for-sale Winchester AA & Federal Target Shotgun Ammo - Sold Pending
DeepSouth replied to The Legion's topic in Gear Classifieds
Good deal, best I could do is take all the 2 3/4" shells. -
The dip at Harbor Freight is in a spray can. I could see that it would be thinner and a mess where I sprayed. Stop at Home Depot, got the dip in Yellow. Work slow down, carried my wife to ER for UTI and dizziness. They found low blood pressure and low red blood count. She got a transfusion and drugs. Seems to be doing better daily. I got to sleep all night for a change.

I use RemOil on my reels, half a drop is good on the pawl for a few days. Never noticed it getting gummy or a graphite film.

I found free bamboo in Oxford, MS on marketplace. Cut it when it's cooler. Need a few workers, trucks, trailers, chain saws, copper and or aluminum wire for bundling. Use the bamboo for lake habitat. Grenada lake has theirs in December. Enid has theirs the first Saturday of February. No word about Sardis, Butla is out as far as I know. Marketplace - Bamboo | Facebook

Remoil, SAE10W motor oil, 3M machine oil, all about the same to me.

West clinic visit went well, doctor liked results of blood test. Round 3 of chemo pills starts again for 2 weeks. CT with visit on 7/25.

I checked, the copper straps at Lowe's are copper clad for a few pennies less than copper at Home Depot. In the past I've done good soldering with an iron but not a torch with copper clad. I used the copper ones from Home Depot. Used a 1/2" wood dowel to spare the strap, then a 7/16" dowel for a tighter fit. Bent the 2 mounting tabs together. The oxygen regulator on my tanks is leaking, couldn't find my propane torch. Use a butane jet lighter instead. It's lower heat but did a pretty good job of soldering copper to brass. I stuck the 6 gauge wire through the mounting holes, folded and pressed them together. Soldered it to the strap so it doesn't swing. I've got to go to SuperLo today, stop at Harbor Freight for a can of rubber dip for handles. Got a few tools that need new dipped handles. Photos?? Send me you cell phone number and I'll send them to you. You can post if you like. I'm to old to learn how to post photos.

ad closed Taurus 85 or 605 / Heritage Roscoe
DeepSouth replied to Handsome Rob's topic in Firearms Classifieds
I shot a friend's 85 once and liked it. The 605 was $20 cheaper so I got it. It gets 38s reloads at the range and loaded with 357s at home and carry. -
I got a piece of 6 gauge wire. Plan to flatten 2" of the center, wrap the flat around a case and solder. 4 inches on each end will go into a wood broom handle. At Home Depot yesterday I almost bought these. May return today after chemo for them. Everbilt 1/2 in. Copper Tube Strap (5-Pack) C624HD12 - The Home Depot

Second round of chemo pills ended Thursday night. My fingers are still numb but not as bad as while taking the pills. First doctor visit after the congestive heart failure my heart was at 22%, below borderline for a pacemaker. I didn't want it and worked hard for 6 months getting it up to 48%. Lots of work and after 1 year it was up to 55%. The acid reflex as doctors called it, tumor, esophagus cancer, chemo infusions and having to care for my wife more this last visit showed my heart at 22% again. So the walking has started again. Since it's hot outdoors I walk stores pushing a shopping cart for an hour or more, may walk 2, sometimes 3 stores in a day. Someone said, get a treadmill, save going to stores. They don't last very long outdoors, even under a carport. I've had 3 free ones in the past 7 years.

Digital scales going super low are costly. I used the Lee scale measuring 72.91 grain 3 times, close enough. Poured them in an empty 410 shell, seated a 7/16" rod and marked it. poured shot into an empty drug bottle so storage. Wrapped tape on shell and marked it. Cut the shell on my new mini chop saw. Poured shot back into shell, level fill. I'm ready to start loading. But it needs a handle. Thinking of ways to make one.

