  1. I feel comfortable discussing Illinois gun laws because I know them. That does not include Chicago or Cook County. I’ll give you my opinion, but you need to do the research if you are entering Cook County. Chicago and Cook County has routinely thumbed their nose at not only the Attorney General of the State of Illinois, but the SCOTUS. Chicago finally conceded that state laws trumps their law and there are no magazine limitations. Illinois allows cities and counties to pass their own gun laws. But they require them to notify the state and have them posted in a public area. This link is that area for information on any city or county you may be going into. https://www.ispfsb.com/Public/Firearms/MunicipalOrdinances.aspx Illinois law does not require you to notify an Officer you are carrying if you are stopped. It does require you to answer truthfully if you are stopped and asked. Your carry permit only covers you in your vehicle. If you exit that vehicle carrying a loaded gun; you are committing a crime. You will find that most of the LEO's in Illinois are very professional and polite, that includes the Illinois State Police on the highways, who have an excellent reputation. That does not include the Chicago PD. If you get stopped by them don’t become stupid; most of the stories you have heard about them are probably true. I hope this helps, have a nice trip. EDIT: I should probably add that my comments above assume a Tennessee HCP. If you do not have an HCP or do not have it on your person to hand to the Officer; you can’t have a loaded gun in your vehicle in Illinois.
  2. My guess would be those "car sale" mags in the gas stations, and publications like Hemmings Motor News. MHRC (Murfreesboro Hot Rod Club) has a cruise in twice a month on Saturday. I haven’t been to it in years, but it used to be huge. I would guess that’s where your target market would be. Take something you have done, and put out some signs. But you need to post some pictures here of cars you have done.
  3. I bet if you took it back to the store and left it with Chris; he would get it signed. I would.
  4. I’ve seen enough Pictures Video, and Stories about him on Al Gore’s World Wide Web that I knew who he was when I saw him.
  5. I was in the store one day and Ronnie was walking around. I felt like I should ask for his autograph…. but I didn’t. After I left I thought; I bet people didn’t think John Browning or John Garand’s autograph would be a cool thing to have back in the day either.
  6. That’s a ridiculous analogy. I wouldn’t want to be shot with a .22, or even a spitball through a straw. Does that make it a good self defense weapon? Of course not. My point was not that those people don’t deserve that; absolutely they do. I was just predicting it will happen. How will it happen? ….Physics. If the Engineers just gave up when faced with a problem; we would still only have the option of revolvers and bolt action rifles.
  7. Nope....sorry...didn't happen. It was dark brown. I'm sure of that because I read it on the World Wide Web.
  8. These ideas have been tried in Tennessee. As a matter of fact it was Tennessee V. Garner that stopped the shooting of fleeing forcible felons. Each case has to be looked at individually. Most of these conversations inevitably end up with the bad guy armed and a good citizen wanting to know if its okay to kill them. Well its kinda like saying the cops killed someone over a simple traffic ticket, when the truth is the cop killed someone because they were trying to kill them. If someone is armed and threatening you; you are no longer dealing with a property case, and how you got there may well have very little bearing on the case. The lines you can or cannot cross are generally pretty clear. Unless of course you want to become a test dummy at trial. If you find yourself headed for trial; you have a serious problem.
  9. You guys crack me up. You will read that there is no such color as black and believe it. Gives new meaning to “Who you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?” Some of you guys need to get out more.
  10. In the video of the Barrett Factory Tour at the 12:00 mark Chris Barrett is talking about Cerakote and how the military doesn’t want anything black. That surprised me for a couple of reasons, 1. Guns aren’t supposed to be painted, and Cerakote is painting a gun because you are too lazy or too cheap to put the proper high gloss polished blue finish on it, and 2. Some things, specifically Harley's and guns; are supposed to always be black. Duh..Everyone knows that. So I’ll probably be sorry I asked this because the military does some really stupid stuff when it comes to weapons, but why don’t they want black?
