  1. Problems with internet availability will soon be a thing of the past.
  2. That’s sounds like a hardware issue with either your network adapter on your pc or your modem from the cable company; not an operating system problem. Easiest things first. Have you reset your modem and done a speed test? Who is your internet provider and what speed are you paying for? Many WiFi cards for desktops have screw in type antennas that go with them. Does yours?
  3. It was probably in petty good shape 56 years ago.
  4. Is your computer a desktop on ethernet or a laptop on WiFi?
  5. You don’t have to change just because support stops. There are still people running XP. You probably shouldn’t upgrade to windows 10 until you can get a new PC. But if your PC is running 7 okay it will probably run 10 okay. The problem usually is not will your PC handle it, but loading a new operating system on top of an old one just doesn’t work well. But yes, at some point you will no longer be able to run Windows 7. Window 10 can be set-up so that you probably wouldn’t notice much (if any) difference.
  6. Don’t shoot while you are riding. Don’t run from the Police; but if you do don’t carry. Always wear eye protection. Ride like everyone is out to kill you; they are. Oh and for all of you…. don’t give your Dads crap about not riding their Harley as much as they use to. They are sick of hearing about and its none of your business.
  7. You can have a gun in your car in Illinois with a Tennessee HCP; you can’t without it. My WAG is that Illinois will not recognize the new permit even for that; but we have no way of knowing that yet.
  8. You might want to check this out....
  9. Now we're talking; PBR and FIREBALL.....lets get this party started!!
  10. Its been around 5 years and really hasn’t taken off. Its basically a rimless .460 S&W Magnum. It was touted as a big bore hunting round. It looks to me like it would be a hard hitting hog round, but it wouldn’t have the range of a .308. It would be expensive to build and shoot (unless you reload). Other than the cool factor; I don’t see what you are getting for your money.
  11. I am painting with a broad brush. I’m one of those old guys; and I've seen plenty also. I’m trained, but I still understand that many security situations required physical ability and agility that we don’t have. I’m not saying the old guys are useless, I’m saying you/they have to know their limitations and work with that. Is that age discrimination on my part? Of course it is; security is young mans game.
  12. Other than name brand online retailers, Grab a Gun, Buds; I haven’t had to deal with buying from other states. That may be about to change, some pricing on used guns on GB and AL is looking pretty good compared to what I can buy used locally. I assume if someone sends me their info its pretty easy for me to verify who they are and if they are an FFL. GB appears to be pretty straight forward, AL looks like the wild wild west of gun buying/selling.
  13. I had to look that up. NOT WORK SAFE
  14. I know some of you could care less where your guns are made; but many of us do; this discussion is for those members. Buy American, Hire American, America First. More and more we see guns in the bottom feeder category that are American Made. Lets face it, until the last few years the only decent American Made gun that is low cost and wasn’t (arguably) junk was the Hi Point. We have come a long way. The thread about the Stoger and the Canik (both made in Turkey) being under $300 made me think that we have better options for less money; even American Made options. So if you like to buy cheap guns, and want to buy American; now is a good time. Even prices on some of the top quality, best sellers in the Industry have dropped. The SCCY CPX we routinely see selling below $200. It’s currently made in Florida with the company in the process of moving to Tennessee. And it gets good reviews Kel-Tec PF-9 right at $200 and the P-11 just over, and made here. Diamondback at just over $200. New models like the Remington R51 (brought back after a bad start) at just over $200 and the Mossberg MC1SC at around $300; we shall see. Ruger EC9 at around $250 and Security 9 and SR9 at $300. MOSSBERG MC1SC at $300; we shall see. All the Highpoints at around $175. They have a big following… bless their heart. And even Smith & Wesson Shields at $250 and Full Size models dropping below $300!! Proven performers.
  15. Hurry up and wait. Easy for them to say huh?
  16. As a whole….I think to be realistic it requires more than a passing commitment by those involved. Many facets would be involved. The thing I see lacking is most church security info is live fire training. A bunch of old guys with pistols in their pockets is not (IMO) “better than nothing”; it is worse. You need to try (as best you can) to set-up working as a team. That involves mock scenarios and what each person should do. I think there are trained professionals that offer their services free, or at a low cost to churches. I’d have a conversation with the local Police Chief or Sheriff about training; you might be surprised what they are willing to offer. Legal training is also required. You must all understand the use of deadly force laws in this state. As a former cop my recommendation for this is always the local DA. Their interpretation of the law is the only one that matters, as far as someone being charged with a crime. Civil liability is also a big deal, not only for the church, but for all of you collectively, and individually. A good local attorney that handles those type of cases would be where I would start. We live in litigious times, so that will be open ended about what could happen. It’s good that you are doing this for your church and your community.
  17. That’s what happens at my house. Minus the beautiful graveside service of course.
  18. Tennessee isn’t Constitutional carry nor do they recognize the 2nd amendment as an individual right. And they probably never will. My own belief on what is impacting this is Tennessee’s dependency on the tourist trade. Memphis, Nashville, Smokey Mountains area, and Chattanooga; all depend on that money. Constitutional carry, or not allowing businesses to post their own property with the weight of law would impact the tourist trade.
  19. I’ve never dealt with this in Tennessee, so maybe someone in the know can comment but… I worked for a machine tool manufacturer. We had customers that would commonly have “issues” with CNC machines. In some areas the power companies guaranteed a certain amount of reliability or fluctuation. Several times I dealt with customers where we would contact the power company for a customer when we suspected fluctuations beyond the norm. They would either fix the problem or put meters on the lines to monitor the problem.
  20. And possibly, presumably, arguably, whether or not your permit is recognized in other states.
  21. Unless you want to go without a permit until the first of next year; you need to start from scratch on a HCP. You can wait until the first of the year if all you want is a CCP, and don't care about possible issues with reciprocity with other states. Then you just do the online BS and send money.
  22. Brownouts can kill electronics as quick as a surge. I’ve lived in Murfreesboro over 20 years and the only power issues I have had is squirrels committing suicide.
