Congrats! Carry often, apply sparingly!

I shoot rifles left handed, but handguns typically right handed. I'm probably 90% with my left hand on handguns.

Welcome! Glad to see new folks signing up.

I'd heard that Springfield was trying to engineer a sub-compact XD45 but was having problems with the 3" bbl length. Did they finally overcome that obstacle?
-
Based on your statements thus far, I think you would be happiest with the XD9 Subcompact.

My recommendation is C-Products mags with Magpul no-tilt followers. I recently bought five of them from www.wideners.com and paid about $12 each. Mine were coated with the black Mar-Lube finish and had chrome steel springs.

You guys are wonderful! I purchased the review system earlier today and have installed it and am in the process of configuring it now. I'll unveil it later this evening or tomorrow if all goes well.

I think it's an interesting piece. The fact that it puts 9mm lead downrange with reliability is a plus.

Keith, the Bob Pope gun show is this upcoming Fri, Sat and Sun at the Williamson County Ag Expo. You might want to hold off buying for a few days and go visit the show. I saw several G30's at the last one and the prices were decent.

We're already really close to having the money to do this. The software is $99 to purchase and we've got $90 in the coffer.

Kydex is malleable with very low heat. I recently "tweaked" the CTAC holster that I purchased for my Kimber 1911 by heating it very briefly with a low-tech lighter. This allowed me to better form the trigger guard retention area to my specific gun and provide a more positive "click" when the gun is inserted. Some folks just lay a sheet of kydex onto a cookie sheet and briefly warm it up in their oven. Others use heat guns. Smart folks use a dummy training pistol for the form.

Hide the women and children!!!

Greatly appreciated!

No, if you go through the automated system (link in the first post or click the Benefactor icon beneath my own avatar) then it handles every bit of it for you.

You can actually do it through PayPal without setting up a PayPal account. But I'll be adding some alternative payment methods also.

I look forward to hearing your range report.

Years ago I had a Baby Eagle 40SW ... which was basically a CZ clone. I've always thought that the CZ75 design was one of the most ergonomic out there. In fact, the XD's own handgrip reminds me greatly of the CZ.

Whatever you do, don't drop it in the woods!!!

Have you tried a 40SW XD Service yet? I have an XD9 Service myself but often wish it was the 40SW instead. The ammo isn't that much more expensive than the 9mm and the slight increase in recoil isn't even worth noting in my opinion.

I am too. He's already looking at the requirements that I gave him and is going to try to draft something up. This guy is good...really good. I'm sure it will be a very useful feature if he's able to put it together for us.

I bet he thinks twice before posting any garbage like this again. -
Jim Zumbo's comments about "Terrorist Rifles"

I would imagine due to the sheer server load that they were causing. When I tried to visit the blog entries earlier, it took several minutes just to download all of the comments. As an admin myself, I would have likely pulled them yesterday for that very reason. -
Here's a demo of the software. It's called Review Post and is written by the same folks who make our photo gallery software. http://www.visionmtb.com/forum/reviews/index.php That particular site is a community for mountain bikers. I think it's pretty easy to see how it could translate into a review system for firearms related goods and services. I'm thinking that we would likely have categories for: Firearms Accessories Ammunition Cleaners and Chemicals Shooting Ranges Training Classes etc What do you folks think?

Friends... Several folks have inquired privately as to whether they could help the cause by pitching some money our way to keep TGO afloat. My answer to this point has been that while I appreciated their offer of generosity, I wanted to see if this community could thrive before accepting any sort of donation. The good news is that TGO seems to be thriving nicely. I had suspected that there was a niche that needed to be filled and from all indications so far, I was right. Tennessee's gun owners were indeed looking for a place to gather together online and discuss the issues that are near and dear to our hearts. I'm very happy to be able to provide this forum as a service to our community! As I write this, I cannot foresee any signs that TGO could not continue operating without any outside assistance for the near future. I own the server that this site is hosted on, and our connection to the Internet is stable and affordable. Our operating expenses to this point have been very low. However, there are some new features that I would like to see added as we move forward and some of them will require money. Life is funny that way I guess. We have kicked around the idea of buying software to allow our members access to a "Reviews" system for sharing their report cards on everything from firearms, ammo, supplies, accessories and even gun shops and shooting ranges. This software will cost us $99 to purchase. We also have plans to implement databases for prohibited carry locations in the state of Tennessee and for shooting ranges. I'm not much of a programmer, so I've asked a friend who is to give it a look and get back to me with a quote for building that for us. I'm not sure what he will charge, if anything, but I would like to be able to compensate him for his time and talent. So, in light of all of this... I have decided to implement a "Benefactor" system whereby members who desire to do so may make donations to a general fund which will be used for doing the above and much more in the future. Being a benefactor is entirely optional. It is not required and will never be required for membership here. It is simply a way for folks who feel compelled to help out can do so. In exchange for their generosity, a benefactor will be be given public credit for their kindness by having a special benefactor icon listed in their user profile. It may seem a little cheesy but it's the least we could do. Benefactors will also receive more storage space in our photo gallery. More perks will be added as we think them up. If you're interested in helping, you can visit the Paid Subscriptions portion of the user control panel and go from there. Right now we only accept PayPal but other choices may be added in the future.
