  1. I have only been in one Field & Stream, but I don’t think I have been in a sporting goods store with more gun & ammo inventory than it had. It’s a shame they are considering destroying it over the politics. I’m surprised the board and investors is letting them get away with this. Isn’t your hatred of guns and gun owners something you would have taken into consideration before starting this business? My WAG is that some big shots in the company will be axed; and the business will get back on track… if it isn’t too late.
  2. Now that’s a good idea! New Jersey sends their criminals to New York. That’s one way to lower taxes.
  3. I think its terrible that anyone would even want to make a criminal out of a victim of an auto burglary. If there is a gun in my vehicle; my vehicle is locked. That should be all any law requires. Illinois doesn’t require anything other than the gun being out of sight in a locked vehicle if you have a carry permit. Is there some state that requires something more than locking the vehicle where we can legally have a gun in the vehicle on our Tennessee HCP?
  4. Any J-frame Smith & Wesson or Ruger SP101will fit the bill of a small revolver. They are both high quality and proven performers. But they are light and will have heavy recoil. If you could find a used K-frame Smith & Wesson like the 10,15,19,66; that would be the ticket. They are making the Model 66 again. Ruger makes the SP101 in 9mm now; that would help. There are plenty of options in quality revolvers, but as Whisper said, they all are pricey. In the K or L frame S&W revolvers you are looking at around ~500 used to ~700 new. J frames are less, but I doubt she would be happy with that small of a revolver shooting a good defensive round. Take her to a gun store and let her handle a 4” 686. If she likes the feel of that; home defense revolvers just don’t get any better. Most gun stores will have it in stock. Do some research to familiarize yourself with “J-frame”, “K-frame”, “L-frame”. If you or her need to fire a weapon at another human being; whether you survive could depend on that weapon operating properly. I have a bunch of different handguns I carry depending on the application; mostly semi-auto. But the gun on my headboard doesn’t change; it’s a S&W 686 .357 mag 4” revolver.
  5. I think it depends on what the felony was. If it involved violence or drugs he may be out of luck. A few years ago a guy from (Alabama?) sued because he got a pardon from the Governor of that state and couldn’t buy a gun in Tennessee. Expungements don’t “purge” everything and TBI may be a problem if anything shows up.
  6. Tennessee is in compliance. I do see that your first “Real ID” requires you to get it in person; that rules out the Kiosk. Thanks for bringing this up; after Oct 2020 you can’t board an aircraft without this “Enhanced” ID. That’s sure good to know.
  7. Whether or not I know you means nothing. I have been on this forum since it started, but that doesn’t mean I know where that gun is going once it goes to a forum member. If the cops knock on my door and say “We traced this gun used in a crime to Bob. Bob says he sold it to you.” I tell them I sold it to aus174; and they move on to you. If you want to tell them you don’t know who bought it from you….so be it. If the gun was in the hands of a convicted felon, minor, or out of state residence, I have done everything I can do to make the sale legal. I have no way to do a background check, but I can check state of residence and age. If they ask me if I have any proof I checked ID, I present a BOS you signed stating you are legally allowed to purchase a gun in this state. Short of not selling guns; that’s about all I can do. How does a bill of sale help me? Well, in your example of someone being arrested because they sold a stolen firearm with a BOS, if the gun is traced to me and I give the Police all the information they require to continue the investigation; they likely won’t charge me. If I tell them I don’t remember who I sold it to and I’m not required to have that information the outcome may be different. However, we all run the risk of having a stolen firearm pass though our hands. You may know the guy you are getting it from but that doesn’t mean the people prior to him were honest people. However, there are plenty of guns for sale that don’t require a BOS. Those of us that do require one, do so knowing there may be people that won’t want to do that; and that’s fine also.
  8. We have had this discussion a few times. Bottom line is everyone has to do what they are ready to take responsibility for. I require a BOS and I state that clearly in my ads. It’s illegal for me to sell a gun to an out of state resident or a minor. You can argue that point all you want, but I’m not going to argue it in court paying attorney fees. I have a BOS that requires nothing but your name, phone number and signature. I don’t even ask for your address on it. But I do require you show me a valid TN ID (DL or HCP, your choice). I don’t need to take a picture of it. Also because I have a C&R if I’m selling a C&R item more information is required, but that’s also clearly stated in the ad. As long as the ad’s are clear there should never be any drama.
