There is another store that I can't find, that is cheaper, and I will locate it eventually. In the meantime....... http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-TAURUS-TRACKER-COMBAT-GRIPS-AAA-ZEBRAWOOD-/322425688744?hash=item4b121192a8:g:LbYAAOSw3v5YpgYF

We had a nice one in the shop on consignment for 14 months. Owner wanted $2500, lowered to $2200 after six months, it never sold. Many people looked at it, wanted it, and had a lot of offers for $1500. Folks price them high, like you see on Gun Broker, but they rarely sell. Usually it's a collector looking for a specific one for his/her collection. I bought one for $1000 ten years ago, sold it at the Lebanon gun show last year for $1200. It sat there Friday and Saturday, and sold on Sunday to a man that looked at it on Friday. It's worth what someone will pay, as you know, but I would say top dollar is $1500 for fair price. I have been trading/collecting/selling guns for over 60 years. The only Python and Anaconda I see lately are priced high because people THINK they are so valuable, and when they can't sell at the high price.......say they'll just keep it....take their [ball and bat] and go home. For $1500 (and less) today, there are better guns in my opinion, like a Super Redhawk, 629 Stealth PC, Alaskan, etc. If I could get $1500 for the one in the picture above, I would be happy.

@DaveTN Disregarding which kit this is, here is a link to an APEX page with half a dozen great videos on it for the M&P, by Randy, Scott, etc. Click this link.....scroll down..... https://store.apextactical.com/WebDirect/Products/Details/192449

@DaveTN I would call Apex and tell them what you want the trigger to do. 623.322.0200 9am-1pm/2pm-4:30pm MST (AZ) They may surely suggest something you haven't thought of. Sometimes there is a wait-time on the phone, but every time I have sent e-mail it took several days for a reply. Randy Lee keeps a pretty tight reign on his phone people, they should be able to easily assist you. The only problem I have had with them (APEX) is lately a few things have been out of stock. I sure hope you get this up and running soon......before you decide to tie it behind your pickup and take a trip on the freeway. [to S&W CS]

@gunrunner32 I particularly like that 'cat hair activator' on the light. Special order?

Just a caution: If any of the powder is older, especially if it has been opened, always smell it before use. If it stinks or has a funny smell, discard it.......do not use it. Old loading books have a ton of info. New powders are simply that, new. Don't use old books (data) for new powders. New books have a lot of info also. Be safe, read a lot, then read a lot. Welcome, and since the first round is on you, I'll have a .327 federal......thank you.

I understand your frustration, been there more than once. I hope your 686 arrived today. The 60 is a great S&W.....seems like everybody is just rushing stuff through anymore.

I am curious as to what distances and how many rounds (each and total) you had to qualify with, and what percentage of body mass on your target. I haven't taught a class in 5+ yrs and just wondering if anything has changed. I know new rules are on the horizon, and all classes will be uniform in the state. Congratulations to you both.

Sorry, already beat you to it.....I've been hoarding it for decades, none left for you now. teehee

I know the thread is old...... I will put any of my RIA's up against any other 1911's I have, for reliability and accuracy [that's after you get ALL the shipping oil off them]

Silver Bullet Gun Oil [SBGO] One shot/one soul 13% pig fat I use it in a J. Dewey oil bottle for tight places I think Midnight Rider puts a ball bearing in it now, but I use a 40 grain projectile [or 83gr Berrys] to mix it as I shake it.

I have only had the one, but the kids have a few others. Haven't heard them cuss them, or rave about them. Here is a thought that popped in my head....if you consider the Phoenix. They make a deluxe range kit that has a 5" and a 3" barrel, regular 10shot and extended 10shot magazine, gun cleaning kit, carry case, etc. $200
-
The more you remove the original finish, the less the gun is worth. Oil them down well....with SBGO would be my choice. The trigger situation on the 1897 is probably just due to wear on the sear, a common finding on them. The OFM 500C is the only Model 500 I know of that came in 20ga [also available in 12ga]. The 500 was designed in 1960 and had a single action bar, but was changed to a dual action bar in 1970 when Remington's patent ran out.

