  1. Facebook......some people are slow to learn.
  2. That will never stand; even if a jury agrees (they will probably want to). It’s another political stunt. If it does stand, arrest and charge the people that don’t allow teachers to defend themselves and their students by banning guns in schools. No question that cost lives.
  3. That is an amazing story. It reminds me of the autopsy photos we were shown at my department of a guy that took (14-19?) rounds on 9mm in solid body hits. He didn’t know it yet, but he was dead, and he was still standing returning fire. As that Officer discovered the will to live and an adrenaline rush is a strong thing; for both of them. The Newhall incident, The Miami shootout, The North Hollywood shootout, what happened to Sergeant Gramins, Pulse night club, Vegas shooting, the Waffle House shooting, and many others teach us that given the chance bad guys will kill you in a heartbeat. And while having that beat into your head there are those that want you to wait those precious seconds with an armed criminal to see what he will do. Yep, the Nashville DA and Mayor should be ashamed of themselves. Heck with that, when a criminal threatens someone with a gun their rights end. I suspect a jury will agree. If they don’t, we are all in danger, not only from the criminals, but from the legal system being used as a political weapon to help people get elected. Cops get tired of fighting both sides.
  4. It’s a shame he had to commit suicide because of what the city was doing. Its also a shame the cops had to kill him; they live with that. We worry so much about “warning signs” before an attack. People are left standing around talking about how they had no idea. I have an idea. How about having a hot line that people that are being wronged can call to get help. A line that would be the equivalent of saying “If someone doesn’t do something about this, I’m going to start dropping bodies.” Because of course if someone actually said that the fix would be to put them in jail or a mental facility. Everybody can’t be helped but those that could actually fix things wouldn't be left wondering what happened; they would know. That didn’t have to happen in that town; and there are people that could have fixed the problem. Those people know who they are and they are lucky a bunch of innocent citizens didn’t die… just one man who saw no other way out. Maybe that ideas unreasonable and maybe the hot line would be overwhelmed with minor stuff, but I’m a big believer that there are people that can make things happen.
  5. Exactly. There was a criminal that had made his mind up to commit multiple murders; all laws at that point are worthless. They needed something to make him unable or unwilling to fire his weapon at them, and they didn’t have that; it cost them their lives. The other thing here, just like the Vegas shooter, is that this doesn’t appear to be a nut case with nothing to live for, or a violent mental case. If there were any warning signs no one is talking about them yet.
  6. We have the same law here in Tennessee. Its call the Tennessee Firearms Freedom act. License holders all got a letter from the ATF saying that these sales were illegal and they would prosecute them. I got a copy of the letter because I have a C&R. It was discussed on all the gun forums. Several states passed versions of it. Last I heard one of the Federal Districts had shot the idea down. So no manufacturers or licensed dealers will be selling under those circumstances; because the FEDS, not the state control them. Looks like GOA is funding this suit, so I doubt the NRA will get involved. I wonder why our AG isn’t on that list.. I also wonder if the specific question they are going to answer will impact our TFFA....if they decide to hear the case.
  7. Trump didn’t ban bump stocks or make them illegal. They were illegal the first day they were invented. You think just because some dumb azz sitting in an ATF office decides a bump stock is legal everything is okay? He was an idiot and it clearly violated the intent of the law. “Amend the rules as they see fit” you have to be kidding me; that is exactly what happened to make them available. Sure, lets have the ATF decide what’s legal and have no recourse. We’ll see how that works. “It wasn't until Trump decided he wanted them gone that the the DOJ suddenly decided they were out.” More . A guy climbed up in a building and cut loose with automatic weapon fire killing 58 people and wounding 422. That is why they are gone; had nothing to do with Trump.
