  1. It’s been 44 years since I was in the Navy and I was never a SEAL. But I have trouble believing that statement came from any SEAL. Gallagher and his rifle could be providing protection for them on an operation. Have things changed so much that a whole team would let one member put all their lives at risk?? I just don’t buy it.
  2. Heck yes....
  3. I refuse to let violent murderers change how I act and where I go. I also refuse to drag a bunch of stuff around with me in case something happens. If that causes my death; so be it. Granted, the world is a dangerous place; but if you are always fearful you will miss a lot of living. But that’s just me, everyone has to do what they are ready to take responsibility for. Because you are the only one responsible for your safety.
  4. https://time.com/5610116/navy-seal-edward-gallagher-isis-murder-trial/ Apparently things have changed a lot since I was in the Navy. Messing with his rifle and firing warning shots at civilians so he couldn’t kill them?? What the heck was going on in that unit?? That doesn’t make sense either. A SEAL unit (or any other small specialized unit) can’t operate that way. This is crazy. "ill feeling from junior SEALs in his platoon who resented his leadership" you have to be kidding me. I don’t care if he executed an ISIS fighter that was not longer a threat. But if that isn’t the ROE; it looks like he will be convicted. I believe that war should be a terrible violent action that no one will want to participate in. That is really what is on trial here; just how brutal can we be.
  5. Until you get a membership somewhere, you might want to check out Terry Walden’s range in Manchester. Pistol Range, 300 meter rifle range, $10 to shoot and doesn’t require a membership. https://www.facebook.com/Terry-Walden-Gunsmith-and-More-463632530390794/
  6. I was surprised to see that deaths caused by distracted drivers are approaching that caused by drunk drivers. I’m not sure how they know that; but I suspect those that are the problem will not change; just like drunk drivers. Not doing something that will kill people while driving a car is basic common sense. People that need laws to explain it to them don’t have a chance.
  7. What are those??
  8. It’s 1095 Cro-Van, at 56-58 Rockwell. That is a proven steel (also known as Sharon Steel Co. 170-06 or 1095CV) at a hardness that should work well and retain an edge without being brittle. The blade is coated with an Epoxy Powder Coating so it won’t rust, for those that don’t take care of their blades. I don’t traipse around in the woods much, but the Big Brother is the knife I would carry if I decided to do that.
  9. Check the website of the airlines you will be flying.... here is what SouthWest has to say. https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/baggage/special-luggage-pol.html
  10. I don’t go to web sites run by Alex Jones. Not many people that have an IQ higher than their age do. But I certainly don’t see how someone can be sued for publicly stating their theories; no matter how stupid they are. If I’m mistaken and we can sue people for saying ignorant stuff that never would or never could happen; are there any lawyers on the forum that want to file a case against AOC?? Her non-sense is every bit as outlandish and ignorant as anything Jones has come up with.
  11. Yes, you can put your ammo in the checked gun case. You might want to read this... https://www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunition
  12. Sounds like he either misjudged his abilities or he wasn’t expecting the armed guards on the other side of the door he thought he was going to enter. The first good guys with guns didn’t have to get there; they were already there. Too bad more attacks don’t end like that.
  13. You!! Buy it and put it on Chickamauga Lake. It has a well deck area that you could fill with ice and beer for your friends. It doesn’t need a dock; just run it aground when you make another beer run for us.
  14. Exactly.
  15. Last week I went to E. Tennessee and got to check-out Smokey Mountain Knife Works and Buds Guns. SMKW was much larger than I expected. There had to be over 100 people working there! It was huge. I had always wanted an Old School NAVY KA-BAR so I decided to pick one up while I was there. I also found that they have a “Big Brother” to the traditional KA-BAR; so I got it also.
  16. No, because we are too busy worrying about tornados. And tornados don’t give two about building codes.
  17. That's a true statement.
  18. Funny to hear Tennessee drivers talk about another state having aggressive drivers.
  19. Absolutely. During the ammo shortage so many were upset that the ammo manufacturers didn’t add equipment. Had they done that they would be in a jam now. There is no shortage of ammo. The prices are down on new firearms and I would expect sales are near non-drama levels of the past. But that’s low by Obama era standards. My opinion is that gun distributors add no value to the end user; just cost. I suspect at some point most of the gun manufacturers will bring distribution in-house. That will be a win for us all. I’ve not slowed down on buying guns. I’m just buying more of them new than before; because the price of used has yet to drop.
  20. Realtors are a dime a dozen and many don’t want to mess with anything very involved; that’s why they don’t make the cut. When I moved to Tennessee I had some specific issues to address. I blasted out an email of very specific requirements and waited for responses. I had a whole bunch of “Come on down; I’m sure we have something” like you would get from a car dealer, a few that said they couldn’t do what I wanted, and one that addressed my specific needs and said “Give me a call, and let’s make that happen”. What I got was one of the top realtors in Murfreesboro that did a great job. My point? I would expect my realtor to be able to provide me with the names of contractors in the area. I would expect that to be part of the job of a good realtor. Maybe someone can give you the name of a good realtor in the area also?
  21. Why? Other than the inventory impacted in this case; how could this impact or cause “dark times” ahead?
  22. Whaaaaatt?? Gun manufacturers taking a hit by a distributor going under? That’s not possible is it?
  23. Good. Maybe we can get one of those pro-gun democrats elected. And maybe they will change the minds of a bunch of democrats in congress. Maybe we can get that gun-hating Trump out and replace him with a gun loving President that will get 2nd amendment rights recognized for all.
  24. The SCOTUS refused to hear the case. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-court-guns/supreme-court-rebuffs-bid-to-expand-legal-protections-for-gun-silencers-idUSKCN1TB1PD
  25. I’m sure you would, as would many people. There are many people alive today because of cops. As I have said before their job is to go when called and assess the situation when they get there. Yes, it is their job and most take it seriously; many have laid down their live to protect others. The “Duty” that many like to discuss has little to do with duty and plenty to do with liability. If the Police are required to protect you; so are the courts. And that just won’t fly. People making broad sweeping statements about cops because Peterson was a coward is no different that the broad sweeping statements made about gun owners after a shooting. Or making generalizations about gun owners because of the type of guns they have or the amount of ammo in their house. You say you have disregarded what Peterson said and went in. With all due respect, you don’t know that; that’s your emotions talking. Hindsight is 20/20. Its pretty easy to make judgments after the fact, when you know the facts. It took awhile for other responding Officers to figure out what was going on and act. Blame Peterson, blame the Sheriff’s department, blame the school board, blame the citizens of a rich community that didn’t give their kids the protect they needed; and that they could afford. I’ll blame the shooter. You, Me, 10 other people on this forum together, or a SWAT team, could not stop a school shooter from stacking up a big body count if they are dedicated and prepared to die. All you can do is try to reduce the body count. Someone running in and getting killed instead of being focused on taking out the shooter might get them hero status; but it does nothing for the next victims in line. The challenge is to take out the shooter, not be a bullet sponge. As I said before Peterson should not have been there; he was not qualified to deal with the problem; its not a retirement gig.