I shot a Phoenix HP22 not long ago, and I didn't have any problems. 8 rounds, and I don't know what ammo. [It was one of the grandkids that said "Papa, shoot my new gun"] I've had a PT-22 for several years, and never had it function reliably that I can remember. I do need to go test it again, and take the Mosquito with it [another nice .22lr that isn't reliable] I will say this....the PT-22 is a sweet little single shot, and will easily fit in the pocket, any pocket, VERY comfortably. I really like it, and it also gets carried around the property, to the mailbox, etc. Very easy (and fast) to use as a single shot. [side note] I have a GSG 1911 .22lr [Birthday gift from the kids] that I put a CWA Performance Enhancement Kit on. It is 100% reliable with any ammo, but it is a full size 1911 5"bbl. I bought a Taurus M94 SS 5" in 2001. I have heard some problems with them a couple years ago, but never had a problem with mine. It is a plow mule, a mud wrestler, and super accurate. It doesn't care what you feed it, or how much, and performs the same whether it has just been cleaned or it's covered in soot. It has seen a lot of use, and is still as tight as when new. Only one con, and the Taurus M94 is notorious for it.......it has a really heavy hammer spring......no, I mean a REALLY heavy hammer spring. Two or three cylinders in single action, and your thumb is sensitive. Always planned on filing down the spur a little, but I cringe about grinding on guns [yeah, maybe not the same thing,eh?] I just deal with it, so have the kids. I have a couple friends that have replaced the spring with lighter ones, but they have had light strikes. I leave it as is, enjoy it, and don't go fixin' anything that ain't broke. Double action is ok, but the springs are so heavy it's not near as accurate.

$1400????? OUCH ! They were $800 new [S&W M632] I can see 'saying' I wouldn't sell mine for $1400, but I would never sell it at a rip like that......'cause I won't sell any of mine. Why not a new Ruger LCR .327fed, it seems like it would work great in your situation.

POS Dillon 550 about to get the 5lbs sledge hammer treatment
ozo replied to LagerHead's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I have had a couple 550B problems, always user error [unless it was a worn part from major use] I hope you were kidding about pissing in Dillon CS's wheaties, always had 100% positivity from them, what few times I have needed them. Before you buy any C4, I will give you $100 American cash, you send me all your Dillon, I will pay postage/shipping, and $50 extra to over-package/wrap it. C4 ain't cheap, allow me to help you out, eh? Just kiddin'......you don't seriously hate the 550B......it's impossible. -
I load for .327fed several times a week [spouse won't quit shooting them up......and ,er, me too] Still shoot/load for the .32H&Rmag for the younger grandkids Speaking of rifles/carbines, I want a Ruger 77/327

Could be worse........could be two of me.......eh?

I apologize......[but not really, guess I was being mean and leading into a trap] Forgive me?

The Gun Room/Range in Lebanon. Nice folks, clean restroom (ALWAYS), TV couch, range is SAFE and modern. [is this OK to post under the rules?]

Simple fix, just get a JR Roscoe holster. I carry some long revolvers/TC Contenders in one....regularly.

Very good suggestions above. I only recommend guns I have or did have. The Bersa Thunder is great, as is the Beretta Bobcat, Mark II, Bearcat [especially the Shopkeeper], and most of the other semi-autos mentioned above. The S&W AirLite M317 feels like junk to me, like I'm gonna break it.....or shoot it loose. graycrait mentioned the S&W Model 63 .......allow me to give you a huge warning on the S&W M63-5 SS 3"bbl .22lr DO NOT go hold/fondle/shoot one of these.......they suck...I mean they will suck you in 100% and you will never keep it far away from you. It may even be the force that makes you go hiking/camping......go plink some cans......against your normal will [or the spouse's] Best advice I can give you.....if you know a S&W M63-5 is anywhere near you......run, Forest, run !! [I keep one on my desk, loaded, and walk down to the mailbox at the road with it in my pocket if I don't have my EDC on]

Taurus made 2" and 3" M327 [605 frame] SS, blued, two-tone, even a ported 3" Charter Arms made a SS 3" (?) and still makes a 2"(?) in 32 H&Rmagnum S&W made three M632's, 3" SS and 3" Armornite (black) Magna-Ported, and a 2" SS fluted barrel hammerless Ruger made/makes several configurations , especially the SP101 3.14"bbl, but only has a snub now in the 1.87"bbl LCR hammerless [still have the SP101 4.1"bbl, 4.5"-5.5"-7.5" Single-Sevens Henry Rifles is releasing a Big Boy lever in .327fed in April.....two different barrel lengths