  8. QFT A quality weapon should be flawless right out of the box. I’ve only had to send one back for failures and it was a Shield. I had good ammo and I wasn’t going to play the “maybe it’s the magazine” game. They fixed it quickly and sent it back; no more failures. The only manufacturer I have seen that requires a break-in period is Kahr. They recommend 200 rounds. Like Mac said, to me that is for me to familiarize myself with the gun, sight it in, and be confident it is a quality product; not for me to finish their deburr and quality inspection for them. Any manufacturer can have a bad product get out; some more than others. But lets be fair. You have to have a clean gun, quality ammo, and be using it properly. If it’s a carry gun or a home defense gun; your life or the lives of your family could depend on the quality of the gun and the ammo you choose. Not a good time to be swapping mags, banging, bending, dremeling or bubbaing a gun to get it to be reliable.
  9. Ha, Ha, Ha, I also carried a revolver on duty. I only had 12 extra rounds in two speed loaders and felt comfortable. Even though in the Academy they spent a couple of hours on the Newhall Incident that happened years before in 1970. I’m not OCD about carrying a gun. I’ll generally carry a Shield a J-frame or a K-frame on me. My reload plan is a New York reload. I keep a full size M&P near me and an extra mag with it. However, I figure now being a citizen, if I get into something 15 rounds of .40S&W can’t get me out of; I’m in big trouble anyway. But it could happen. I feel someone getting the drop on me is far more likely than me needing a bunch of rounds of ammo. I know what you mean about unreasonable phobias though. Mine is wasps. I can honestly say I would rather go on a man with a gun call than deal with wasps.
  10. Well that didn’t take long. The anti’s have a new focus. I really don’t use them because the cost is freaking ridiculous due to them being illegal. I refuse to pay $1000 for a $100 item. That cost would fall like a rock if they were legal. I suspect that may now be on hold. Maybe Trump with comment further after he talks with Jr. "This killer planned it and had a distinct advantage with a silencer." @NBCNews law enforcement expert Jim Cavanaugh on the Virginia Beach shooting suspect. Democrat presidential candidate Seth Moulton suggests American’s freedoms should be limited based on need: “We should not have suppressors, you don’t need a suppressor, I mean that’s, that’s something like, you know, assassins need to use” The shooter who killed 12 people in a government office building in Virginia Beach used a firearm equipped with a suppressor that muffles the sound of gunfire. It’s the nightmare scenario that gun-control advocates have warned about amid efforts in recent years to ease restrictions on the devices, which they say can help shooters escape detection and inflict more carnage. NRA's shameless new grift: Pushing silencers like the one the Virginia Beach shooter used. After Virginia Beach, NRA rushes to tell the world silencers are safe — because its only goal is to boost sales. Donald Trump Jr. even made a video back in September 2016 in which he fired a silencer-equipped automatic pistol such as was used to such devastating effect in Virginia on Friday.
  11. I think you are doing a good job at finding what you want. You have the same problem many of us have regardless of the type weapon…there is plenty of options with exactly what we want; but not at the price we want to spend. That’s the bad news. Is there good news? Of course there is! The good news is that if it’s a type shooting you really enjoy; you will eventually find out that what you want to spend and what you need to spend are not the same. I got out of shotguns for awhile because I was getting old and they (12GA Pumps) were beating me up. Sure, I could do it; but it wasn’t much fun anymore. With some friends still shooting shotguns; I decided I wanted to get back into it. I decided I wanted a quality 12GA auto that was a cream puff to shoot. It cost a lot and I really enjoy it.
  12. I looked through the whole thread; so I earned the privilege of commenting. I just laughed out loud when I read the first comment that with very few words covered what the OP discovered.
