  1. Get the permit!!! There are too many instances where you could be found out, and being caught could result in you never being able to get your permit in the future and possibly forfeiting your gun ownership rights entirely. It's just not worth it.
  2. Razor, welcome! You're in luck; there are quite a few folks on here from the tri-cities area.
  3. Firefox is just about all I ever use anymore. There are a few things at work that we have to use IE for, but Firefox ix my primary browser.
  4. I paid $100 for my wife's class. $20 is a steal.
  5. I'm telling you, I made it through that video pretty good until they showed that one soldier get choked up at the end. That guy has seen God only knows what overseas; the kind of stuff that desensitizes most folks. When he choked up and couldn't talk, it did me in.

    S&W 1911

Back before I bought my Kimber, the guys at Franklin Gun Shop had recommended the S&W 1911s to me as an option. From what I have read, they are very good quality guns. I just still have a mental stigma about S&W because of the way that they caved to anti-gun groups in the 1990s under previous management. It's really hard for me to get excited about their products anymore.
  7. Welcome to the forum! It's always good to see new folks signing up.
  8. I love everything about my XD45 Compact except for the ammo price. If Springfield / HS Croatia would make an XD40 Compact (not sub) I would be all over it in a heartbeat.
  9. Oops... I missed your intro a few days ago. Sorry about that, and welcome to the forum!
  10. David, David here. Welcome and thanks for signing up!
  11. I use Hornady TAP 2¾" 00 buck in the Remington for home defense. The Remington 2¾" 00 buck is a cheap alternative for practice at the range. Fun stuff!
  12. Bought a couple boxes of 12ga 00 buck Remington tonight. Might have to go ventilate some paper this weekend.
  13. Hey Mike... glad you signed up over here!
  14. Welcome! Glad to see more new folks signing up.
  15. Has anyone said anything to you yet when you were taking pictures of the prohibition signs?
  16. We have a Remington 870 HD Express Magnum.
  17. I'd recommend none of the above. AVG Free Edition is much better. http://free.grisoft.com/
  18. That's a personal decision that only you can make. Factors that I'd consider were it me would be... How likely are they to search? How thoroughly do they search? How well do you conceal? How screwed would you be if they fired you, and for how long? My own thoughts are that they probably aren't very likely to randomly search your vehicle unless you foolishly tell co-workers that you've got a gun in your car. I don't think I'd let that fact slip no matter who the co-worker was or how well you thought you knew and could trust them. Bottom line is, trust no one.
  19. Thanks guys. I ordered 100rds each of 9mm and 45acp aluminum case CCI today. We'll see how our XDs like it, then order more if it cycles properly.
  20. This is a question that has been lingering in the back of my mind for quite some time now. Perhaps someone here can answer it. If a situation arises where you must use your handgun for self defense, will the police confiscate the handgun as evidence? Does it depend on whether or not the shooting was initially deemed to be justified self defense by the police? If the handgun is confiscated as evidence, what are the odds of you getting that handgun back after the investigation is over?
  21. Well, I just ordered five more 30rd mags for my AR. Might as well shop while the shopping is good.
  22. I'm very interested in the April FP course. Also interested in their upcoming (March?) FOF class as well.

    Back-up guns

Those pen-style clip things worry me on guns like the Keltec and Kahr that have no external safety devices whatsoever. At least on a Glock you have the trigger safety. Not so on those other guns. Anything that got against the trigger in your pocket or against the outside of your pants near the pocket could result in an accidental discharge. This has nothing to do with proper training and keeping your finger away from the trigger. It's purely about Murphy's Law and the fact that crap happens.
  24. A few years back I had a PM9. I loved that little gun. The trigger travel wasn't the greatest but it was very concealable. I sold it to a friend when I picked up a S&W 3913, but had I not replaced it with the Smith, I'd still have it in my possession.
  25. On Target in M'Boro had some free copies also.
