You will appreciate the fact that Springfield Armory has gotten tired enough of our jokes about this that they are firing back at people on Instagram.

It would be really interesting to hear what logic drove them to the XD when Glock practically owns the LE market and the S&W M&P is usually second on the podium with Sig still getting the occasional contract. If it has anything to do with the "grip safety" of the XD, it is going to speak volumes about the level of Fuddery inside that PD.

It's a crying shame that XDs and XD-S's never hold up well under hard use. I've personally had an XD Tactical fail on me in a 2-day defensive pistol class with less than a 500rd count for the entire two days. Aaron Cowan of Sage Dynamics has been tracking XD failures in his classes for a while now and way back in 2017 had already counted 20 failures in his classes. No telling how many he's seen since then, if he even allows them in his classes now. I'll pass.

White House Floats Background Check Ideas
TGO David replied to Garufa's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
What you guys are missing is that this doesn't put the burden of enforcing background checks on the venue hosting the gun show, or the print or online publication wherein a For Sale listing was placed. Those entities, much like TGO, aren't the ones doing the transacting. YOU guys are. YOU are the ones who will be viewed as operating in commercial capacities. Suppose you two randomly bump into each other at an Arby's fast food restaurant and somehow end up talking about guns. Dave says he likes guns, ChuckTShoes says he has one he'd like to sell, Dave says he'd love to buy it, and suddenly commerce occurs. The way your logic has been going in this thread, Arby's restaurant suddenly is in the commercial business of firearms sales and has to ensure that a background check occurs because you guys met on their property, formed a temporary relationship for the sake of commerce, and money changed hands. Absurd, right? Same as if happened here, on Armslist, on Gunbroker, or anywhere else. TGO isn't going to be expected to reclassify itself. YOU guys are. That's why we all need to be lighting our torches, sharpening our pitchforks, and telling our President and other elected representatives that we know where the hell to find them come election season if they allow this garbage to pass. -

Direct link to the Firearms Policy Coalition's brief on this matter... VERY much worth reading. https://d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net/firearmspolicycoalition/pages/5388/attachments/original/1568847447/2019-9-18-fpc-policy-memo-fed-idea-doc.pdf?1568847447 -

White House Floats Background Check Ideas
TGO David replied to Garufa's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I very much disagree. TGO isn't selling firearms. All we are doing is connecting people with each other, and the transactions of personally owned items that occur between individuals aren't commercial sales. If the government decides that an individual can no longer sell their privately owned firearm to a person other than a family member without it going through a background check, then the government has essentially made a step toward firearms becoming non-transferrable items which is a step toward banning them entirely. You folks need to be thinking about that pretty hard and burning up your representatives' phone lines when the sun rises Thursday. -
145 CEOs send letter demanding action to Congress
TGO David replied to MacGyver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Sometimes I think we should just post crazy ideas on the Internet to give them ideas, but then I snap out of it and realize they've probably already thought of it. -
So is anyone pre-panic buying yet?

I see a lot of Silicon Valley in that list. No surprise. -

I really can't disagree with any of the above. I understand the frustration, I can relate to it, and I get why it was said. It's a worthy gut-check. I think it could have been worded a little differently so as not to completely have turned the audience against you, @asu174. TGO in general has always been supportive of our local law enforcement because the local cops have proven to be pretty responsible folks. But I really don't believe there's a whole lot of "Tread harder, Daddy!" going on here even though you do see that happening pretty rampantly on social media these days. You made an excellent point about the clown in Ohio basically being a poster child for the crackdown on open carry in Wal-Mart stores. We've had our own local 2A-sshole [link] pull those stunts in the past to the detriment of the 2A community, and TGO didn't cut him any slack and certainly didn't criticize the police for their responses to his antics then.- 132 replies

