  1. OP, look into hand loading 410 on Utube, there are lots of them. It can be done without a press. Might need to buy a few things you can't make like a crimper.
  2. I went to the auction house to pick up my stuff, searched Senatobia for 3 pawn shops, closed or moved. Went to Batesville, one pawn shop had closed. Batesville gun & pawn had a few 410's, a double in wood, pumps and semis in camo, starting price $550. I ate some of my lunch and gagged. The trip home wasn't fun. I didn't do the round trip to other cities or to Tupelo. Looked at a few more Utube videos on reloading shotshells. On one he was using a 1/8" pipe nipple for a decapping guide. Place it in the hull, put decapping pin in pipe and strike with hammer. I've broke a few pins in the past and saved them for later so I ground one down some. I used a 1/2" nut to sit the hull on and drove the spent primer into. Will look into making something else, let the primer flow into a catch pan or something. (Thinking: a 3/8 or 7/16" hole in a piece of 12 gauge metal and mount on a block of wood. Drill a 1/2" hole in the block, flare a piece of copper tubing and place in the hole before mounting the 12 gauge metal. Rubber or plastic tubing placed on the copper so spent primers will travel to a pan.) On one video he drilled a washer to the right size and used it as a sizing ring. Place the washer on the hull, sit the hull in a 3/8" nipple and strike the head stamp to drive it down. What size drill bit? On another video the guy used a Mec sizing ring for that job. Mec price $20 with shipping. I have a spiral sanding kit so I drilled a 3/8" washer a bit bigger. Used a new primed hull for the right size hole. Later I found out it a 12m drill bit, $10 on amazon. One can search for a cheaper deal but I'm good for now. I'd rather spend time making things I can use instead of buying them. Spend time being busy instead of watching tv or things I don't really care about. I do spend a lot of time on the laptop, about half is searching for things I want or can do. I got everything set up on my patio yesterday. A good patio chair. The worktable was a bucket with a stack of lumber on top. I decapped and sized 253 410 hulls in about 45 minutes. Will see how to remove the crimped necks without expanding them. I don't really want to cut them shorter.
  3. Great price Charlie16ga, wish I had $250.
  4. I've been watching a few Utube videos about hand loading 410 hulls without a press. One shows using a Mec sizing ring, $19.90, ebay $18.34. Another shows using a washer drilled to the right size, which drill bit? 15/16" .4688, 31/64" .4844, 1/2" .5000. No number or letter bits in between. I went to Harbor Freight and bought this. Cartridge and Spiral Abrasive, 10 Pack I used two 3/8" washers, a new 410 primed hull as a guide and my drill press. Sanded the hole until the hull slips into the washer.
  5. I got a late start so it was to Senatobia and Batesville. Senatobia doesn't have a pawn shop anymore. The Batesville gun & pawn had 6 410 shotguns, 1 double barrel in wood, the others were semi and pumps in plastic camo for a starting price of $600. Their shotshells started at $19 per box. Senatobia and Batesville walmarts had 410, #7 1/2, 2 1/2" for $16 per box.
  6. I wanted #9 shot but it's $60 per 25# bag. The #8 1/2 shot is $52, might as well order it for pick up at store. The #5 shot doesn't give the option to order online. Years ago I thought about reloading 12 and 20 gauge. Bass Pro had shot on sale for $15 so I bought a bag of #6. Now if I can remember where it's stored. Yesterday my son caught 2 king snakes near his garden and chicken coop and killed a copperhead. The young granddaughters walked the yard after school with the cricket. It's 8 acres, woods on the sides of a large clear backyard. Killed 2 copperheads and released the king snakes on 2 more. Said 1 had a fat belly a few hours later. Couldn't find the other. Big flea market at Tupelo, MS this weekend and grandson wants to go. Could shop New Albany on the way down. I hate crowds and the walking would do me in fast. He'd get tired of pushing the wheelchair after a while. Behind a Kroger I saw 3 handicap scooters. Most likely something wrong with them. Wonder how cheap I could buy one. They don't last long on a charge so a larger battery would be needed.
  7. Sportsman's warehouse and walmart seem to carry 12, 20, 28 ga all the time. 16 and 410 is mostly never in stock. Thank you for the websites, I'll check them out. I looked, not much that they offer. A bag of shot would be $84 shipped at Recob's. A MS member from a fishing website asked for my address. He had sold his 410 shotgun and had lots of reloading supplies. I received a box with a full gallon zip lock bag of spent 2 1/2" 410 hulls. A new bag of 250 and loose wads in the box. They filled a sandwich zip lock bag. The auction house raffles firearms since they don't have license to sell. I told one of the workers to bring a 410 to raffle. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Doesn't matter what kind of gun it is, seems everyone buys the $20 deal. Ammo doesn't go cheap. Aguila 22 LR 38 and 40 gr $6 per box of 50 at last 4 auctions. I see it online for $2.15 per box. Going to make a round trip today. Senatobia to the auction house to pick up stuff bought Tuesday night on zoom. Pawn shops in New Albany, Oxford and Batesville to see if a 410 3" single shot is in stock. Carry $100 cash for out the door sale.
  8. This thread has been pretty much copy and paste on a few websites. A member on a fishing site asked for my address, he sold his shotgun and has some reloading supplies in his way. I asked for a price, no, just want it out of my way. Tracking shows it will be delivered today. Talking with a worker at M&M Auctions yesterday, he saw a 410 at a New Albany, MS pawn shop for $125. She might let you have it for $100 if that's all the cash you carry. May get my grandson to make the road trip with me.
