Want a cheap tumbler, got a treadmill? A friend built a wood ladder to fit on his mill. Add the large Folger's coffee cans like Sam's carry with media and cases inside. He can tumble 7 cans at once. He's looking at you tube for wet tumbler ideas.

I have a Frankford Arsenal and Lyman Turbo. I use walnut media to clean the cases before they go to the press. Desert Blend from Petco does a great job and cheaper. For cases that are trimmed and sized I use corncob media to remove the lube. New media will take a hour or 2 to clean the cases. As it gets older it will take longer. I add spent dryer sheets to remove some of the black dust. I go about 5 years before dumping the old media in a flowerbed. Use the tumbler outdoors. I got a container of Tuff Nut once, ran the tumbler in my shop for about a month. I have red dust on everything.

In 2009 my dad sent me a few links. They were from all the big reloading sites. He said watch prices daily and cash in when a price is good. Midway had Wolf primers, they might be $28 per carton one day and whatever price the next day, or an hour later. December 14, 2009 I open my computer before heading to work. Midway had Wolf sp primers for $13.50 per carton, I ordered 5 sleeves. Wolf sr primers $14.75 per carton I ordered 5 sleeves. When I got home I checked again, they were $33 and $35. I got other good deals too. At that time we could spend a few hours at the range with very low cost in reloading.

Only fish I go for is crappie. For now they are in deep water. One spot I can fish from the bank in 27 foot of water. I put a 2 oz sinker on the line, don't tye it. 3 foot from the hook baited with a big minnow is a bead lined in place. Cast out to that spot, give it an extra 5 to 10 foot of line. Reel to click it closed, set the rod so the tip is close to the water. My rod holders might be 10 to 15 degrees. Watch the line not the rod tip. Any line movement reel it in. Most fish will strike, crappie won't.

DeepSouth replied to Magiccarpetrides's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Looking at an ad on another website earlier. 1,000 rounds of 223/556 ammo, make offer. I see a picture of 10 piles of rifle ammo. I ask, is this 223 or 556? Next reply, PM sent. Next reply, sold $1.25 per round. -
A couple of months ago I went to an auction. One seller had 1 box of 500 Thunderbolts 22LR. I looked it up online, $29.99, I was willing to go $20. A friend sent me a text, ammo and primers are gone from all the stores I've been to today. You see anything grab it for me and gave me a list. I won the bid at $22, he didn't get them.

I remember this thread after dad pointed it out to me, Neither of us were members at the time. Dad planned to join so he could get in contact with Canebreaker since he would be bring some supplies to the area. This thread had lots of pages, I think 12. Canebreaker agreed to a meeting to inspect what was up for sale. I remember reading his last post. "I inspected a lot of junk. The seller will be taking a lot of it with him. My mother fell and not excepted to live the night. I planned to get a room for the night. No, I drove from Southaven, MS to Harryman, TN and will do a return drive tonight." There were many post after that. Like he said he would buy it. I saw inspection first. Next thing I know he's removed from the site. I met Mr. Canebreaker April, 2019 at an auction. We talked about guns then about reloading. My dad left me a lot of information that was written that was greek to me. cases of ammo that were listed as like 2.5 gr Bullseye 110 gr LRN Win SPMP. I got a good education for the time I knew him. Mr Canebreaker lost his wife of 47 years to a heart attack in July 2019. We met a few times to do some reload teaching and I could tell it was taking a toll on him. December 27, 2019 I called him for a meeting. No, I've got a bug and can't figure out what it is. He is listed as the first Covid 19 death in MS.

In the late 80s I worked for Terminix in the Memphis area for 9 months. I never saw insulation under any house. I laid out a lot of vapor barrier under houses. It was 6 mil plastic, 4 ft x 200 ft rolls, 4 rolls per case. Let it lap over 6" and use nails to staple it together. I did my sisters house and she said she could feel the difference during the winter. My second wife wanted to spend our honey moon in Nashville. While there we visited a college friend. They were working on the crawl space. It was tall enough to stand in about a 3rd of the house. They had dug out to level the floor, trenched for water flow to the sump pumps. Laid down vapor barrier and covered it with crushed limestone. First time seeing insulation in the floor joist.,It was installed the right way. After wiring in lighting he wanted to staple insulation to the joist the wrong way and cover the joist. I talked him out of it. A couple of months later I passed a construction site where a large, tall metal building was on the way up. There was a large pile of 2" x 28" x 40" sheets of Styrofoam used in packing of the metal siding for shipping. I packed my truck with all I could carry. I read about it on the internet that night. It will breath were paper will not. It was carried to Nashville our last trip there. They cut the foam so it fit between the joist tight and painted the bottoms of the joist. The picture I was sent looked great.

Best Deals on .22 Long Rifle Ammo
DeepSouth replied to Luckyforward's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I was at Academy Sports the other day. Federal 1100 rd bucket 36 gr, 3.9 per shot. -
I printed this one. http://www.targetz.com/targetzlib/10141.pdf I carried the copy to work and printed off 100 from the copy machine on 8 1/2 X 11" white paper. I color the center with a red sharpie using a 3/4" washer as a guide. I carried a friend to the range and we shared a booth. Only one target paper per lane. Back to the copy machine to put 2 of these targets on a 11 X 14" sheet and printed 100. My grandson is in high school ROTC and they shoot air rifles at this target. http://www.mytargets.com/target22 circles x20.pdf So that they will be no difference of the target I printed and copied 100 for him to use at home.

