My Silverado factory warranty is up soon and I didn’t buy an extended warranty when I bought it. I’m thinking about getting one and will go talk to the local Chevrolet dealer. Before doing that I would like some information on rates and reliable companies. Anyone have any suggestions?

Liberty and Mental Health are problems. I dealt with it first hand as a Police Officer. Our state had no way to hold a person that had not committed a crime. We could try to talk them into voluntary commitment and in some cases where they had committed a minor offense we could give them the choice of voluntary commitment or being arrested. But if we arrested them the County jail wanted them out as soon as possible because they didn’t want the responsibility or the cost of a mental case. I don’t think you can stop people from taking out a gun and killing people anywhere. The best you can hope for is someone has the ability and the desire to stop the attack. Mental health people can’t see into the future. The shooter is the sole person responsible; no one else.

They need someone or something to blame other than the shooter; because he is dead. Military, LEO or HCP holder allows them to tie the cause to guns or PTSD.

Oh no doubt. I suspect that nothing will get done. I don’t see them passing anything Trump agrees with; no matter what it is. I don’t see how they will even get a budget through. Things are different than they were before.

Either I or “House Democrats” don’t fully understand how this whole legislation thing coupled with math works.

Exactly. The amount of time it takes for the second shooter to arrive impacts the body count. In this case the Police probably saved a lot of lives. But not fast enough for many others. They obviously pulled the fire from the crowd to them. Laws don’t work. Unfortunately I don’t think we are far from businesses having a designated lethal force person on the premises, separate from any other security. A well-known law firm is suing the businesses in the Jacksonville, FL gaming shooting. It will be interesting to see what happens there.

I wondered what happened to that car! I came out from my weekly meeting of the Democratic Fundraiser Society and it was gone.

Sheriff just held a press conference. (He retires at midnight tonight) Shooter purchased the Glock 21 legally. Apparently shooter had interaction with cops in April. There were questions about his mental state, but apparently it was decided there wasn’t enough to put a mental hold on him. They are saying he used an “Extended Magazine” but that may have just been the standard 13 round mag. I think CA has a 10 round limit.

Shooting in a bar. They say he used one handgun reloaded once. Shooter is dead. https://www.foxnews.com/us/massive-police-response-after-reports-of-shooting-at-california-nightclub

"Good morning, Mr. Meredith," "It's 9 below zero. Have a nice day." That was 1967 also.

Well, I got mine yesterday. Only took a little over 5 months.

Here is a link to the TEXT. https://www.sos.wa.gov/_assets/elections/initiatives/finaltext_1531.pdf It won’t apply if the gun is stolen by someone unlawfully entering. The five day reporting thing would never hold up in court and does require knowledge. Checking your guns in a safe every five days is not reasonable. They might argue that it is reasonable to check guns left in the open every five days. All of this will have to be tested in the court, unfortunately by a citizen bearing the cost of that, but I doubt the courts will uphold a citizen being responsible for the theft of a gun from their house or vehicle. I’m sure SCOTUS won’t. I also doubt there will be many cases where a gun is stolen and it isn’t reported for 5 days.

Help me out here…other than teachers doing parents jobs; what are we getting upset about? As I read that story MDA is going to talk to the parents; not the kids. Based on what I see on their website, they are going to hammer on the parents more about who to vote for than gun safety. Some of you should go and let us know what they say. I’ll add this, of the six shootings in Tennessee that the Safe Tennessee Project have posted on their website, all but one were people over 17 handling the gun, in one case the person was 10. Leaving an unattended firearm in a vehicle with a 10 year old that killed his 9 year old sister is a problem. I’m not sure that a parent that would do this would go to any of these meetings. Do adults really need to be told not to leave a loaded gun unattended in their car with their young children, even if those kids have been trained about firearms? My experience as a former cop showed me that there are parents that do not care about their kids, even a little bit, and some don’t even pretend to. Kids of parents that do pay attention to what is going on in their kids’ lives and have discussion about what they are taught in school will probably be unaffected by some of the nonsense they are being taught. Firearm safety needs to be taught at home. But unfortunately for many kids that won’t happen and the only information they get will be at school.

From what I see this won’t be about weapons. According to what I see this will be about how ER’s, First Responders, and private citizens are being trained in combat first-aid because of the devastating wounds similar to those found on the battlefield that the AR-15 causes.

Wow…the amount of hate it must take to beat two old folks to death. Unbelievable

That’s a good resource as it has links to the state laws, so you can read it yourself.

True, but the ATF never gets their ass handed to them. They take their arrests to court and win, lose or draw; they go home at the end of the day having lost nothing. They leave victims in bankruptcy or jail in their wake. Sorry, but I contend that the ATF does not have, or should not have, the authority to okay things like braces and bumpstocks that are clear violations of the law. If short barreled rifles with or without stocks are legal; then do away with the law outlawing them. If devices that make a rifle fully automatic are okay; then do away with the ban on full auto weapons. Anything else is inviting people that believe what the BATF says to head for prison or bankruptcy.
-
The SCOTUS decision doesn’t mean they get off if they don’t know the law. It just means the government needs to prove they knew the weapon had the characteristics that brought it within the statutory definition of a machinegun. Like the guy that loaned his AR that would fire full auto. He told the guy it loaned it to it would fire full auto; he went to prison.
-
Maybe, but it could give some a false sense of security. Best I can tell that jury decision has zero impact on anyone except that defendant.
-
They don’t try to enforce it; it’s voluntary.

Looks like it’s up to the store, some are “VETERAN PARKING ONLY Thank you for your service”, some are “RESERVED COMBAT WOUNDED”.

Cool stuff. Watch his video about riding a bike.
