  1. This is a question that has been lingering in the back of my mind for quite some time now. Perhaps someone here can answer it. If a situation arises where you must use your handgun for self defense, will the police confiscate the handgun as evidence? Does it depend on whether or not the shooting was initially deemed to be justified self defense by the police? If the handgun is confiscated as evidence, what are the odds of you getting that handgun back after the investigation is over?
  2. Well, I just ordered five more 30rd mags for my AR. Might as well shop while the shopping is good.
  3. I'm very interested in the April FP course. Also interested in their upcoming (March?) FOF class as well.

    Back-up guns

Those pen-style clip things worry me on guns like the Keltec and Kahr that have no external safety devices whatsoever. At least on a Glock you have the trigger safety. Not so on those other guns. Anything that got against the trigger in your pocket or against the outside of your pants near the pocket could result in an accidental discharge. This has nothing to do with proper training and keeping your finger away from the trigger. It's purely about Murphy's Law and the fact that crap happens.
  5. A few years back I had a PM9. I loved that little gun. The trigger travel wasn't the greatest but it was very concealable. I sold it to a friend when I picked up a S&W 3913, but had I not replaced it with the Smith, I'd still have it in my possession.
  6. On Target in M'Boro had some free copies also.
  7. My M3X light stays at home, in the night stand. When my XD45 goes into the nightstand at bed time, the light goes onto it. When it comes out in the morning to go with me, the light comes off. I don't and wouldn't imagine I'd want to carry the gun with the light on it all the time. We all already try to find the most ergonomic means of carrying our sidearms concealed. Adding a light to the mix just reduces your options of comfortable carry even more, unless you're carrying openly. I have a Surefire G2 that I drop into a coat pocket if I'm going to be out and about at night.
  8. It took a while for it to happen (sorry!) but I just added the Events and Gatherings forum.
  9. Man, sorry to hear about that Reef.
  10. Um... Bronze is an alloy with copper in it. It's no wonder your patches keep coming out blue, the solvent is reacting to the brush itself. Several companies make stiff bristle nylon bore brushes. I'd use that with my copper solvent to scrub the bore.
  11. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3399997447270912268&q=burt+brady&hl=en Get out your tissues, folks. This is the way it ought to be!
  12. What are you guys using? Airsoft? Paintball? Some other form of simmunitions?
  13. You can rest assured that the anti-gun crowd will tout this as yet more "evidence" that guns need to be banned from society and the 2nd amendment struck from the books. I'm eagerly awaiting that speech from one of the resident flower children here at my office. She knows that I'm pro-gun and generally likes to use incidents like this to come joust with the windmill.
  14. I noticed that Matt Lauer pointedly referred to this as "gun violence" several times during this morning's episode of the Today show, and then lead into a report of another incident in Pennsylvania as "yet more gun violence". Agenda, much? PS: Stuff like this one more reason why I carry. I don't want my survival depending on the ability to hide in a closet, praying that the bad guy doesn't find me.
  15. If he has a Glock, he can fire underwater!
  16. Wow... I don't think that the author of that particular article could be any more anti-gun if he tried.
  17. I really wish Springfield would release an XD40 Compact similar to what they did with the XD45. It should have a standard 4" slide but have the shorter grip of the XD45 Compact. I think that would be a winner and I'd be all over it like white on rice. Glock's new 21SF really intrigues me too but I guess it doesn't count in this instance since they are reportedly going to production with it. What other guns do you wish the various manufacturers would make?
  18. Welcome!
  19. Those are the good ones!
  20. I just take my lumps and pay the 3% fee to use a credit card with those who allow it. Otherwise, money order.
  21. Who me? It was actually a problem with the forum "style" layout. I didn't notice it until you mentioned that.
  22. Hornet Handler told me that Bill Goodman's show was here in Nashville this weekend. I'd have liked to have gone, but it would have lead to me spending money.
  23. Yes, I used them to buy a SIG P226R a few years back and had great luck with them. I tend to browse them every other day or two, just looking to see what's out there.
  24. Yeah, that is normally a cookie issue. Do you have any antivirus or antispyware software running that might be deleting your cookies periodically?
  25. Sure haven't. I'm not sure that I really want to deviate much from stock on my carry gun, but if you do swap out to a DGR I'll eagerly await the range report.
