Let me know what you think. William, the retired SEAL who runs our safety program, is one of the sharpest guys I know on this subject. The safety protocols at our church are no joke. It's the first time that I've been able to go to church in a decade or two and feel like the folks charged with being vigilant and protecting the congregation have it under control and I can relax enough to focus on WHY I am at church.

Thanks! I'll be sure to pass both of those things along to her.

Thanks for the plug!

We had a recent conversation about the current state of affairs of the NRA and of course recorded it for you all. Listen here: https://www.shootersnation.com/podcast/0057-the-national-rifle-association-nra-dumpster-fire-part-one/

Lucky guess! I'm still on my first cup of coffee, so you can rest assured this will never happen again.

No idea what you're using this for but the blue wheel is a Geneva wheel which times an intermediate motion. Maybe you're using this to sequence an annealer or something?

Last night wasn't bad for us here. I hear that it was bad in plenty of other places, though. There's another squall line moving south into Kentucky from Missouri right now and it's supposed to hit the KY/TN line in about two hours.

Looks like we're about to get Round 2 of Mother Nature vs. Middle Tennessee tonight. The last round on Wednesday was bad enough. My family and I were driving home from Leiper's Fork to Thompson's Station when it hit and our 30 minute commute turned into a +2hr drive with a lot of re-routing, trees down, utility poles down, power lines down, roads flooded, etc. I've never been more grateful for a highly modified 4Runner than I was that night. Lights, winch, armor, HAM radio... we used it all. Folks west of Nashville are already getting this stuff tonight. Stay safe!

I don't think any of that really matters to these people. It didn't matter to them that the deceased was a criminal thug, either. They are propping him up as a victim. That whole culture dumbfounds me.

Sawmill blades headed to a new home....
TGO David replied to Grand Torino's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Photos do not do these knives justice! Thanks again, GT! -
I'd keep the Shield. That's what I did. Prices for them on the primary market are low enough right now that folks expect you to give them away on the secondary market. It's a good "mowing the yard" gun, or "washing the car", etc.

Benchmade's massive booth at NRAAM 2019 was never empty of attendees ogling their knives. I wanted to ask if anyone had been making dickish comments to them, but figured I also didn't want them to tell me I was the first to bring it up. While neither the NRA nor the average member are necessarily paragons of unwavering, uncompromising, support of the Second Amendment, the crowd seemed to have move on past the "cutting up of guns" unlike most of the Internet.

My buddy and podcast co-host, Mark, got his TX22 this week and loves it. He's not quick to heap undeserved praise on a gun, so this is a very strong endorsement from a guy who works in the industry and handles more different guns in a week than a lot of folks will see in several months.

That nitrided 416-R stainless steel is going to be fun to dimple. If you have access to a drill press, chock an end mill cutter of the appropriate size into it and use that to spot-face the dimples to get through the hardened layer. You'll eat up a bunch of regular drill bits otherwise.
-
I bought the SLR Rifleworks jig and used it to dimple the Ballistics Advantage barrel on my recent .300BLK build. I wouldn't trust using set screws without the barrel being dimpled. What's the brand and model of the barrel you are using?

It's really a favorite of mine now. I'd be interested in hearing what you think about it when you get your hands on one.

This gun is quickly becoming a favorite of mine for concealed carry... The factory trigger is NOT bad, but when I saw Scott Faulk @ Apex Tactical start talking about the shorter travel and reset with 5.5lb trigger weight of their flat-faced trigger, trigger bar, and sear kit... I knew I wanted to get my hands on one to sample for myself. I got the chance last week at the NRA Annual Meeting in Indy. Obviously, I was a fan. You definitely want to buy or borrow the Apex FN 509 trigger-pin jig if you are going to do this swap. It makes removing the trigger pin a piece of cake. The 509's sear design is fairly ingenious but has quite a few small parts. Apex thankfully has a few really good videos on disassembly and reassembly of the 509, so the job wasn't difficult at all. Just after I took this photo, I swapped the backstrap shown for the flat backstrap that comes with the 509 Midsize. Even better!

Current configuration... NEW: Arc Division SPARC-M mini comp. Prior to NRAAM, I stripped off the Primary Machine comp, replaced the Silencerco barrel with an Agency Arms barrel, and swapped the Surefire X300UA light for a smaller Streamlight TLR7 light. That was my carry gun for the entire week of NRAAM travels and 12+ hours of walking on the exhibit hall each day. I have a new slide coming for one of my other Glock 19's to spruce it up a little and make it ready for an RMR, so I decided to go ahead and trick this Gen 4 back out to full kit. The SPARC-M compensator is short enough that I can toss the TLR7 back on this gun and carry it in a much smaller holster, should I want to. I figure it'll stay like it is for home defense and maybe occasional carry when I know that I can get away with something a little bulkier.

New TN CC requirements pass house and senate
TGO David replied to Dustbuster's topic in General Chat
This is a very true statement. I've said before that I believe that we, as gun owners, are absolutely our own worst enemies. The other side is united under the banner of their hatred of guns and desire to see us disarmed. Everything else to them is academic. They don't care how it happens or what it looks like, and are usually satisfied with incremental wins. We, on the other hand, tend to be so anti-authoritarian that nothing but a perfect decision is palatable and none of us agree on the mechanics of any victory no matter how small. I think the biggest difference between the current generation of Constitutionalists and our Founding Fathers is that they tried hard to put the greater good before self. That's a shameful indictment of our modern mindset. -

Food for thought: Most anyone on TGO who feels that mandated proficiency is a violation of the Second Amendment is most likely already operating at a higher level of proficiency than the State's minimum requirement. Meaning, you might be viewing the requirement through the lens of being someone who feels that they are being condescended to by the government. -
Awesome!
