And we thought it was crazy 10yrs ago..... Anyway, no posts here in 1.5yrs, just curious if any good news lately on components. Haven't bought primers since the last big shortage (2011-12?), 150bucks for case of 5000 Winchester SPP at Dave's in Lebanon. I would like to try some new powder(s) for 300BLK out of curiosity. Been loading the same powders/calibers for so long it's almost boring j/k . Only new caliber added in decades is the 300BLK , really like it, both quieted and loud. Might need some more SRM primers. Ya, there was a time, seems like not too long ago, S&W's [and Colts] were not much more (cost) than a great solid Ruger. We threw them around [trading, selling, etc.] like it would always remain as such. Glad I did keep the ones I did. With Elmer loads, we have shot out a couple Smith's ....never a Ruger, whether by chance or whatever, but still reality. My newer PC Smith's, like the XVR's, I doubt they will ever get shot loose.......but they are far more pricey than the older ones. I pretty much keep the Pythons, Anacondas, and older large bore Smiths for collection anymore, and reserve the beautiful bluing of the times to gaggle at. We shoot the big bore Rugers and XVRs without any worries. [and the MGM barrels for the Thompsons]

The .45colt is just so versatile......some folks even think they are weak, but they know not of what they speak, not from experience anyway. My favorites are still my Rugers, but I have a few barrels also for my TC Contender, and some carbines.

I can look at Ruger Single-Action's all day long.......or any Ruger revolvers.

I agree on the Federal .22lr , it sucks in almost all of my semi-auto .22's ........the Mark II's eat it, but they eat everything. I don't have the .22 x-change, but I do have the .45acp and the 9mm. They are great. I am a fan of the P250, and the SP2022. Bought a P320RX for the spouse, she likes it for the range, not so much for carry. She still prefers the S&W M632 for EDC. Don't wait another 3 months to shoot the 9mm x-change........you'll kick yourself if you do, eh?

I do love the fancy grips also, like stag or bone, real ivory of the old days, fancy wood from exotics, etc. Keeping with the thread [OP] I posted some of the dedicated hunting guns, and rubber is definitely the right tool for them, especially for the caliber(s) and the climate, for me anyway. One of my favorites is simply a pair of rosewood from a new Blackhawk [.327federal when they came out] and put on my Single-Six that I bought in 1956. It hung in the barn, in the leather holster it came with, for over 30yrs.......now has great patina, yet fires like it was new. I love the new/old contrast. Try some Nevr-Dull on it. I use it on the cylinder face of SS revolvers all the time to 'shiny' them back.

If you mean me, yes, I do like them [rubber], especially in the snow and rain. I had some beauty wood on the Alaskan [2nd one, 454 Casull] after I bought it, and almost lost it from my hand when I fired it in a heavy snowfall [bear].

If you mean the 'N',.......I was so looking forward to it's opening, which took forever. When it did, I was highly disappointed. Poor lighting, very primitive, no safety between the lanes, and gawd-awful echo. Pretty small too, but convenient for us, close to home. We shoot there about once a week or two. Used to shoot 2-3 times a week at The Gun Room. Eighteen miles each way. Really nice. Been friends with Stan and his parents for years. Probably start shooting at The Gun Room more. Seems like every time we leave the 'N' now.....I tell the wife we need to......since our ears are ringing from the echo.

I sorta never had a choice but to reload, all the men in my family did, and all I heard was "if you are gonna shoot it, make some bullets" (except for my own Sears single-shot 22lr ), but if I was gonna be a big boy, shoot Dad's and my uncle's big boy guns, I had to learn to load my own. I had my own bills, and my paper route barely covered them. Bicycle tires/tubes, .22 ammo, fishing stuff, pigeon food......paper boy's money only stretched so far. Of all the arms I have collected over the last 60+ years, and I love so many of them.......but if I had to pick just one most favorite and fun.... hands down it is my (over-priced) Ruger M77/357 all-weather carbine.
