The story I looked at said it weighs about 2 OZ less than a shield. So without me going and looking up the numbers…if its all metal it must be smaller than a Shield?? Of course it would certainly be smaller than 2 Shields; or one full size target Kimber, which would be about the same price point. Just kiddin’. I love Kimber quality, wish I could justify that Kimber K6S DASA.

Cheap flashlights that use a single 18650 battery?

Yes, thanks. I found them the other day when I was looking around. -
Cheap flashlights that use a single 18650 battery?

I mean the light level. My Fenix PD35 is on/off with the tailcap switch and has a button on the side with memory for light levels. My Streamlight Protac HL 5-X is a very good well made light. But the more I use it the more I wish I had bought something else. it does everything with one button; and it sucks. Its not user friendly at all and I’ll never buy another set-up like that. -
Whether its right or wrong; she may have said it. I thought the movie was good although I have no idea how accurate it was. I could kill a person that was a threat and go have lunch. However, because of my beliefs I could never have any part in an execution of a person that was in custody. “Carrying out your duty” doesn’t absolve you from responsibility for your actions.

Anyone have a Remington 11-87 Premier? I can’t tell if the blue is polished from the pictures, but it looks good. And GB is littered with them for under $500. (I've only owned 1100's never an 11-87)

I have two Surefire that use SF123’s. But I’m tired of buying them by the box. I really like my E2E incandescent, but my understanding is rechargeables aren’t compatible with it and the cost to convert it to LED is more than I paid for it, or even more than another light. -

Thanks for that info. Is this the Convoy you have? https://www.amazon.com/Flashlight-Portable-Handheld-Waterproof-Camping/dp/B07B2RP6BW/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=convoy+flashlight&qid=1556459953&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1 I don’t really care about a super high output; my PROTAC HL 5-X @ 3500 lumens will light up a city block. I just need multiples of something in the house. It has to use one 18650 and I would like a tail cap switch with a separate mode switch. It seems anytime my dog thinks one of his toys is under the furniture; my flashlights are all in other rooms. -
I wasn’t sure what was going on or what started all this, so I did some checking. This apparently is the article from the New Yorker that started bringing all this out to the public. I have no idea how accurate it is; but its an interesting read. It’s long and detailed. https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/secrecy-self-dealing-and-greed-at-the-nra Another interesting article from AmmoLand https://www.ammoland.com/2019/04/nras-dirty-laundry-exposed-as-pro-gun-group-cleans-house/#axzz5mKZI7oYC

39-17-1309 is the law. Since it requires “Intent to go armed” some would argue you may/may not fall into that category. Unfortunately you may have to make that argument in court. If someone on the staff commented on it; don't do it. https://advance.lexis.com/documentpage/?pdmfid=1000516&crid=29cdc632-475d-4e00-a924-1486c59a397e&nodeid=ABNAAOAANAAJ&nodepath=%2FROOT%2FABN%2FABNAAO%2FABNAAOAAN%2FABNAAOAANAAJ&level=4&haschildren=&populated=false&title=39-17-1309.+Carrying+weapons+on+school+property.&config=025054JABlOTJjNmIyNi0wYjI0LTRjZGEtYWE5ZC0zNGFhOWNhMjFlNDgKAFBvZENhdGFsb2cDFQ14bX2GfyBTaI9WcPX5&pddocfullpath=%2Fshared%2Fdocument%2Fstatutes-legislation%2Furn%3AcontentItem%3A50J2-V4S0-R03M-D4G5-00008-00&ecomp=k3d8kkk&prid=72c9153e-f6c6-485e-b015-f6830b8654fb

Here are my opinions for what they are worth… A Governor is more powerful within their own state than the President. Other than us having to help foot the bill for NY, they have little impact on what goes on here. This is not something new. The NRA is suing New York. But more than just the state of New York is trying to force banks to not only shun the NRA, but to shun gun manufacturers as well. The threats Como has made to the NRA; he may well have the right to make. We will find out who is more powerful in business; the NRA or the state of New York. The NRA and gun groups make threats all the time. I can’t count the number of times I have seen gun owners call for the boycott of a business because they didn’t like something a business did. If either side is going to be making threats; they better have the horsepower to back them up. As you can see in this thread many gun owners are not happy with the NRA. That’s an obvious problem. For full disclosure; I’m not an NRA member. But with me its purely personal. The NRA turned their back on me when I was arrested for having a gun in my car in Illinois. I needed their help and they told me they don’t get involved in criminal arrests. That made no sense to me and makes no sense to me today. Changes come from decisions in criminal cases. If gun owners as a group, and the NRA are as powerful as some of you believe; then gun owners need to find financial institutions that will finance the gun industry. It’s that simple. If you think the NRA is doing a good job; pay them. The NRA has revenues somewhere north of $400 million a year. Yet the NRA says they are operating in the red. More than half of that comes from gun manufacturers. They just add that on to the cost of a gun; so all of us that buy new guns are helping to support them. No matter how much money the NRA has; they can’t “buy” gun laws. I’m sure they can buy a few politicians here and there, but most politicians are going to vote the way their constituents want. Most voters want guns keep out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill. Sorry, that’s just how it is and no amount of money will change that. I feel a little bit sorry for the NRA on the bump stock ban. That big dog should have stayed on the porch with that fiasco. That was a screwup by the ATF. If they wanted to hurt the NRA; they couldn’t have planned it any better. And some gun owners fell right in line to blame the NRA. If you disagree, and think money buys legislation get your check books out today and fire off a big check to your favorite pro gun group. I’ve been looking at a couple but haven’t decided yet.

Cheap flashlights that use a single 18650 battery?

