As a citizen, if I forgot and left my car unlocked I wouldn’t expect to be arrested because a criminal entered it and committed a burglary. As a cop, I had many times where I bailed out of my car in pursuit of a criminal, left the keys in it with it running and a shotgun in the car. If a criminal decided to jump in and steal it or take something out of it; that’s on him, not me. I would feel the same if an HCP holder had his gun stolen out of his car. Locked or not.

I will have to check that out tonight. I assume the problems are the same as always... 1. Interpretations of our laws and the Constitution usually do not allow action to be taken until a crime is committed. 2. As with any crime involving an armed perp the victims usually don’t have the ability to make the shooter unwilling or unable to fire his weapon.

Let’s discuss rechargeable flashlight batteries & chargers
DaveTN replied to DaveTN's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Thanks, I went with the Nitecore D4. I want to stick with one battery type I will use with all my lights. That will be the 18650 button top. I’m not buying anything that isn’t protected. I got the Streamlight Pro Tac HL 5-X USB, It is a beast. I’m happy with it, just don’t like the switch and programming. (Maybe I’ll get used to it.) I just ordered a Fenix pd35 v2.0 for my smaller carry light. It should be here Wednesday. -

I’d be here all day trying to pick 5 or even 10, or more. We had the greatest music of all time. I’m sure all generations say that; but with us it’s an undisputed fact.

I got my Streamlight PROTAC HL 5-X USB a couple of days ago. At 3500 lumens this thing is a monster amount of light in a reasonable size package. I really like this light but the “TEN TAP” programming and the switch sucks. Maybe I’ll get used to it. I was going to also get the PROTAC 2L-X USB for my pocket carry light but after seeing the programming and switch from Streamlight I ordered the Fenix PD35 V2.0. It will be here next week.

INSANE Dashcam Footage Shows Roadside Shootout between Police, Suspect
DaveTN replied to volshayes's topic in General Chat
Cops see plenty of those videos and study plenty of Officer involved shootings when they are in training. It’s why they shoot people that they think are trying to pull a weapon to kill them; because most of the time they are. Glad the Officers lived through that. The shooter was convicted; hopefully he will never walk free again. It also shows the effects of an adrenalin rush, the Officer kept yelling for him to get on his back; he was on his back. I think they wanted him on his stomach. -
Bratton Brothers did my 6Ft. Black Vinyl chain link. They removed the old fence and put in the new. They were fast, did an excellent job, and their price wasn’t much more than it was going to cost me to order the materials and do it myself. That was almost 20 years ago, I don’t know how they are now. https://www.brattonbros.com/

I don’t know if I’m the only one, but if I try to find a thread I started by clinking on “Content I started” under OWNERSHIP and Everything under READ STATUS; it doesn’t do anything.

It’s been happening for decades. We will always have people with mental issues. Identifying them and doing something about it before they kill someone is not popular right now. It’s more popular to blame weapons and try to ban them. It will be interesting to see if this kid exhibited violent behavior prior to this incident.

You get used to it. I wore mine every day. I was stabbed in the back during a large family fight. I didn’t even know it until I heard another Officer yelling at a guy to get on the ground as he had him at gun point. I was surprised when he said “He just stabbed you”. I had a slit in my shirt and through the vest cover, but it didn’t go through the vest. Mine was just one of many cases of our Officers being shot or stabbed that was saved by a vest. We had to buy our own and there were mostly Second Chance soft body armor under our shirt. I see Officers today wearing much heavier stuff.

Welcome. Is your website new? None of the links on the homepage work for me.

It’s not the intent of the law, but the Prosecutor offers theft (including other criminal misdemeanors, Criminal Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, Obstructing A Peace Officer, and Resisting Arrest) instead of Robbery on a plea bargain. Case close.

Okay lets do that. So? Plenty of people come from the Ghetto, go to school, college, get good jobs and are productive law abiding citizens. They don't have a victim mentality. That’s not a fact. Certainly there are Officers who may be racist (both black and white); but the system isn’t. I worked in that system; I know that. I personally know a lot of cops; most aren’t racists. Around 30,000 people are arrested everyday. There are around 700,000 911 calls a day. There are over a million full time officers, twice that number if you count part time and feds. So certainly you will be able to do your research and find bad cops. Every Police Department is different and their training is different. It’s easier to be a Police Officer than it used to be; fewer of the good guys want the job. Saying a black person isn't going to be treated the same on a traffic stop isn't fact either. Certainly a black man will be treated the same on a traffic stop. People of all races will haul drugs, drive drunk, fight cops and run from cops. Saying that cops treat blacks any different than whites is a racist statement. Especially when in many of these cases everyone involved is black from the perp, to the cop, to the Chief of Police to the Mayor. I worked mostly nights. I usually didn’t know who was in a car until I had it stopped and looked inside. When you are a criminal going to jail being a victim is a card you play; if you can. Whether it is the average citizen, HCP holder, Cop, or armed robber, if they are pointing a gun at you and telling you want to do, and you don’t do it; chances are good you will be shot. Money can help fix the problem; that’s jobs. Most people want to work instead of live off the government. I never had a situation where I needed to violate criminal’s rights to arrest them; that absolutely isn’t fact. You quoting your friend is meaningless without him explaining what it meant. We have had former cops on this very forum talk about how corrupt cops are. They rarely go into detail of specific events; although I’m sure it happens. I feel sorry for them, I came from a highly trained PD with a good reputation. I have in, my own city, sat and listened to people tells stories about being stopped by our Officers. During the story I realized it was me they were talking about (cops all look alike, they didn’t recognized me out of uniform). I’ve told them I was the cop and things didn’t go down the way they are saying. It’s embarrassing when they get caught in a lie and they usually laughed it off. I’m sure it happens all the time with internet stories that can’t be verified. I support my local Police, and thank them for their service. I have walked in their shoes and until they prove different; they get the benefit of the doubt. I have many times on here said when a cop was wrong. I make no apologies for support the Police. You are the only person on this forum that has launched a personal attack on me by calling me by name and claiming I would side with the cops before I ever even posted in the thread. Anyone that knows me or has read my posts know that is not true. Why would you do that?

I just ordered a Streamlight Pro Tac HL 5-X USB flashlight. I think I want to go with rechargeable batteries in my lights. It appears the price of 18650 batteries with the USB port in the battery is much higher in price. I don’t think I really need that option. What are good options for 18650 batteries? So far it looks like Orbtronic and Panasonic have some good options. It also appears all 18650’s are not the same; apparently the flat top vs. the button tap will make a difference in the fit in some lights? If the voltage is correct I see no reason to not get the highest amp rating I can get. Are there manufacturers that recommend lower Ah ratings? I’m also looking at chargers. Looks like it’s a toss-up between the Nitecore D4 and the Xtar VC4. I like those two because they have LED screens that show what’s going on. Any opinions on chargers? My lights that use SF123’s don’t dim; they just do dead. Will the 18650 do the same?

We can’t have honest open discussions about race. If you start quoting facts you are just labeled a racist and the conversation is over. I was a Police Officer in Illinois (not Chicago) in the 70’s/80’s. Our Chief made the statement publically that 30% on the population was responsible for 70% of the crime. They tried to crucify him for that statement, but it didn’t work. I believe that money can fix most things, and that most people would rather have jobs than be criminals. Income and jobs has more to do with crime than race. My most violent encounters and response to the most violent crimes was drunk white men. We (the Police) weren’t shooting and killing blacks; they were doing that to each other. It does not appear to me that has changed.
