  1. Yes, it just slides off. It will also pinch the heel of your hand when you fire, as Hornet Handler discovered this past Sunday.
  2. Reportedly the magazines from the 21 won't work. Initial reports suggest that at the very least the new magazines are designed slightly differently to accommodate the ambidextrous magazine release. There might be other differences.
  3. Perhaps others will get a laugh out of this too. Some of them had me in tears. Mild language warning on a couple, just FYI.
  4. Glad to see you here! I had no idea that you were into guns as well.
  5. Wrong thread!!!
  6. We've got a few.
  7. There's an add-on for the forum software that does some of those things. I'll see about putting it in place here.
  8. It's fun to disengage reality for an hour and just enjoy the ride though.
  9. I don't watch much TV other than stuff on the History Channel or Fox News... but '24' has my attention every Monday night. Anyone else?
  10. In the past I've tried Federal Hydra-Shok (9mm and 40SW) and Cor-Bon (40SW) , but since I started carrying a 45acp sidearm I've switched to Speer Gold Dot in 195gr. What are the rest of you using and do you have any particular reason why you use it?
  11. Just some photos of the new Glock 21SF that was introduced at the Shotshow 2007 and is due to be released in March. One version will have the standard accessory rail and the second will have the picatinny accessory rail. Rumor has it that the US gov't is interested in the version with the picatinny rail. The 21SF will be .45acp just like the Model 21 and includes an ambidextrous mag release and 13rd magazine capacity. Basically Glock's answer to the Springfield XD45. Click the thumbnails for full-sized photos. I should note that I fully intend to own one of these once they are released.
  12. I'm afraid you're right about that. I will admit that I walked blindly through life until recently, thinking that I would only carry when I thought I might need it. Then it dawned on me that if I knew when I might need it, I'd be smart to avoid that time/place/situation in the first place. The fact is, we never know when we might need to protect ourselves from the wolves. It could happen to any of us, at any time, at any place. The first rule of surviving a gun fight is: BRING A GUN. That's why I carry all the time now. But I digress. Most folks with their permit probably very rarely carry. They've gone from being mere sheep to sheep with a false sense of security.
  13. It definitely sounds like a good start!
  14. The one I am looking at most seriously for our AR is a Viking brand. They have several versions, but I'm probably just going to go for the simple standard sling rather than the padded sling. The Remington 870 may end up with their padded sling down the road, however.
  15. Careful kicking a guy when he's down... sometimes he knows how to shoot while he's on his back too!
  16. Will disassemble and check the extractor and bolt. Thanks for the info!
  17. I stumbled across this earlier while searching for some shooting gloves. Thought perhaps others could benefit. http://www.safetyglassesusa.com/earplugs.html
  18. By way of an update... Hornet Handler and I visited the range yesterday an we tried out some Federal round nose ammo. Same problem occurred. It's definitely not the ammo, but rather the rifle. I will be calling Ruger today to speak to customer service and see about sending the rifle in for some service work.
  19. Just wondering if there are any features that other web communities have that you would like to see here. Right now I figure we have most of the basics covered with the forums, the photo gallery and the future addition of some databases to keep track of shooting ranges, prohibited carry locations, etc. But is there anything else that you'd like to see?
  20. Considering that she has a gun now and shoots better than I do most of the time...
  21. I have heard nothing but good things about Kramer's products, JDD. I'm still in search of a good carry holster for my Kimber 1911 so I might just have to take a look at his stuff while I'm shopping.
  22. Unfortunately it's easy for everyone else to Monday Morning Quarterback the decision if I opt not to go. That weekend is my 1st wedding anniversary. As much as I might enjoy the experience at Tactical Response, there comes a point when discretion is the better part of valor.
  23. Welcome! You've got good taste in firearms.
  24. Welcome! Glad to have you here with us.
  25. I'm not sure yet. I want to, but there are some other things happening that weekend as well.
