  1. Wolff recoil springs - before starting a new thread on this subject PLS READ
  2. My last purchase (hand gun) included a shipping and handling charge of $19.20. I would think a long gun would be no more and probably less.
  3. For CZ shopping, go here: CZ Custom Shop These folks are the best.
  4. For the purpose of going armed Tennessee defines a firearm as any weapon designed, made or adapted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive or any device readily convertible to that use, including handguns, long guns, and all other weapons which meet the definition except "Antique Firearms" as defined by Federal law. Federal law defines an antique firearm as one made before 1899. Was the BP derringer made before 1899?
  5. "it dropped the hammer with enough force to fire a round." How did you determine this? I just tried the pencil test in my 238 and the pencil didn't move when pulling the trigger and dropping the hammer from a half cock.. This leads me to believe that either the FPB, or the intercept notch is preventing the hammer from contacting the firing pin or there isn't enough force to overcome the inertia of the firing pin spring when pulling the trigger and dropping the hammer from a half cock position. A trip to the range will confirm my theory.
  6. I did two of them. I'll never do another. OTOH, reassembling a CZ-82 does build character.
  7. It is my understanding mandatory carding applies only to off premises sale of beer and only, if in the opinion of the sales clerk, the buyer appears to be under the age of 50. This law was enacted in 2008 and replaced a one year law mandating carding for off premises sale of beer for all buyers, regardless of age.
  8. True, but the magazine disconnect safety is an abomination.
  9. If you buy by the case, AIM Surplus has some Swiss 124 gr for $9.75 a box.
  10. Predator Custom Shop installed rails on two of my Mark II's. I highly recommend them.

    G19 question

My Gen 4 19 has a shell casing collection date of 10/19/10 and came with a 03 recoil spring assembly. To date I have fired 625 rounds of mixed S&B, Federal and WWB, all 115 gr FMJ, without so much as a hiccup. First Glock I ever owned. Don't know why I waited so long to buy one.

  13. The collection needs to be appraised. For basic information on how to appraise your collection go here: How to Appraise a Stamp Collection | eHow.com This should keep you busy for the next few weekends. GL Jack
  14. If you only need the blade, it is available from Ruger parts.
  15. An Open Letter To President Obama In today's dangerous world, we need a president with experience, leadership and courage. Unfortunately, you have shown us little of those traits. Your childhood and younger years denied you the opportunity to grow up as an American man, and that is no fault of your own. Unfortunately, your lack of empathy for and experience of a traditional American upbringing has left you out of touch with those of us who grew up learning the traditions and work ethic of our predecessors. You have never accepted the honor of military service, or held and survived in any sort of entry-level working position. You are bereft of many of the basic building blocks of a true American personality and worldview. You have never experienced the icy hand of fear caressing your gut during a firefight when your very survival from second to second depends on your luck, wits, fellow troopers and the grace of God. You have never sweated out a payroll when your receivables are late. You've missed the rewarding feeling of flogging a loaded truck all night to deliver a load 500 miles away at 7 a.m. You never shoveled cow manure for less than minimum wage to earn enough for a rattletrap car. You missed out on greasing dump trucks on the night shift, and never had the opportunity to start out cleaning restrooms and sweeping floors in a factory. Your education was in the law, and you ignored any opportunity to absorb the lessons of history or the theories of economics. You have never experienced the law of the jungle in the private sector. While you play golf and basketball and surround yourself with "the swells" enjoying concerts in the People's House, those of us in the general public dine on Spam and Costco burgers. I can't put my wife on a 747 and send her to Spain so she can be ready to spend 10 days on Martha's Vineyard when she gets back. She works seven days a week and so do I — spreading four full- and part-time jobs between us to make ends meet. I watch in pain while my business venture slides into oblivion and my small IRA erodes as your economic policies push the nation into a double-dip recession. This economy is locking up again, and you cannot blame former President Bush. The great construction jobs I created are ending while you pour trillions in borrowed money into the public sector to buy votes. I blame you personally for appointing the ship of fools you have as Cabinet officials and advisers. You are repeating the gross mistakes of Japan in the '90s and the Roosevelt administration in the '30s — both of which failed and lengthened severe economic problems for a decade or more. You are intentionally smothering our private sector with regulations, taxes and mandates at the same time you squander the wages and futures of our children and grandkids. I deplore your continued efforts to divide the greatest nation of immigrants in the world along race and class lines. Pandering to various groups and attempting to set them against other Americans is demagoguery at its worst. I sincerely hope such actions end up damaging you in the end and not our country. You will leave office with a big pension, Secret Service protection and gold-plated health care for life. I may well end up with 40 years of hard work down the drain, living in a mobile home in the backwoods. I do not resent you for your good fortune — you worked hard to become president and won the election fair and square. I do, however, despise your policies and the damage they are visiting on our nation, its economy and our future. I have dedicated my remaining years to fighting you and your policies and protecting our children's futures. I may well end up destroyed financially from the results of your misguided and dangerous actions — but you will never break me psychologically or crush my spirit. I am a Marine, I have a wonderful wife and family, and last but not least, I live in the greatest nation in the world. I shall work to my last breath to keep it that way, and you, sir, shall fail to destroy that dream. • Howard, a Marine Corps veteran, University of Washington graduate and heavy-equipment supervisor for two decades, is now a developer with projects in Washington and Oregon. MINI 30

My mini 30 does not like the hard primers used in military 7.62 x 39 (10-15% FTF). Ruger's solution is to shoot only commercial ammo with softer primers. There goes your price advantage. If you like the cartridge so much, I would recommend an AK or SKS. Other than the above the rifle is a fun shooter, especially for an older feller who had to qualify with and carry both a M1 and a M14 (fortunately not at the same time).
  17. It appears to be a Colt commercial 1911. One of 15,000 made in 1919.
  18. Going to a higher power set of recoil springs may help. How far is the brass being thrown? If your brass is landing more than 3-5 feet away from you, replace the springs. Wolff sells a calibration kit. Or, just buy the 13 pound spring set as most of the guys on the LCP forum wind up using this set. I believe the stock spring set is 9 pounds. 13 worked for me.
  19. Bob Howard is the man. He did wonders with my Ruger wheel gun that I tired of sending back to Ruger.
  20. I carry my 442 in a DM Bullard IWB with a single metal hook and find it to be very comfortable. OTOH, I haven't seen 150 lbs since 1958.
  21. The U.S. Department of Transportation establishes baggage liability limits applicable to domestic travel. That limit is $3,300.00 and applies to all airlines. This would be SW's fall back position if negotiations get ugly.
  22. According to an email I received last night, SOG is no longer shipping P-64's with holsters. The pistol will ship with two magazines and a cleaning rod.
  23. Last time I looked, Graf & Sons was selling Goex for $14.99/lb. $25.00 Haz fee per order.
  24. Let me get this straight … we have a health care law written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn’t understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it but exempts themselves from it, signed by a president that also hasn’t read it and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that’s broke? What the heck could possibly go wrong? From the Beaufort, SC Tribune
  25. Try Ken Null at K.L. Null Holsters Home Page. I had him custom make a belt holster in horsehide for my CZ 75D and had it within a week. For IWB look at his UNS model.
