  1. But they are enforced. If you make a threat in Tennessee the cops can come and seize your guns. Is that not true? What I don’t see is a clearly defined set of rules or “Due Process”. It appears to me they do whatever they want or whatever they can get away with. Lacking specific instructions; that's all they can do. Everyone that is a gun owner needs to know what is going to happen if they make violent threats and the cops get called, or if they threaten suicide and the cops get called. If family members and friends can’t handle the situation and call for law enforcement; guns are going to get seized if there is probable cause to do so. Anything less and the liability is simply too high, and the danger to innocent people too great.
  2. This is the law... You can’t shoot someone for theft. When they turn on you with a weapon; it’s not a theft case anymore. Same applies for cops. When they stop someone for speeding and they pull a gun; the person isn’t shot for speeding. Speeding is no longer relevant. Right or wrong the Officer was in pursuit of a suspect. That suspect pulled a gun and had it in his hand. He refused orders to stop and to drop the gun. He was headed for cover. If you can’t use deadly force in that circumstance; God help us all.
  3. I wonder is this will get slowed by the Feds sticking their nose in??
  4. What you are suggesting; shuts down this forum. We are in the most politically charged times I have seen in my 65 years. People want to talk about it, and they are going to do it on social media; its freedom of speech. You can’t control it you can only react when a line is crossed. I suspect however you are going to see changes. I have said before that the Police have the ability to put a major dent in drug abuse without violating anyone’s rights. I say the same thing about those that openly make threats, expressed or implied. Freedom of speech does not include threats of violence; and I think you are about to see that kick in. The American people want these people arrested and jailed when they make threats. For the very few that think threats are covered by the first amendment; they can make that argument in front of a jury of their peers. Mental heath is the biggest problem. These people are not normal; they are sick. And when their writings bring them out into the light they need to be taken out. The problem is by the time that is attempted; its usually too late. Red flag laws are a part of this. Yet you see the hard line 2nd amendment folks that seem to see having their guns taken away for violent threats a violation of their 2nd amendment rights. Some are the same folks that want to blame the cops because they didn’t take someone’s guns. I believe we will see Red Flag laws passed that have clearly defined due process.
  5. Yep, the amount of time it takes the second gun to arrive at the scene will impact the body count.
  6. He just turned 21 this week. Dang man, that's a short period of time to be that messed up. Hope we have some good folks upcoming in the mental health field; they may be the only hope for some.
  7. I think you are right. Unless things have changed Texas and Florida are in a race to see who can execute more people.
  8. Only one shooter. I don't think its clear what he used; other than a rifle. Here's how stupid this stuff is. A senior Fox Reporter just said that an AK-47 is typically a Eastern European weapon and not commonly found in the United States; so it probably wasn't that. I don''t know why some appear to be more interested in the type of weapon that the victims. We know its going to be a semi-auto rifle.
  9. They are saying shooter in custody. "many" victims...15-20 rumored.
  10. This is from the Gunsmoke Actions Shooters FaceBook page for USPSA https://www.facebook.com/GunsmokeActionShooters/ it might help...
  11. I’m not saying the news story was incorrect. I’m saying “Good Guys” are being charged. Officer Andrew Delke has been charged with murder. If he is convicted it will further restrict our ability to defend ourselves against criminal thugs. He was chasing a criminal who was fleeing his attempt to stop him. The criminal had a gun in his hand, did not throw it down, did not stop when ordered to do so, and continued to run for cover. The Officer was immediate danger of death or great bodily harm. So you have a home invader try to force his way into your house. As you pull your gun he turns to run and you shoot him in the back. Or as you fire at a suspect pointing a gun at you; he turns and gets shot in the back of the head. The DA and Mayor in Nashville think that is murder. We all better hope a jury decides otherwise. However, even if they do, one of us wouldn't get the benefit of the doubt a cop will get from most citizens. My point is simple. If you display a gun during the commission of a crime or you put a reasonable person in fear that they are in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm; the use of deadly force should be justified. The pendulum has swung too far in protecting the rights of these low life criminals and the innocent victims are not getting the justice they deserve. Tennessee v. Garner needs to be overturned by the SCOTUS. Unfortunately is could be the Delke case they try to do that with; lets hope his case doesn’t go that route.
  12. Really? That’s amazing, most of the time you see the .38SPl and the 9mm battling it out. Good luck with your new gun.
  13. I have never put a light on a weapon. But having the Fenix PD35 V2, I think I would try this setup; the PD35 V2 is excellent. I like the V2 better than the TAC because of the side switch, but on a weapon light I don’t guess it would matter. I could use the same setup with the V2, but it doesn’t appear to come as a kit. All the stuff in the kit is available individually. https://www.amazon.com/EdisonBright-Tactical-Flashlight-Rechargeable-Charging/dp/B0728KLCQ1/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=fenix+pd35+tac+led+flashlight+tactical+bundle&qid=1564849844&s=gateway&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1
  14. "Teen suspect killed in restaurant robbery attempt is Nashville's third self-defense shooting in ten days" That is the headline of a story right now. All three were attempting to rob people at gun point when they got shot. The good guys have been charged. I hate to break it to you, but the Nashville DA has charged a cop with murder for doing exactly what you described. And if they can do with him; it will be a lot easier to do it with any of us. [RANT ON] It burns me up that the liberals and conservatives alike want to hold innocent citizens responsible for the actions of criminals. These laws they want will never hold up to a court challenge. Also, how are they going to determine if the car was locked or not; ask the criminal? Don’t laugh at that; I bet that’s what they do. Plea bargain with a statement the vehicle was unlocked at they get a conviction plus another suspect that might have some money they can get. I keep a gun in my car. I go places I can't carry it. I lock my car. That doesn't mean a criminal can't commit a burglary by opening my car. One of us gets arrested because a gun stolen from our car was used in a crime and bet you have gun owners lined up to say "He should have had his car locked." or "He should have had a safe in his car." I have an idea. Unhandcuff the Police, tell them to stop the violent crime in their areas of assignment, assure them that when they arrest the violent thugs with guns those criminals will go to jail and they won’t get out for a very long time, give your Officers the support they deserve; have their back. [RANT OFF]
  15. I doubt proprietary mags has as much to do with them going out of business as the $1800 price tag for a pistol caliber carbine. But…. you may be right.
