Then why did they have Foster children? Foster children that apparently they now think were sexually assaulted. I hear all the time about how hard it is for people here to adopt; so they go out of our country. So it will be interesting to hear how Foster Children were placed somewhere with a history of Police calls.

The news is reporting it was 74 year old disbarred lawyer and that 3 deputies went there on a search warrant for a 27 year old accused of sexual assault of a child in the home. The shooter opened fire as they approached. Looks like having a MRAP allowed them to get the fallen Officers out and may have saved some lives.

Fugitive in Montgomery County
DaveTN replied to Wheelgunner's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Any orders to shoot on sight, implying no interaction, are silly. However, it is clear that if this man gets away there is an immediate danger of death or great bodily harm to the public. So if they see him and he doesn’t follow orders; they will probably shoot him...I would. That may have been discussed. I’m kinda curious as to why they think he is still in the area. -
Another vote for the Shield. You were probably shooting the mighty .40S&W. They make it in a tamed down 9MM version. Most of the women like it; not so much recoil.

Lots of guns being stolen in Tennessee. I wonder how long it will be before we can check serial numbers online? I bet that photo is better than whats shown. If so, coupled with a $5K reward; those guys are caught.

Guns that aren’t being made anymore and are in limited supply are holding their value. Guns in current production are readily available new at reasonable prices.

If someone has a gun pointed at you or someone else, whether it is a Police Officer, criminal, or Citizen, you have a decision to make; do what they are telling you to do or take some action. As a Police Officer this question always came up with store employees asking what to do during an armed robbery. I always told them; give them whatever they want. The chances are better they will take it and run than they will shoot you. If you resist the chances are better you or someone else will get shot. If you decide to resist you have to ask yourself, can I draw my weapon and make him unable or unwilling to fire his weapon before he shoots me or someone else? In your case you have a .380. That’s a terrible self-defense round and will not stop someone unless you make a shot that turns them off like a switch. (Not that a .45 or .357mag would be any better in that situation) The chances of you being able to do that in the most adrenaline charged situation you probably have ever been in in your life are slim. Your wife will probably get shot. Drawing a weapon while someone already has theirs pointed at you isn’t smart. Shooting them and them falling back and dropping is TV nonsense. You should think out all kinds of scenarios in your head and what you would do. Then if they happen to you in real life you have a better chance. Also, don’t think because someone is a criminal thug they don’t know how to use a gun. They may be better trained than you. There is no correct answer for the scenario you present here. The choices are do what he says, don’t do anything and see if he shoots your wife, shoot him while he has a gun pointed at your wife. None of those are good choices, but unless he’s going to kill you anyway; one has the best possibility of leaving you and your wife alive with a good story to tell. As far as talking to the Police let me add this from someone that has been the detail Officer on shootings. If you are going to invoke the 5th; have an attorney that you can call right then, anytime of the day or night and get someone. If it’s a good shoot any good criminal defense attorney is going to want to cooperate with the investigators at the scene to keep it from turning into something that it doesn’t need to be. I don’t know how Tennessee law or local Police procedures is, but where I was once we read someone their rights and they invoked; we were done talking….about anything.

There is nothing that assumes anything as a “significant threat” that justifies the use of deadly force (Short of being shot at, and some have even questioned that). Each and every incident is different and has to be articulated by the shooter, whether it be a cop or private citizen. Glen Funk has stated that he will try this case without presenting it to a Grand Jury to be transparent. Now in my opinion that’s not about transparency, if he had a case he could get an indictment. It appears to me he doesn’t think he can get an indictment; so he’ll skip it. He and the Mayor want to pacify the protesters instead of doing their job. But that’s just my opinion based on the news stories.