At an auction the other night the seller had a case of Remington 22 LR ammo, 500 ct per box. He never ran it for auction. As the request section of the auction started I asked about them. He wants $20 per box. The auction company adds 10% onto all sales. So now that box will cost $22. I did a walk through at walmart, I don't shop there. They had 2 different boxes of Remington 22 LR , both are 550 ct boxes. Ones is $19.49 and the other is $19.97. Get to know prices before you head to an auction.

We would camp at Pickwick lake's Tail Race campground years ago. Catfishing from the bank wasn't very good. In the evening we'd hit the boils below the dam using a 3/4 oz red jighead with a 6" plastic shad. Cast out to the boil, let sink for a few seconds then raise the rod a bit. A stripe was usually on and the fun began if it was a big one. Longest I caught was 25 inches.

Good Supplier For Fully Prepped Brass
DeepSouth replied to billt's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
If you buy prepped cases to reload do you collect them after shooting, ship them off to be prepped again? -
"potatoes added to okra" Cut the potatoes like you would do fries, 1/4 to 1/2" square then cut them about 1/2" long. About half potatoes and half okra. Bread them with the okra. I use cornmeal, add a little salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder to the mix. Shake off some of the mix as you add them to the grease.

Good Supplier For Fully Prepped Brass
DeepSouth replied to billt's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I prep my own 223 cases, very little work involved. Prepping 556 cases to 223 is a lot more work. Just got a 5 gallon bucket of mixed 223/556 cases. Looking at head stamps now. So far very few 223 cases. -

Looks like an ad for MS Processed Brass dot com to me. -
First time to McIvor Shooting Facility 09/06/2019 had the pistol range to myself. Couldn't get any kind of pattern with my 40 sw. Did a bit better with my 9m. A little better with my 357. 38spl, there was no heart left in the target after 200 rounds. Guess I'm a 38spl wheel man. I saw a sign driving to the range, fresh produce. I stopped when leaving, everything was $1 per lb. by his scale I got 8 lbs of Mortgage lifter tomatoes. 12 lbs of okra, 8 lbs of yellow straight neck squash. At home potatoes were added to the okra for frying, onions were add to the squash for frying. A quart of purple hull peas and a pan of buttermilk cornbread

Dad made a single cylinder wet tumbler from a threadmill, very few notes left with it. A 6" PVC 22" long pipe with a cap at one and a screw on cap the the other., Fill cylinder with with brass, 5 lbs of pins, 2 Tsp Dawn, 1 tsp dishwasher dryer, fill with water. Didn't matter if I used Teflon tape or wet seal it leaked. Brass would have wet seal on them and some of the pins would be stuck in it. I replaced it with a rubber expansion plug. Max time for the threadmill is 150 minutes. Brass comes out looking great. Wash water goes into the flowerbeds, boxwoods and roses seem to like it along with rinse water. Rinse 2 times and spin to remove pins then back into the cylinder with 2 Tsp Nu Finish and filled with water. Set timer for 150 minutes. Spin and rinse 2 times to remove more pins. Garden plants don't need this water, dump in lawn. Then to a 10" pvc cylinder with screened windows with a fan behind the threadmill for cool air drying for 150 minutes. Added note, wash hands, apply a little Nu Finish to hands before handling brass. I had orange spots when I didn't. Inspect 380, 9m, 38spl, 357 and 223 brass before loading. Pins like ti hang in them.

One thing I remembered about my dad. He had a 30" shop fan blowing from behind him while casting. If we were indoor or outdoor shooting that fan was behind us.

Where do you buy your reloading supplies?
DeepSouth replied to enfield's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Lordy, looks like dad has me stocked for life. 12 jugs of rifle powder. 11 jugs of pistol powder plus 2 kegs of win 231. A few cases or small rifle primers and a few cases of small pistol primers. Buckets of bullets that will need to be lubed and sized. Boxes of copper bullets never opened. Not a 22 or shotshell in sight yet he had a few. A note taped to a jug said don't buy from Dennis. No clue who that may be. -
I got my disability retirement started, can't climb ladders, that was a major part of my job. My left arm is still weak. Been casting a lot of boolits and sinkers. Sell a few sinkers and jigheads to the locals, but no boolits. Haven't sized or lubed them yet. Been reading the old books and picked up a new one and printed off online load data. The old powder data is the same, just some new powders that aren't in the old books. I may never use them. Decapping and sizing a bucket of 9mm cases is the only action I've had with the press. I read dad's notes before starting. Tumble in walnut so not to damage dies. These were stained pretty bad. After sizing they went through a wet tumble with stainless steel pins. Air dried then into the tumbler with corncob and Nu Finish. A lot of desiccant packs with them in the bucket. McIvor Shooting Facility opened April 6, at Charles Ray Nix WMA west of Sardis, MS. I've been reading about it, can shoot all day for $15. Almost all day, Thur, Fri and Sun 12 to 6 and Sat 10 to 6. As close or closer than the ranges in W TN without having to drive through Memphis. Plus it's outdoor. May carry a couple of guns and some of these older reloads tomorrow.
