; I do not want to test the deadly force laws.
  24. I know I can bypass the ballast in those. I was just wondering if you guys found anything locally that would work. I went to Lowes and Home Depot and everything I found needed a ballast and was only available in a 10 pack.
  25. I can’t find anything locally that will allow bypassing the ballast. Where are you guys finding them locally? This is what I'm looking at on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Dual-End-Powered-Fluorescent-Replacement-Fixtures/dp/B075RW7RPR/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1532358608&sr=8-20&keywords=SkyGenius+led
