  1. What do you folks think about us adding a Review System here? It could be used for things as obvious as reviewing firearms, but also for things like holsters, cleaners and chemicals, sights and accessories, shooting ranges, etc. I've got a software package in mind for this and it's really nice.
  2. I'm really happy with the aluminum cased Blazer that I bought from Wideners last week. I'll be ordering more!
  3. I use Speer Gold Dot in my 45acp handguns.
  4. This is really making the rounds on the Internet right now. What do you guys think about it? I admit that I replied to the blog along with all of the others who are equally pissed off that "one of our own" has really stepped in it and given the anti-gun contingent invaluable ammo. http://outdoorlife.blogs.com/zumbo/2007/02/assault_rifles_.html Assault Rifles For Hunters? As I write this, I'm hunting coyotes in southeastern Wyoming with Eddie Stevenson, PR Manager for Remington Arms, Greg Dennison, who is senior research engineer for Remington, and several writers. We're testing Remington's brand new .17 cal Spitfire bullet on coyotes. I must be living in a vacuum. The guides on our hunt tell me that the use of AR and AK rifles have a rapidly growing following among hunters, especially prairie dog hunters. I had no clue. Only once in my life have I ever seen anyone using one of these firearms. I call them "assault" rifles, which may upset some people. Excuse me, maybe I'm a traditionalist, but I see no place for these weapons among our hunting fraternity. I'll go so far as to call them "terrorist" rifles. They tell me that some companies are producing assault rifles that are "tackdrivers." Sorry, folks, in my humble opinion, these things have no place in hunting. We don't need to be lumped into the group of people who terrorize the world with them, which is an obvious concern. I've always been comfortable with the statement that hunters don't use assault rifles. We've always been proud of our "sporting firearms." This really has me concerned. As hunters, we don't need the image of walking around the woods carrying one of these weapons. To most of the public, an assault rifle is a terrifying thing. Let's divorce ourselves from them. I say game departments should ban them from the praries and woods.
  5. I used some of that and some aluminum CCI yesterday. Good stuff for the range. The price is $10.50 per box of 50rds of the Blazer Brass at our local Wal-Mart.

    TN HB 2225

That was one of the most informative posts that I have seen on this subject matter... EVER. Thank you for taking the time to write it!!!
  7. I think the reason is more simple than that. With permit... You are a law abiding, legally armed citizen. Without permit... You are a criminal, breaking the law. Which do you want to be?

    TN HB 2225

You're right about Kentucky's statutes. I carried all the time to restaurants like Applebees, Logans, etc. with bars back home.
  9. Get the permit!!! There are too many instances where you could be found out, and being caught could result in you never being able to get your permit in the future and possibly forfeiting your gun ownership rights entirely. It's just not worth it.
  10. Razor, welcome! You're in luck; there are quite a few folks on here from the tri-cities area.
  11. Firefox is just about all I ever use anymore. There are a few things at work that we have to use IE for, but Firefox ix my primary browser.
  12. I paid $100 for my wife's class. $20 is a steal.
  13. I'm telling you, I made it through that video pretty good until they showed that one soldier get choked up at the end. That guy has seen God only knows what overseas; the kind of stuff that desensitizes most folks. When he choked up and couldn't talk, it did me in.

    S&W 1911

Back before I bought my Kimber, the guys at Franklin Gun Shop had recommended the S&W 1911s to me as an option. From what I have read, they are very good quality guns. I just still have a mental stigma about S&W because of the way that they caved to anti-gun groups in the 1990s under previous management. It's really hard for me to get excited about their products anymore.
  15. Welcome to the forum! It's always good to see new folks signing up.
  16. I love everything about my XD45 Compact except for the ammo price. If Springfield / HS Croatia would make an XD40 Compact (not sub) I would be all over it in a heartbeat.
  17. Oops... I missed your intro a few days ago. Sorry about that, and welcome to the forum!
  18. David, David here. Welcome and thanks for signing up!
  19. I use Hornady TAP 2¾" 00 buck in the Remington for home defense. The Remington 2¾" 00 buck is a cheap alternative for practice at the range. Fun stuff!
  20. Bought a couple boxes of 12ga 00 buck Remington tonight. Might have to go ventilate some paper this weekend.
  21. Hey Mike... glad you signed up over here!
  22. Welcome! Glad to see more new folks signing up.
  23. Has anyone said anything to you yet when you were taking pictures of the prohibition signs?
  24. We have a Remington 870 HD Express Magnum.
  25. I'd recommend none of the above. AVG Free Edition is much better. http://free.grisoft.com/