  13. I own Leupold, Nikon and Vortex, and some other lower brands. I would suggest you look at the Leupold Freedom line; it replaced the VX1 &VX2. You might want to check to see if the quality is still there. I have not owned any but seen reviews that they are the quality of the VX-2. In buying scopes from $200 to $1000 by opinion is you can’t buy a better scope than a Leupold in that category. Nikon and Vortex are good scopes, but you will definitely see a difference in the Leupold. The Vortex Viper (6.5-20X44) is a good scope once you acquire a sight picture, but its hands down no where close to the Leupold VX-III (6.5-20x44) in making that acquisition. I wouldn’t have bought it if I had looked through it first. Save yourself some money and buy a Nikon. (In fairness, I’m comparing it to a much higher cost Leupold) Both those scopes are beyond your budget; they are just my comparison. Let’s see… you want something high quality, that can stand up to rough use, but you want it cheap, and you want it from Bass Pro Leupold 174180 VX-Freedom 3-9x40 You can pick it up at Bass Pro for $200. Or $175 from Amazon Prime delivered tomorrow. https://www.leupold.com/scopes/rifle-scopes/vx-freedom-3-9x40 Leupold 174665 VX-Freedom 4-12x40 I would add some money to your budget and pick it up at Bass Pro for $350. Or $292 from Amazon Prime delivered Tuesday. https://www.leupold.com/scopes/rifle-scopes/vx-freedom-4-12x40 That’s my opinion and its worth exactly what you paid for it.
  14. A clear understanding of that sure would have saved someone a lot of typing.

  16. I know Dave, the guy that made the video you saw. I’m sure he wouldn’t care if I PM’d you his address and you sent him some money.
  17. I agree with you. However….two people have called the PD in the area in question. One was told they “absolutely could not” have a gun in the car, the other said whoever they talked to was “Dead Set” on saying it was illegal. We don’t know who they talked to, could have been a desk clerk, a dispatcher, or a rookie that doesn’t know. Or it could have been a Command Officer that has talked with and got the opinion of the local DA. So for my kids this would have been a teaching moment.
  18. No kidding. But how robust is the release on that? Would it easily release if it hit something in your pocket? I usually clip my auto knives to my pocket; but not always.
  19. That statement doesn’t make sense. Educate us. Do you have something other than the statues I posted on the first page? What documentation do you have that will convince an Officer if he thinks its illegal? You have to do whatever you are ready to take responsibility for. I wouldn’t go in the woods without being armed. Anytime possession of a gun becomes an issue, my first question is always “How did the gun become an issue?” Those circumstances usually drive the outcome. As I said before; because the Tennessee law that allows this (39-17-1307) has the text “Is not prohibited from possessing or receiving a firearm by 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) or purchasing a firearm by § 39-17-1316” an argument could be made that 39-17-1316 makes it illegal (Background Check)for anyone under 21 to purchase a handgun from a dealer; and therefore can’t carry in a car. Tennessee lawmakers should have made it clear what their intent was.

Like most Americans; I’m sick of this impeachment talk. You have a handful of Idiots in Congress who just like to hear their name on TV. And you have all of the networks (Yes, FOX included. PLEASE FOX make it stop.) that feel the need to hammer us day after day, hour after hour with this non-sense, instead of reporting on anything else. Good grief…this saying was never truer than now…Being stupid should hurt.
  21. You will always have the “Can’t talk about it” “unnamed sources very high up” BS. But the fact remains that if they wanted to make contact; they would. We can’t all be judged on the lowest common denominator. We do have some intelligent life in this country. Remember the pilots decades ago that tracked a fast-moving aircraft? It had to be a UFO; we didn’t have anything that could fly that fast! Yeah well, we did have. Came out many years later they were tracking a SR-71. As far as a cover up… other than not wanting to let the world know what their abilities are, what does our government have to gain by covering this up? Statement from the government: Yes, we tracked some UFO’s and no, we don’t have any idea where they are from or how they got here; that is all. If that BS AOC put out didn’t cause any backlash on the government or hysteria from the public; saying they tracked some UFO’s or there is life on other planets certainly won’t.
  22. I don’t doubt other life exists; we can’t be the only life in the universe. But people trying to sell posters and get donations aren’t very creditable to me. When they are ready; they will make contact.
  23. Tucker Carlson did a good piece on this last night.... worth watching at this link. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/tucker-carlson-corporations-not-voters-are-in-charge-now-and-want-to-boss-you-around-for-the-activist-left
  24. If there is a need for it; there will probably be someone that will take their money. Microsoft will probably be willing to take the customers they kick to the curb. Just another rich nut case trying to commit suicide for a company.
