Shooters Nation Episode 01: School Shootings. Should Armed Response Be Left To The Police? http://shootersnation.libsyn.com/shooters-nation-episode-01-school-shootings-should-armed-response-be-left-to-the-police BIG thanks to Randy Harris (@Cruel Hand Luke), Eddie Mickle (@molonlabetn), Gordon Revels (@Dolomite_supafly), and Mark Lancaster from Squared Away Customs for the time they spent with me recording this last night and the knowledge they shared. I had an absolute blast doing this and can't wait to do the next episode. Tell us what you think! I am submitting the podcast to iTunes now and will be submitting it to Stitcher this week. I'm told that it can take 7-10 days for the first podcast to be approved and picked up by iTunes, but subsequent episodes post a lot faster. In the meantime you can access the podcast and listen to it using the link at the top of this post. You will always find the latest episode released first on the Libsyn Page for Shooters Nation.

Had a GREAT time last night recording the first episode with a few familiar faces here on TGO and a friend from up in New Hampshire. @Dolomite_supafly and @molonlabetn joined me to have a good conversation with Randy Harris (@Cruel Hand Luke) and Mark Lancaster from Squared Away Customs about practical training for civilians and educators. It's a pretty timely conversation with recent tragic events in Marshall County, Kentucky and Parkland, Florida. I have several hours worth of work to do today to get it packaged up and turned into a podcast. I should have it posted for you all to listen to tonight! I really can't thank these guys enough for their time, enthusiasm and knowledge. Please show Randy and Mark some love. Randy is one of our resident firearms training instructors and hosts classes in the Chattanooga area very frequently. Mark is a heck of a good holster manufacturer at Squared Away Customs and has offered up a discount code "Shooters Nation" for you guys.

Thanks! I'll try hard to live up to that. I'm not sure if I am all that talented or just too dumb to stop. lol

New home for the Shooters Nation Podcast is up and live at http://shootersnation.libsyn.com/ That site is where it will feed into iTunes and Stitcher. Which means we're really darn close to having the groundwork laid for the show to be "syndicated" on Apple IOS, Android and PC platforms. If all goes to plan, the first real episode will be recorded tonight!!!

God bless you guys for that, too.

I already know what most of you think about CNN. Did you watch their Town Hall meeting last night (Thursday 2/21/2018) and, if so, what did you think? I am still searching for a video of the entire thing. Surely CNN has posted it or will but I am in a bit of a rush to get out the door this morning. In the meantime here is an article from CNN.com on the thing. I watched it from start to finish and have two pages of notes on a legal pad. I'll share my thoughts later. https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/21/politics/cnn-town-hall-florida-shooting/index.html

Yes that's what I had heard also. Mine is definitely a billet Gen 2 and has the star stamped on the left side.
-
No regrets yet but I probably have less than 300 rounds through it to-date. I keep reading horror stories online about the PSA trunions cracking and failing on their AKs but I haven't seen and evidence of that happening on mine yet.
-
Thanks! I was probably more nervous about posting that than I have been in a long while. It was like posting a picture of my kids and hoping that no one calls them ugly, but realizing that it's entirely a possibility that they will.

A draft copy of Episode 00 - The Prelude has been uploaded. This episode is only ~10 minutes long and it's just me. In it, I lay out out my vision for what I want the Shooters Nation Podcast to become and ask for a couple of things from you in return. On the next episode, I'll be joined by some friends - folks you probably recognize. Maybe some folks you've even heard of yet. Let me know what you think!
-
Or both. That's what I plan to do. I like to diversify.

That's a very smart thing to do. I wish more people would follow your lead. The best I can offer is what my own experiences with a product are or have been, and I really like the M2.0 pistols. A lot. So much that I don't even carry a Glock 19 these days and instead go for my M2.0 9mm Compact. It is very accurate and the grip just feels great to me. The trigger is good enough that I don't even find myself thinking about the trigger when I shoot it. To me, that's really when I know that I have a gun that I can use well: When I no longer think about the trigger. But like I said, it's really a subjective thing. It's so subject that I almost don't even want to talk about trigger "feel" when people ask about any gun unless we're going to talk about the quantifiable things like amount of take-up, pull weight and reset length. I hope it doesn't sound like I am annoyed, because I'm really not. I've just come to the point where I have had to admit that its no easier to describe all of the things that culminate in trigger "feel" than it is to describe to a blind person what a sunset looks like.

The feel of the trigger in the M2.0 is superior to the 1.0 in my experience. I still own a few 1.0's so it is easy for me to access either of them for a side by side comparison, and my impression still holds. But, if you want a Glock-like trigger - stick to your Glock. The M2.0 trigger is excellent but it's still somewhat different. Or, at the very least, try several of them before you buy one. Trigger "feel" is a purely subjective thing, and I really wouldn't want you to buy one because I or anyone else said it was improved, only for you to regret it and end up with more buyer's remorse. The funny thing to me is that my Gen 4 Glock 19 has more grit and twang in the trigger than the M2.0 and consequently feels worse. But again it's subjective, and I am looking for a different feel from the trigger than you might be.

Neither of my M2.0 feel like what you described for a bad trigger. But neither of them feel like a Glock either. If you want that, you want a Glock.

I mean I really don't know what else to say other than I've stopped listening to regular radio on my commute to and from work and sometimes even AT work, and just listen to podcasts now. It's pretty awesome not having to listen to a bunch of crap I don't care anything about.
-
Yep.

Thanks! I am going to lose my mind if I don't record a podcast this week. We've got so much to talk about right now. I agree with you on bad-sounding podcasts. I can control about 50% of that from the recording and processing side, but there's the other 50% that relies entirely on the connection between me and the other panelists and guests, and what they do to control noise and get good sound on their side. If and when we do some podcasts "in person" with some folks, I will be able to control it even better.

Huh. Try again. I edited the post to be sure it has the current link.

Just posted a second draft and updated the previous post.

Here's a sneak peak at the intro for the Shooters Nation podcast. Let me know what you think! Remember, we're going for a national audience here which is why we're doing it under the Shooters Nation name. I may do a periodic podcast under the TGO name just for you all, but podcasts really have to be done "at scale" in order to be worth the time and effort. Just posted a 2nd Draft...

Excellent post.

I don't understand this post.

This process has been a lot slower than I had hoped and that is entirely my fault. I have been covered up with other things, which is exactly the reason why we needed some new folks on the TGO Staff to help us keep momentum and keep things friendly and enjoyable. So without any further adieu, please welcome to the moderating team... @Chucktshoes @Grand Torino @CZ9MM @TripleGGG There may likely be more added soon but these gentlemen were gracious enough to volunteer and are now set up as moderators. I have more volunteers to sort through and hope to get that taken care of in the days ahead, so if you had tossed your hat in the ring don't give up yet. I really appreciate all of the interest that has been shown.

No better reason to uncork that bottle, for sure! Cheers!