Haven't located my digital scale yet. Went searching for a new one most have a reading of 00.0 pounds. walmart has them for $13 to $47. Sportsman's Warehouse has Hornaday with 00.00 lbs for $200. I need one lower, like 00.00000 or better. 3/8= 0.0234375, 7/16 oz= 0.02734375, 1/2 oz= 0.03125

Where do you buy your reloading supplies?
DeepSouth replied to enfield's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Been a while since I've been to Reloaders Bench. Dad bought a 22 lb keg of HP-38 for $10 about 2006, I'm still loading with it. I got a Lee Auto Prime for $14 in 2009. Last stop in 2013 with a friend. Can't remember what she bought. -
Got a heart doctor visit today. Need new parts for wife's oxygen machine. See if I can pick them up since I'll be close to the hospital. Need new cabin air filter for the car, may stop at walmart for one. Wish the one in the truck as easy to change, it's 12 years old, needs changing. After changing the heater core and filter I saw a video of how to cut a slot in the cabinet, wish I had seen it beforehand.

At Buck's I got a 48"X 3/8" dowel for $1.29, a 48"X 7/16" dowel for $1.79, minus 70% off. I have lots of 3" X 3/8" extensions a few longer too. I had 6- 8 and 10" extensions linked together to reach a bolt on the wife car 2 weeks ago. Don't want to damage them. Checked Lee dippers for a 7/16 and 1/2 oz shot load. No combinations will work. Guess I'll make a dipper from a spent casing, solder copper tubing to it for a handle. I've got 12 303/410 casings that would need trimmed short. Might have more after the next fire forming. 1/2 oz equals 218.75 grain. Limited to 110 grain on the Lee scale. 1/5th of 1/2 oz is 43.25 grain, 1/4th is 54.6875, 1/3rd is 72.9167. Hate to be measuring it out like that. Need to be searching for my electric scale, if wife would leave me alone long enough.

Got powder loaded into 88 cases last night, Bullseye using the Lee 039 dipper, added a 1/2" disc 1/4" thick. See which dipper will give me 7/16 to 1/2 oz shot. See if more wad is needed before setting over card with glue. Need to make a 3/8 and 7/16" push rod, 5/16" is to small for the wads.

Traveling the interstate through TN the rest areas had a $10 coupon for a Lodge 10" round skillet at So Pittsburg, TN. It was a second. We cashed in 4 coupons and brought home over $200 worth of seconds cookware. Don't see a name on 2 we have. One has King Cotton on the bottom and another has Grandma's corn bread recipe.

When cast iron had a heavy build up we'd build a large fire in the backyard and place the piece in the coals to cook. Adding more wood so cooking was done for hours, 3 or 4. A heavy scrubbing in hot soapy water then rinse. Into the oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes to remove all water. Let cool to touch and wipe inside and out with shortening. Looked new again.

Need recommendation for best tasting Tomatoes.
DeepSouth replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
"I’ve never heard of these varieties." Some you have to find in seed catalogs and start your own. One nursery offered free plants so we went. Buy anything and get free plants. I got a few of each, Bradley, Celebration 100 and Celebration 1,000. The 100's are a cherry tomato, the 1,000 are a tiny tomato, maybe 1/4 to 5/16" diameter. A cup added to a pan of cornbread is how we ate them mostly. I grew a few Super Boy tomatoes one year. They are a canning tomato. I saved one on the vine to get super red to try on a sandwich, every bite was crunch. They stay as large chunks in soup and chili. -
Wife is sick and doesn't like the house above 62 degrees. Thought about buying a portable unit for the living room. Got our old 12,000 BTU window unit from our son. Got it cleaned and checked out. Ready to hang in window as soon as I can clear space in front of it. Don't know where that stuff will go. I'm worn out.

Need recommendation for best tasting Tomatoes.
DeepSouth replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
Most of the tomatoes in stores are grown in greenhouses. None have any flavor. We have Grainger county, TN tomatoes in stores now along with a Ripley County, TN and another from south AR. All look great but no taste. Vendors at farmer markets will buy these and others from the local "Tomato House" near you for resale Look on facebook marketplace for local grown. Just enter tomato in the search window. Cherokee Purple, Black Krim, Rutgers, Delicious, Mortgage Lifter, AR traveler. Big Boy, Better Boy and a few others have good flavor if grown in dirt. True Beefsteaks look like growing in a ball, hard to get a good slice. I don't like the new flour and cornmeal mix. Can't find a loaf bread that doesn't smell or taste good. -
I started a thread on C dot C for a fall camp and fish weekend in October, Not many replies and those posted aren't very good. Gotmto thinking, if I tent camp it would be to much work for me. If I rent a cabin at half price for 5 days it would cut deep into my doctor and living bills. Think I'll watch to see if anyone wants a partner for a day trip during that time.
