NFA processing has been suspended
cannoncocker replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
"I ask once again, is there some law that was passed that backs this up?" No, and the BATFE doesn't need one. Go here: http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/uscongress/a/fedregulations.htm -

No, the law isn't being changed. The regulations or directives which implement the enforcement of the National Firearms Act are. The proposed changes to the regulations were published in the Federal Register on 9 September. The period for public comments expires on 9 December. -

Custom Leather Crossdraw Holster?

Take a look at the Simply Rugged Cuda. It may ride too high for you, but at $60.00 it is a heck of a value. -

The NFA Branch is currently approving applications submitted late January-early February. -
Look at item #17 on your parts list. If you want to see how it works, remove your slide and barrel. Using the tip of a ball point pen try (at the firing pin stop) to push the firing pin forward. You can't. Now try it while depressing the firing pin block located on the underside of the rear of the slide. You need to know this if you ever decide to remove your firing pin for cleaning. You will not get it back without depressing the firing pin block.

From the P238 manual: 2.1.2 Principal Features The single action only trigger, in combination with the thumb safety, ensures safe carrying of the weapon and provides instant readiness when needed. The automatic firing pin safety blocks the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled. The hammer safety intercept notch prevents the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled.

The Sig P238/938 has a firing pin block. As such, it is just as safe to carry condition 2 as a Series 80 Colt.

We pulled 5,000 lb M101A1 105mm howitzers with the B model of that truck.

Savage Model 10, 11 series. You want the accutrigger, don't worry about the stock as you will probably dump it anyway. I bought a model 11 Hog Hunter with a 20" threaded barrel. Replaced the stock and bottom metal to accept AICS detachable magazines. Makes a real nice poor man's scout rifle.

Best bang for the buck = Savage.

Hunting Pistol Optics...Red Dot or Crosshairs?
cannoncocker replied to Sidewinder's topic in Handguns
I do not recommend a handgun scope for your application. A decent handgun scope is not inexpensive. Further, they have (depending on magnification) an optimum eye relief of 10-25 inches. Unless shooting from a rest, obtaining optimum eye relief is not easily accomplished when shooting off hand with a 42 oz. pistol decorated with a 14 oz. scope. My choice would be a light weight red dot with no more than a 3 mil size dot. I like the Primary Arms Micro Dot which sells for around $80.00, weighs 4.5 oz and has a 3 mil dot. It is perfect for your Ruger. My eyes are the same vintage as yours and I have no problems using it on my .22 pistols out to 50 meters. Target acquisition is very quick, especially when shooting with both eyes open (something I cannot do with my Burris pistol scope). -
"then under that -Mark lll Target-." I would think Ruger owes you a scope base w/mounting hardware. Send them an email. I have always received replies in 24-48 hours.

I bought 3 new Ruger MK III's in the past 18 months. All 3 were drilled and tapped. Only the Mark III that was a target model came with a scope base and screws.
-
From the Mark III manual on Ruger's website. I don't believe the Hunter is considered a Target Model. You may wish to call Ruger and/or check the manual that came with your pistol. INSTRUCTIONS FOR ATTACHING THE SCOPE BASE (Target Model Only) 1. Remove the filler screws from the top of the receiver. 2. Degrease the screw holes in the receiver. 3. Degrease the scope base screws. 4. After the degreased areas are dry, place a drop of blue LOCTITE adhesive/sealant or equivalent to the scope base screws. 5. Set the scope base on the receiver with the side notch aligned with the ejection port of the receiver. 6. Install the scope base screws and tighten. 7. Set the assembled pistol aside overnight to allow the adhesive to set up. I

As I understand the law, the property must be properly posted in order to be charged. If not posted, you may legally enter the property until verbally told to leave. If you refuse to leave, you may be charged.

Try both. IMO, you will find reasons to shop at each. Costco has less of a selection in many areas, but higher quality overall. Both have great steaks, but Sam's cuts them the way I like them (thick). My prescriptions are cheaper at Costco. Cookies are tastier from Costco. Sam's Club has a better selection of men's clothing and life sustaining cheese cake. Take Dolomite's suggestion, try them both with a gift card. I did, and have memberships at Sam's and Costco.

Anyone familiar with pop up campers??
cannoncocker replied to maroonandwhite's topic in General Chat
I have a Pop-Up and a Fifth wheel. The Pop-Up is for 2-3 day and solo trips, the fifth wheel for 2 weeks plus. I can set up the entire campsite by myself in less than 45 minutes. Two hours, if my wife is with me. Leveling is very important. A 24" to 30" carpenters level is essential equipment. Running your fridge out of plumb may result in poor cooling and could damage the heating unit that turns the ammonia liquid to gas. The easiest way to level your unit is with your tongue jack and one of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuxdJyMU2RY Level the trailer so the port rear corner is slightly low (use the port rear stabilizer for this). This will cause your A/C discharge to run away from your camper. Some folks use a clothespin to direct the flow/drip away from the canvas on the rear bed pull out. Breaking down in the rain builds character. Get out there and camp. You will enjoy yourself. I guarantee it. -
Ruger MKlll Hunter Stainless vs Polymer Frame
cannoncocker replied to Sidewinder's topic in Handguns
I have a Ruger 22/45 with a 4.5" TB and target sights (Model 10150). It makes a great suppressor platform. If you want a light weight suppressor host, go for a Browning Buck Mark and replace the barrel with a Tactical Solutions Pac-Lite 4" TB. Balances real well with a can. Both are very accurate. The Ruger, with the 4.5" barrel, makes a great field gun. -
I believe the new regs cannot go in effect until 90 days after publication in the Federal Register. Publication will be 9/19 (tomorrow).

You may wish to look at this place: http://www.bullhidebelts.com/USA-Handcrafted-Wallets_ep_136-1.html I have purchased belts and wallets from him in the past and have been very satisfied. I will say his prices have gone up in the last three years, however.
