This is terrible for all involved. This is a case where intelligent discussion can be had about the public perceptions of the Police. I’m not one to jump to conclusions about anyone’s shootings, cops or not, until we know the facts. We don’t have the facts and probably won’t for a very long time. That’s the first problem. Dallas PD quickly backed off this saying it was not an Officer involved shooting. They handed it off to the Texas Rangers. So that means this was a citizen who is legally allowed to carry a gun, exactly the same as an HCP holder, that just shot and killed a homeowner in his own home. If this was an HCP holder the PD would likely be releasing what happened. I don’t know what the procedure is in Texas, but where I was if a person just killed another person; they would be detained and taken in for interview. If they invoked Miranda and there was probable cause for an arrest; they would be arrested and incarcerated until they could go before a Judge. That is not what happened here; it appears they are treating her as if she was in an Officer involved shooting. That absolutely would be treated differently. There have been several shootings that I can recall reading about where someone entered the wrong house thinking it is theirs. Usually the intruder is the one that gets shot and usually the intruder is drunk. Was she drunk? We have no idea, but blood was drawn. They keep saying she had finished her shift and was returning home. I haven’t seen anywhere that says how long it was from the time she got off to the time of the shooting. Apparently she was in uniform? (I thought I read that somewhere) Did something happen that justified the use of deadly force? We have no idea. Is that what she is saying? Well, we have no idea what she is saying; if anything. If she is saying that it should be made public. The race accusations are already cranking up. Is there someone saying something that would make us think race played a part in this? Three days for the DA to file charges. That’s reasonable and it shows they have investigated enough to make a case. It a Police shooting or it’s not. It obviously isn’t so information should be released to try to calm the city.

Levi Strauss Joins In Anti-Gun Nonsense
DaveTN replied to RodMyers's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
By 2003 Levi had shut down all U.S. manufacturing. They don’t have enough skin in the game for anyone to care what their opinion is. Or for them to give us speeches about what goes on in America. We are going to have a hard time showing an increase in the economy under Trump if these companies keep committing suicide. -
Looks like the sharks are circling already. Watch Matt Morgan try to justify what he is doing. And telling us what we want. I hope the businesses have the resources to fight this dirt bag.

NPR confirms reported number of school shootings was false
DaveTN replied to Erik88's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Data collection depends on what the person is trying to show. I don’t know how many times I have seen things compared where the way the data was corrected was sketchy at best and many times outright lying. You would think it would be very easy to get very specific data on school shootings. The FBI or the CDC should publish that information…. I don’t know that they don’t. It boils down to the family unit, Doctors, Teachers, Friends, and Law Enforcement. I’m not sure any of that data will be instrumental in fixing the problem. -
That is correct. Unless it’s a court order it isn’t in a searchable database that would show up in a background check. Those wanting the background checks to show that don’t seem to understand all their problems will be there also. When they figure that out; they won’t want that.

According to the media he bought the guns legally.

Dang man, killing yourself and others because you lost a game??? That guy had to have serious mental issues. Family, friends and co-workers couldn’t tell he needed help? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/08/27/fbi-swarms-family-home-jacksonville-landing-gunman-david-katz.html

RIF The question was about shipping a handgun. But thanks for letting us know we don’t know what we are talking about. However…we are always willing to learn. This is all new to most of us. Your expertise on the law and your first hand experiences should help us all. Really?

The story says it’s almost as good as a .308 Winchester.

Does Tennessee need a Soccer team and new stadium??
DaveTN replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
I thought Soccer was being played at the Sounds stadium? We are in the South and couldn’t fill a Superspeedway or have the people that could get a NASCAR Cup race. It sits idle. So no, a new soccer stadium is not a good idea. -
I watched all 8 episodes of this. They are very interesting and should especially be viewed by first responders and medical personnel. They show problems of preparedness for these events. Like the inability of Officers being able to communicate with responders from different agencies, and hospitals not being alerted to the amount of incoming and the inability to quickly put out a call for additional Doctors and Nurses. These stories are told by the first responders, victims, victims’ families, and Police and Medical administrators. There is very little anti-gun rhetoric; I don’t remember it being discussed much at all except by one victim’s Father in the Columbine episode. A lot more is known now about some of these shootings than was known at the time. You come away understanding more about some of the problems other than some nut case decided to start killing people. Like with the Navy Yard shooting. Both the family and the contract employer knew the severe mental problems Aaron Alexis had. He had no business being in there; but no one addressed the issues. Or the problem of getting the wounded to the hospital in the Aurora theater shooting. The shooter was in custody almost immediately upon arrival of the Police, but the ambulances couldn’t get to the back of the theater where the wounded were being brought. Cops started hauling victims out in their patrol cars to hospitals that weren’t informed of what they were facing. These are well prepared documentaries; worth the watch.

I don’t know which incident you are referring to, but you will always have uproar from some group. Last month Chicago PD quickly released a video showing Officers shooting a man that was clearly trying to pull a gun. Riots still erupted. You don’t need wrong doing for a riot; you just need people that want a new big screen TV.

If I click on the “Ownership Tab” and pick “Content I started” or “Read status” and pick “everything”; nothing happens. It does this with both Chrome and Edge in Windows 10. Anyone experiencing this or is it a problem on my end?

Yep. But I hesitated in saying that before because a cop could have done it and been justified; a citizens always runs the risk of being charged. (Hence my support of fleeing forcible felons laws of the past) that and the fact that he said he knew the gun wasn’t loaded. (I’m still trying to figure out what kind of semi-auto makes a different sound when there is no round in the chamber and you pull the hammer back.)

I don’t doubt it; I just laughed out loud when I read that. I edit my music using MP3TAG and the GENRE list is so long to scroll though it is usually just faster for me to type that field in. When I was doing it, it reminded me of ammunition; everyone wants their name on something even if it’s already out there. So I had to look… but YACHT ROCK isn’t there; maybe next version.

My bead blast cabinet came with a light that was a joke. I put a florescent light in there (about 24”), it just went out. It was better but still if I have a large part in there the light is blocked. I’m wondering if I can put some (preferably adhesive backed) high output LED strips that I can wire in with 120 volt. All four sides of the top would give me light everywhere. ??

I’ve never seen anyone ticketed after their car was stolen, for unattended motor vehicle. I’ve never seen it done for people warming their cars up in their driveways (We couldn’t have written that on private property if we want to). I have seen it done when people parked their car unlocked, left it running and went into a store. So you think leaving your car running unlocked with the keys in it is in any way shape or form the same as forgetting to lock your vehicle in a parking lot, or a cop bailing out of his car in a pursuit? Do you think there should be a law allowing for the arrest of citizens that have guns stolen from their cars?