I already have a PROTAC HL 5-X, FENIX PD35, & SureFire E2E. I have a Nitecore D4 charger and a bunch of 18650 batteries. I’m looking for cheap options for lights to lay around the house; not EDC. It looks like Convoy & Sofirn have some options. Anyone have those that are a single 18650? -
Steve Dickerson (R-Nashville) to Introduce Red Flag Bill
DaveTN replied to Garufa's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I’ve said for 40 years; if you want to stop illegals drugs, you don’t start at the bottom and work your way up; you start at the top and work your way down. It is harder work and requires Officers that fear nothing; I do not believe for one second that the majority of deaths are overdoses from legal prescription drugs. But if they acknowledge where they are coming from; they would have to do something about it. No one wants to do the hard work. Just like these Red Flag laws. When someone threatens someone with violence; put them in prison. But of course that requires everyone to properly do their job, and would require much larger prisons. -

None of us would get by with what they are accused of without criminal charges being filed. -
With DPS still carrying guns they know have issues; it sounds like DPS and FN both could potentially have a big problem if something happens. lawyers will eat this up. However, neither of the shootings of Officers they talk about in the story appear to have anything to do with a weapon problem. In one keys on the side of a bag got caught in the trigger guard and pulled the trigger. Why in the world would anyone choose a holster for a striker fired weapon that doesn’t cover the trigger area? That’s crazy. And the other story is someone taking apart a loaded gun; that’s crazy also. As we have seen, any gun can have problems, its how the manufacturer responds that matters.

Sorry if you feel that way; my comment wasn’t aimed at anyone here. I was thinking about when AOC and the rest of the clueless whiners thought the $3 billion in taxes breaks for NY and VA should go to the restoration of neighborhoods. They thought there was $3 billion somewhere. Now there is none. I’m sure you thought it was interesting that local leaders would care about the community enough to make that deal.
-
Its good to see city/county/state leaders that want to entice business to their area. They can’t give away what they don’t have; and they don’t have those taxes now and won’t have them if business doesn’t come in. If they give them loans they don't have to pay back; so be it. What they will have is local residents making over $25 million (at least) a year, to do with what they please. Good for them. Not to mention we will have more guns made in the area.

I agree with you that there has to be consequences for false reporting. But there already are. Filing a false Police report in many places is a felony. I don’t know if it is in Tennessee or not. The problem is that any law like that requires intent. Charging people that make the call won’t fly, our system of getting people to report crimes or potential crimes isn’t set-up that way; and shouldn’t be. A law saying a court simply deciding that the person isn’t a danger and then charging the reporting party would never hold up in court on appeal. False reporting with intent is most likely going to come from family members in a divorce or domestic violence situation. I have responded to those type situations and the cop on the street isn’t going to make a call that there is no danger. (Our discretion was taken away in the 80’s.) In this day and age they are either going to make an arrest or start mental health commitment proceedings. I had zero tolerance for those threatening violence, with or without a weapon. They went to jail. If it’s a wife or family member making a false claims; that’s a situation that was created over time by willing participants. I couldn’t fix their problems they created in the short time I was there. Adults need to handle their own family problems. If they can’t and the Police are called; the Police will likely handle it for them. Cops aren’t social workers or ministers. They are law enforcement Officers and except in the most obvious mental health cases the likely outcome will be jail. Then if you have the money you can get attorneys and mental health professionals involved. Remember… you will get exactly as much justice as you can afford. Luke, keep in mind here that I am not saying I support any of these specific bills. And I was not a cop in this state and don’t have first hand knowledge of how these calls are handled here. I am saying that those that see this as a violation of 2nd amendment rights or due process; need to do their research. I doubt very much that you have due process now. -
Hard to say. I went to a CMM class in Nashville with a lady from their plant in Maryland. She said it was a great place to work. But she was worried because there was talk of moving her job to Tennessee, and she wouldn’t be able to move because of her husbands job. I was getting a lot of calls from Head Hunters when they were hiring, but I didn’t pursue them because I didn’t want to drive to Gallatin and couldn’t move; so I have no idea how their pay was. I just figured for a company (private or otherwise) to be in business for over 500 years and be near the top of the heap; they have to be doing something right.

I haven’t seen much about what Beretta is doing at Gallatin lately. What Beretta firearms are available that are made in, and marked, Gallatin?

I kinda get the feeling that some of you guys feel that if you had the need to use a shotgun as a home defense weapon it must be black and tactical. I on the other hand think the bad guy should have the opportunity of being taken down by a gun that is every bit as purdy as it is functional. Plus, if he is taken off to the hospital or jail I wouldn’t want him describing the gun he was looking at as “ugly”. That just wouldn’t be right for either of us.
-
Exactly, and therein lies the catch. I have no doubt I could get a better price on my insurance. But at what cost? If I have trouble getting a claim settled, or if they don’t fully back me in an accident that was my fault; it may be more expensive.
-
No, I would guess they don’t sell a lot of them. I would need to see any $3K 1911 out shoot a standard ~$1K 1911 from any of the big boys. Don’t get me wrong I’m all about a gun looking good as well as being accurate. But most of them don’t look any better or even as good as a S&W, Kimber, Springfield, Etc. I’d rather have one quality 1911 and a couple of other guns, than one with someone’s name on the side of it that use to build custom guns. I think they did you a favor. You already have a Compact 1911 in 9MM. Now drop a grand in a quality full size .45 1911 and head to the range. I think you will be a happy guy, with an extra $2k in his pocket. But hey, I could be wrong.

I haven’t used 30 Carbine in either of those brands, but I have used Aguila and A-Merc in an M1 Carbine. I had a few boxes of A-Merc and it performed terrible; multiple jams in every mag full. I switched to Aguila I got from CMP and never had another problem.

I’ve also been kicking around the idea of trading a Garand for a high end scoped revolver.