  9. First time seeing 410 ammo at walmart in ages it seems. There were 10 boxes of # 7 1/2 at my local walmart yesterday @ $16 per box.
  10. Watch CDVS.US and Miwall websites, seems to be best deals when in stock.
  11. Looking at Sportsman's Warehouse online they have 25# lead shot # 8 1/2 and #5 for $52, no place for an order for in store pick up. All others show $60 and have at store. Asking their help desk about it, waiting for reply. Looking at the store on last visit all I saw was #7 1/2 @ $60.
  12. Payday, I head to Sportsman's Warehouse online to order the Charles Daly 101 410 in walnut. I searched the website a few times not finding the shotgun. Filled out a form asking about it. Got a link with the shotgun on it, out of stock at the warehouse. Filled out a form to let me know when it was in stock. The waiting games has a new curve. Looking online at SW I find the Stevens 301 camo for $230 and the Stevens 301 Turkey camo for $218 as their cheapest. I want a walnut finish not camo. Wait some more.
  13. Guess Kroger is getting out of auto supplies. Got 24 quarts of oil for $3 per quart, some were oil and some synthetic, 0-20 to 10-50. The truck with 380K gets a blend of the different grades. Glad I'm able to do some of my repairs. While shopping I let the driver's window down it did nothing when pressing the button to close. Think it's the motor. I go to 3 local shops, their replacement was $420 to $575. Checked online, motor is $65, regulator with motor $85. Looked at Utube video replacement, all changed the regulator. Easy job finished in 3 hours. Now the passenger window is slow and stops before closing all the way. My grandson and I went to pull a part for items he needed. I got a list of trucks and locations for my parts wanted. All parts were the wrong color. I did get a windshield washer reservoir with motor for $19. Online motor is $59. I've been without it for 4 years, great to have it again.
  14. Miwall and CDVS.US seem to have the best prices. CCI and Magtech small pistol and rifle primers $36 per carton. Browning 410 #8, 2 1/2" $13 per box, $129 per case. Payday, time to place an order at Sportsman's Warehouse before paying bills.
  15. Try firing the primers a second time while it's still in the chamber. If they fire the primer isn't seated, you're driving the primer deeper into the pocket then it fires. I have that problem on my musket. Primers have different heights, Fed .117, CCI .118, Rem .119, Win .121. The CT doesn't take 2 hours. We started at 7:30 am when the door was opened. Check in, lab work, Sit in a small room after injection for an hour to relax then the CT. Was released at 9:25. Everything moved like organized clock work. Yesterday I got to West clinic at 10 am, lab work first. A visit with the doctor was next. I was given the printed report from Monday's Petz scan. "Negative study for metastasis" The cancer is pretty much cleared. I didn't have to take the infusion or wear the pump home. Return visit in 3 weeks. May go on a pill if needed. A stop at Sportsman's Warehouse for a carton of Cheddite 209 primers, Dang, they are moved from the shelves to the gun display. The $47.99 price is now $79.99. I'll be watching online for a better deal. We celebrated the end, we hope to the infusions by ordering dinner at Texas Roadhouse. The 200 410 primed hulls were delivered while I was gone. Dinner wasn't good for me, couldn't eat half of it.
  17. After the West clinic visit yesterday we stopped at Sportsman's Warehouse. I planned to get another carton of Cheddite 209 primers @ $47.99. Nope, now $79.99. I'll look online for a better deal. The 200 410 primed hulls were here when I got home.
  18. I've had everything needed to reload 30 Car. for 15 years and never loaded the first. Range brass keeps coming in, tumbled, polished and stored away. It's my son's gun and he doesn't fire it much. Try another primer. We have one 9mm that doesn't like Wolf and another that doesn't like Winchester. CCI and Federal work well in them.
  19. See if I can get there and check them out. Checking map search they are 33.5 miles 42 minutes away. McIvor gun range at Sardis, MS is 45.9 miles, 47 miles away. Can shoot lead bullets.
  20. I change mine in the driveway using a floor jack. Frame changed the long filter to a short one, AC filter is short and a few dollars cheaper. Checked ratings it's the same as Frame. I get my oil at the auction house, usually $3 to $4 per quart might get a gallon for $15, 5 qt jug for $20. Last time in walmart a 5 qt jug was $30. Get the oil drain pan at Dollar Tree. If it gets trashed you're out $1.25. I use them as large flowerpot saucers. I use their fuel treatment, 2 bottles per tank every 4 to 6 months.

The honey Stroopwafels are good the coffee leaves an after taste and heartburn like No-Doz. I was first at West clinic, finished sign in and called back for lab work. Return to waiting room and down with my son. Barely got my big A in the chair and called back to start Petz scan. Total time about 2 hours. Stopped for a breakfast biscuit before 10 am then headed to BPS to meet The Legend for a FTF deal.
  22. Double that price range and add more depending on the oil and filter used. Most places want to add an alignment or balance to tire rotation. Double or triple that price range. Some places have coupons that will save you a bit.
  23. Met The Legend today after Petz scan for a face to face deal. Now I'm ready to load a lot of 303 Britt brass to 410 brass.

My youngest son will drive me to the midtown clinic Monday morning. Plan to meet The Legend at BPS east Memphis at 10 am. May try to shop at Ollies before leaving that section of Memphis. My wife is out of ginger honey crystals for her tea, searched 16 stores before finding it at India Farmers Market on Stateline Rd Southaven. Bought her a tin of Earls grey tea at Home Goods in Olive Branch, first time seeing one. Every store I searched at I looked for Stroopwafels, bought all they had. All I've seen has caramel filling, found some with coffee and honey filling for a change.