Walmart to stop selling .223, 5.56 and handgun ammo
TGO David replied to hammerdrop99's topic in General Chat
If Wal-Mart really cared about the gun issue, they would remove all guns and all ammo from their stores. The modification of their inventory and sales policies and prohibition on open carry are just an effort to look like they are doing something without really doing anything of true consequence. What is truly troublesome is their foray into firearms politics as evidenced by the company's letter to the White House encouraging stronger background checks and a return to the Assault Weapons Ban. They need to stay in their lane. -
Benefactor Renewal Confusion - Improvements, Maybe?
TGO David replied to TGO David's topic in Feedback and Support
I saw two that were Expired but no option to renew. I just canceled them. Can you see if it lets you purchase a new one now? Sorry for the headache. This is going to let me know if there's still a problem with the logic in the way these invoices are processing, though. -
Benefactor Renewal Confusion - Improvements, Maybe?
TGO David replied to TGO David's topic in Feedback and Support
I sent an email to you earlier. I didn't see any in your account showing a renewal option available. Is the system saying that you can't purchase a new one and that you have to renew? -
Hey folks. My friend Doctor Sherman House is hosting the one and only Massad Ayoob next month in Brentwood, TN for the MAG20 "Armed Citizen’s Rules of Engagement" class. This class is could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for middle Tennesseans to take this class from Mas locally, and it is currently in danger of being cancelled if they cannot get enough students signed up. A mere $400 gets you a two-day, 20-hour immersion course in rules of engagement for armed law-abiding private citizens, emphasizing legal issues, tactical issues, and aftermath management. Topics will include interacting with suspects, witnesses, responding police officers…threat recognition and mind-set…management of social and psychological aftermath after having had to use lethal force in defense of self or others…and preparing beforehand for legal repercussions and minimizing exposure to them. Situations in the home, at the place of business, or “on the street” will all be covered. You can learn more, and register for the class, HERE... https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mag20-classroom-armed-citizens-rules-of-engagement-hosted-by-the-civilian-defender-tickets-55663034635 I asked Sherman how quickly folks need to commit in order to be sure that this class isn't cancelled and he said ASAP, so please don't delay.

Benefactor Renewal Confusion - Improvements, Maybe?
TGO David posted a topic in Feedback and Support
Good morning, TGO. I made some changes to the software that I hope will make it a lot less confusing for people when they graciously wish to continue supporting the site by renewing Benefactor memberships. Here's what has changed: As of now whenever a Benefactor membership expires the renewal invoice is valid for only 30 days. After that time it expires and members will be able to once again purchase a new Benefactor membership if they so desire. If an active renewal invoice exists for a member and they attempt to buy a new membership instead of renewing, an improved error message is shown with some helpful information and a link to where they can find their previous purchases. I hope that this makes things a lot easier on our Benefactor members. You guys truly are the lifeblood of TGO and I can't thank you enough for your support and, frankly, your patience working through what has been one of the worst parts of our software for several years now. I wish I'd thought to make these tweaks sooner. Please let me know if they make things better or worse? --David -
It depends on a very wide variety of things, including what your expectations are.

It has been known to be a bad omen.

There is a lot of truth to this. lol

Thanks for the plug. You can find the episode at the following link. When I mentioned that the head of our church safety team has spoken favorably of Agape Tactical, I might as well have added: After interviewing William for that episode of the podcast last year, my family and I started attending William's church. William runs a tight ship and the folks who do this every week are investing a lot of time and talent into the program. As you'll hear in the podcast, our approach is an "All Hazards Approach" and not a tactical Sunday school program. The focus is on keeping the people on campus safe from any and all threats to their safety whether they are weather, nature, medical, manmade, or human. Recently I started serving on the safety team as a way to give back to the community and do my part. I gave it a bit over a year of us being members before asking my wife if she was comfortable with what all of what that could mean. It's no longer a matter of me being my family's private security detail or their safety being my only concern. I'm glad she said yes. I hope we never have to test that commitment. https://www.shootersnation.com/podcast/017-church-safety-security-teams-with-us-navy-seal-william/

Walmart to stop selling .223, 5.56 and handgun ammo
TGO David replied to hammerdrop99's topic in General Chat
Maybe Wal-Mart's CEO needs to be asking why their stores draw so many criminals and criminal acts instead. https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-walmart-crime/ Walmart’s Out-of-Control Crime Problem Is Driving Police Crazy The retailer’s aggressive cost cutting has unintended consequences. -
HA! I appreciate that. It's really not how the cart system is supposed to work, though. If you change your mind, it's no big deal at all. I'm glad to return that to you. Just let me know.

It shouldn't have done that. Do you want one of those refunded?

Thanks for hanging in there and trying again!