  16. Welcome to TGO and to the retirement club.
  17. Wow, times have changed. If you sell more 10mm than .40; that’s truly amazing. But….aren’t the 10mm guys the big dog in the room? And why would you, as a gun store employee, be upset enough by what someone carries to refer to them as the Big Dog in the room? Doesn’t Sumner County carry .40’s? I know Gallatin PD carries 9mm; that’s what Beretta gave them. But hey, I don’t know how we got sidetracked talking about the 10mm guys and big dogs, and all that. This discussion is about the kittens. The M&P EZ, and for the time it’s only available in .380. I was just pointing out that I would bet they will offer that in a usable round (at least in the dog family), and that they are having problems with it probably (although I could be wrong, I have been before) do to that weak round. Why will that happen? Because people that have problems racking the slide on other firearms need it. That grip safety is a whole other story; it has nothing to do with racking that slide. That I know of, but I could be wrong about that also.
  18. You have good taste in quality leather holsters. I see one problem though. Quality leather holsters without a thumb break are useless for those of us that like to do back flips on the dance floor while we are out clubbing.
  19. Really? Thanks for that insider info. I will come and see you when I add my next .40 handgun because I know you will want to give me a whopping big discount on the gun and ammo..... Since it’s going by the wayside and all. It will be a Win/Win for both of us.
  20. As Defender pointed out; you are not its target market. If you can handle a 9MM and rack the slide on them it should be very easy for you to dislike the pistol. I have Shields, Compacts, and full size M&P’s. One in the more acceptable 9MM and several in the far superior .40S&W. The only reason to buy this gun would be if you can’t rack the slide on a regular shield. I don’t know if I’m allowed to post a link from another gun forum or not, but the S&W forum has a very long thread titled “M&P 380 EZ Stovepipe Cure?”. There are a lot of People having stovepipe problems with the EZ. Many are going down the rabbit hole of problems with magazines, springs and ammo. It took awhile for some to start sending them to S&W, but I saw where 3 people finally sent their guns in. Two got them back and said they were better, but still had the problem, I didn’t see the third post anything. What they appear to have determined is that its not an ammo issue. It’s not a magazine spring or follower issue, other than possibly a magazine design flaw or fit issue. Some EZ’s do not have the issue. There seem to be a lot of people that have the problem but S&W doesn’t appear to be saying anything yet. I’m with the guys that brought up there are feeding issues with most .380’s. They just don’t have enough power to reliably operate a semi-auto.
  21. [Rant ON] Smith & Wesson is playing fast and loose with the Performance Center name. It means nothing anymore. Except a higher price that you expect something for and don’t get it. And that comes from a Smith & Wesson fanboy. But right is right and wrong and is wrong. If you think you are getting something for that PC logo… you better check it out. Or if the money doesn’t matter to you; go for it. I had a PC C.O.R.E. that had the worst trigger I have ever seen on an M&P; and I’ve owned several. After them having me send it back twice (the second time at the direction of the Head of the Firearms Division) and them sending it back telling me nothing was wrong; I had to buy a new Apex Trigger and install it for the gun to even be usable. I had written to both the President and head of the Firearms Division at S&W and told them if that gun was ever in the Performance Center it was just on a cart passing through. Within days of mailing the letters I got a call from a CS guy that told me had just left the Firearms Directors office and was told to fix the problem. He told me to send the gun in with his attention on it. He said I didn’t have to send a letter or anything, he had talked with the head of the Performance Center and they would fix it. I did that and he sent it back with a note saying nothing was wrong with it. He showed me who was running things. So I just bought the new trigger and did it myself. Will I still buy Smith & Wesson firearms? Sure they have treated me right all my life. The azzhat I was dealing with had something to prove; and he did. But just look at their website; most everything’s PC anymore. If I ever need to buy a PC gun again (Doubtful); I’ll buy it from a local dealer where I can check it out first. [Rant OFF]
  22. Grip sleeves, but they don’t make them for the .45 guys. Youse guys are supposed to be tougher than that. Just kidding Hogue doesn’t make them for the .45, but other companies do.
  23. It's real. It's # 12719 in the Pimp model or #180023 in the regular model. A bunch of other options also.
  24. Two to the body and a head shot. Look at where your body shots are. Did your head shot hit the head? Everything matters. Will the two body shots with your high velocity FMJ 9mm or your .380 make him unwilling or unable to fire his weapon? If he’s your average criminal robbing you; probably. If he’s jacked up on drugs or has a mental problem; maybe not. Will the head shot stop him; I would bet on it. Once again… Everything matters. In a shooting scenario every little detail impacts the outcome. If your carry gun fails to fire because it is a bargain basement POS, or because you have never fired it, or because you can’t make it fire in the allotted time, or if your opponent has better equipment than you, is better trained than you, and is not bothered by worrying about what is legal and justified; shot placement will have no impact on your death. Absolutely. An Austin Police Officer shot an active shooter 104 yards away one handed while holding two horses with the other hand, using a S&W M&P40. That’s not good shooting that’s a hand of God miracle. I wonder how many people read that and had no idea what a feat that was. That shot killed the shooter before he could kill anyone. (Not saying he didn't use sights, just saying some shots are amazing.)