I can’t tell much from the video so I’ll rely on the media reports. The suspect made the choice to run. He made the choice to have a gun in his hand. It is reasonable that any person, Police Officer, or citizen, pursuing an armed person that is not dropping the weapon; intends on using it. As soon as he gets to a position of cover it’s reasonable to believe he will engage the person chasing him. When I was a cop we shot fleeing forcible felons. Home Invaders, Burglars, Rapists, Armed Robbers are absolutely a danger to the public. The fact that they can out run a cop shouldn’t mean they get to have more victims. Tennessee V. Garner stopped that and its needs to be overturned. We have seen too many cases where there was a public outcry because a Police Officer or armed citizen shot a career criminal because they believed that criminal was threatening their life. If you want to handcuff the cops; go ahead. You will have the same situation you now have in Chicago. Also you as an HCP holder will he held to the same standards. If you shoot an armed robber as he is turning to run; you will be charged. That’s wrong. So be careful; be very careful. Criminals that have guns in their hands and are not following the orders of the Police; will get shot. I have no idea why they decided to charge this Officer so I must assume its politics. (I'll wait to hear why) That’s what happened in Chicago. I don’t think most of us want that here. I’ll also echo the concerns of others; why wasn’t this criminal in jail? It kind of looks like if the DA or Judges had done their job this career criminal would be alive in prison, and a cop wouldn’t be headed to trial.

I’m a terrible speller, so I put everything into WORD and have it spell check for me. However, I can mess it up so bad that WORD can’t even come up with a suggestion. However…. I can copy and paste my spelling into GOOGLE and GOOGLE will come up with “Do you mean XXXXX?” And Google is always right. It knows exactly what I am trying to say. Does that make me a snowflake?

Well…. It clearly is (or should be) a Federal crime. So the FBI would be the appropriate folks to investigate it.

He was sent on his way to prison today.

TN laws regarding shooting distance from roads?
DaveTN replied to 13brv3's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That’s why I thought you should read it and be aware of it. As I read it; it applies to both individual ranges and public ranges that aren’t violating local ordinances, codes or laws; with the exception of d. Of course it would all depend on how and why it became an issue. Having a talk with a Command Officer from the agency that would respond to a call there can’t hurt. They probably won’t address codes, but they should be able to tell you what would happen with a noise complaint or shooting/safety/ complaint. -

Read Tenn. Code Ann. § 39-17-316 -
That's not how I read it. But of course she is going to be fired. Unless she is claiming she was justified.

I have a question about being denied a purchase.
DaveTN replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Because as I said, the TBI was worthless. The ATF told me why I was being denied and how to fix it. I did what they said and it worked. Mine was because I didn’t have a disposition on the charges with the FEDS. My charges were dismissed. But none of that matters. If you have an arrest, even if charges weren’t filed, they were dismissed or even expunged; the arrest is still there. If it doesn’t have a disposition attached to it; the TBI will refuse you. Now, if you have never been arrested, this doesn’t apply to you. If you have a C&R the FEDS did a background on you and it was good. So you may have to go to the TBI to try to find out what is going on. -
1965 was 108087, 1969 was 135464. The Diamond insert grip was deleted in 1968 and the M serial prefix started in 69. So if those are the original grips I would say its 68/69. If they aren’t the original grips it could be earlier, but between 65/69.

Are you sure? She “came out” in 2016. Wouldn’t her friends be calling her “He” if that was the case?

yes she is.

I don’t see where he changed his mind. He’s just apologizing for letting his emotions get the best of him and attacking Rubio instead of having a discussion. Good for him. I wouldn’t argue with this kid. If he was there he suffered what could be a life changing traumatic event. I won’t change his mind and he won’t change mine. We all (most of us anyway) want a way to keep guns out of the hands of people with mental or violence issues. I’ve not heard any plans to do that, that don’t restrict the rights of those that don’t have issues; other than what we already have.

"A release from District Attorney General Russell Johnson says authorities had received at least five previous calls from the home for domestic violence, although none resulted in criminal charges." That's surprising in this day and age. Usually a domestic violence call ends in an arrest.

A big win for Defense Distributed!
DaveTN replied to gregintenn's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Hiding out in Taiwan (if that is what he is doing) won’t end well for him. He should talk to an attorney and plan his surrender before he gets into something that is going to cause him far more jail time and costs than what he is looking at now. Unless he has a record he probably wouldn’t do time under these circumstances if he turns himself in. -

Well…. He probably shouldn’t be on a site like that. Especially if he thinks he is a “big deal” and is dealing with people that will obviously do anything for money. If the bartender serves them based on how old they think they look, and are wrong; they get arrested. If you are having sex with them, paid or not, and they are juveniles; you get arrested and get to be a registered sex offender the rest of your life. That’s incentive enough for most people to not do it. Didn’t Cody ever watch “To Catch a Predator”?