  11. This video is almost 2 years old, but I just ran across it and thought I would share it since they are in our community. I know some of you don’t like Yeager, but try to overlook that. Chris Barrett gives a good tour. I didn’t know Barrett was making a bolt action hunting rifle. I also didn’t know the military doesn’t want black guns. But I’ll start another thread about that. Enjoy....
  12. Does that require some specific group size? If so what size?
  13. Could it be a Winchester model 67A? That would require drilling and tapping it. I wouldn’t do that if it’s in any kind of decent shape.
  14. I can have a gun in my car on My Tennessee HCP. I don’t know why a Florida permit would be any different, but it may be. Here is what the Illinois law has to say about it: (430 ILCS 66/40) (e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident: (1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law; (2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of his or her state or territory of residence, as evidenced by the possession of a concealed carry license or permit issued by his or her state of residence, if applicable; and (3) is not in possession of a license under this Act. If the non-resident leaves his or her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection (b) of Section 65 of this Act.
  15. Because that’s the Engineering challenge. Granted there are plenty of small semi’s; even up to .40S&W, such as the Shield. There is no reason the features touted for the EZ Shield only come in a worthless round like the .380. Great, now do that for a 9mm; someone will.
  16. I wonder how long before they make one in 9mm.
  17. That's okay, .STP is great for me.
  18. I couldn't get that to load....
  19. Interesting. I just looked that up, with a quick glance; it’s free for hobbyists? Can it create or import a .STP file? Any obvious limitations?
  20. Is your 3D model a software model, or did you actually make a model?
  21. I thought Axl was so messed up he didn’t think he needed to make it to shows anymore; they got rid of him, and he moved to AC/DC. Trivia: 27 Years Ago yesterday Axl Rose Was Arrested at JFK Airport on a warrant from St. Louis prosecutors for his part in the 1991 St. Louis Riot during a Guns N’ Roses show.
  22. No, that is not correct, there are no free fire zones. Castle Doctrine is not really laws, but a set of legal principals. You can’t just shoot a stranger just for entering your house. The person must have unlawfully and forcibly entered. If that occurs Tennessee law gives you a presumption that deadly force was justified. There is nothing that stops a DA from trying to remove that presumption and prove deadly force was not justified. We live in times where 50% of the population has a problem with the Police or Citizens killing people committing crimes or threatening deadly force. (Like most statistics, I just made that number up on the spot to fit my narrative, but I believe its accurate. ) Know the law; it is your responsibility. There are going to be people that have days, weeks or even months to decide if what you did in a few seconds was reasonable. And some of those people don’t care if it was reasonable; they just want you convicted. Did you ever read that Federal Law? I’m a dog lover and own a dog; I would never do anything intentional to hurt an innocent dog. But if a dog attacked me I would shoot it; same as if a criminal attacked me. As far as letting cops into your house without a warrant, I would guess that would depend on why there were there and why they wanted to go into your house; wouldn’t it?
  23. You are not justified in the use of deadly force to protect property. If someone threatens you with a gun you are no longer protecting property; you are protecting your life. The fact they have a gun means nothing; unless they use it or threaten you with it. My own personal test for the use of deadly force is very simple and would, I think, apply to most states. The use of deadly force would be justified if a reasonable person would believe they were in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm. Keep in mind that what a “reasonable person” believes doesn’t mean anyone cares what you were thinking; they don’t. It means a jury will decide if they thought what you did was reasonable to them. You can’t shoot someone and know you won’t kill them; so that is not addressed in the law. Shooting them assumes deadly force. Part of taking care of your family means staying out of prison and not financially bankrupting your family with a criminal trial. You probably don’t own any property that is worth risking that. Now having said that let me add this… I was a Police Officer in a time where we could shoot people committing or fleeing forcible felonies. Those times are past and you, nor the Police can do that anymore. We need that changed back. Our laws need to protect the victim; not the offender.
  24. Here is a list of the bills sponsored or co-sponsored by Representative Boyd. I don’t see any bill like that; but I could have overlooked it. http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/sponsorlist/default.aspx?ID=H460&ga=111