  9. You have to agree with a company’s politics? Don’t some of you guys buy commie made guns?
  10. I have to renew my HCP & DL. I have to go in because they are requiring a new picture. I thought I’d be able to save time and use one of the Kiosks (I can for my DL), but my HCP renewal letter says I have to go in and submit an application. I don't remember submitting an application when I renewed online and I don't see it available for download so I can fill it out before I get there. I thought I saw somewhere that they would be combining the two into one card, but I don’t see anything on their web site about it?
  11. Murfreesboro is 136K. It has most everything you need, but you are about 30 minutes from Nashville if you need to go to a large city. The drawback is the traffic control hasn’t kept up with the growth of the city and is years behind. Shelbyville is 21K its horse county, so they have all ranges of property from low cost to multi-million dollar estates. 20 minutes to Murfreesboro and less than an hour to Nashville.
  12. Do you have to have a stock? If not, why not use that lower for something else and build an AR Pistol? They are cheap now, and you don’t have to mess with tax stamps.
  13. 34" with an adjustable height seat.
  14. That’s a tough one. I don’t see a DA wanting to give affirmation in a case when they don’t need to; or its questionable. Without a criminal case; it seems the civil hearing would be the vehicle to make that determination. Do you have language you think will work? The problem is there is never any responsibility or liability for the attorney that brings the case. If the person that brings the case has nothing, then you can get all the judgements you want but you aren’t getting the fees you paid to your attorney back.
  15. My guess would be on a case by case basis. They will make examples out of a few people that bypass the background check. It won’t stop those that can’t pass a background check if they can find a seller that will sell to them. It doesn’t have to work or even stop anyone from buying. It’s just so they can claim they are doing something. Just remember what AOC says "So people are like, 'Oh it's unrealistic. Oh it's vague. Oh it doesn't address this little minute thing,'" she added. "And I'm like, 'You try. You do it. Cuz you're not. Cuz you're not. So, until you do it, I'm the boss.' How about that?'"
  16. So they think 20 days would have made a difference?
  17. Yes. ESTIMATE SHIPPING AND TAX Shipping on a 6” 686 is $26. In case someone wants to buy it for me.
  18. Ammo is not going to be an issue in a criminal case if it is a justified self-defense shooting. It could be in a civil case. Everything could be a factor in a civil case. Why are you in civil court is more of an issue. There is no shortage of off the shelf brands in proven self-defense calibers.
  19. I use red dots on target guns; but not carry guns. If a person is far enough away you need a sight; you probably shouldn’t be taking the shot in a parking lot with people around. I can assure you your effective range will be greatly diminished when you have an adrenalin rush pumping; especially if you are being shot at. It may not impact you but having experienced it; I smile when I see the “shot placement” comments. Shot placement is a given; knowing how you will perform under that kind of pressure is not. Handguns have their limitations; I wouldn’t add the possible problems of a red dot sight into the mix. That’s just my opinion.
  20. Oak Ridge is like #3 on the list.
  21. Fill me in on how you think a war with Russia would have an end without using nukes?? What do you think will happen when either side takes out a Carrier Group?? ~7,000 lives lost in a flash.
  22. I needed one right away, so I picked this one up at Advance Auto Parts. It would read the code and clear it; that’s all I needed it to do. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/actron-pocket-scan-code-reader-cp9125-c/9020005-P?searchTerm=Actron+Pocket+Scan+Code+Reader Or you can order it off Amazon for $40.
  23. I can’t see any war scenario that would end with peace. Hundreds of thousands if not millions dead. Infrastructure destroyed, economy destroyed, starvation, disease. I don’t want that for my kids or Grandkids. Do you think at the end of that war you would have only one country that wants to lead the world? Because if there are two; you still have a problem. Unless you mean an end to active conflict by going into the afterlife. That would happen.
