  1. How about a feature that lets you rate the offens.... just kidding.
  2. As soon as Meprolight releases the new model for the XD45, I'll be adding them to mine. The model # that is available for the XD right now doesn't work right with the 45acp guns. The rear sight dots are a little low.
  3. I have heard that the Carhartt leather belts make a good alternative to purpose-built gun belts. Thick leather.
  4. The only way I'd likely use my AR for home defense is "when the zombies come" And I agree completely with the idea of a shotgun for home defense, though I am sure there are some juries that wouldn't like the look of my bone stock Remington 870 HD either.
  5. Waynesan, do you mind giving sort of a transcript of how your conversation with your Rep went? Perhaps how you brought up those particular bills and what was said?
  6. Following that logic, any left-handed shooter is just fundamentally screwed from the outset if they use a handgun designed for a right-handed person (i.e. mag release on the left side of the frame). The best prevention for dicking up any procedure under stress is practice, practice, practice.
  7. Bad news for you, Glock has reportedly stated that the 4th generation of their handguns will include the ambidextrous mag release. Frankly, I am surprised that anyone would think that the ambi release is a "dumb idea". Not only are there lefties in the world, but in a fight your right hand or arm could be injured or completely incapacitated. Being able to drop a mag "weak handed" without readjusting your grip on the gun would strike me as being a very good thing. It's no wonder that many other manufacturers have offered the ambi release for years now. The .45GAP flopped because it was an answer to a question that no one had really asked.
  8. I am very happy with the products and service from the folks at Comp-Tac.
  9. Check www.xdpistols.com for pricing. I have not used them yet but their price seem better than anywhere else that I've looked lately.
  10. The only thing that I dislike about the 45acp is the extra cost of ammunition. Other than that, the .010 increase in diameter looks formidable when you're staring down the wrong end of the barrel.
  11. Welcome! My grandfather used to make frequent trips to Oak Ridge for work, and I got to accompany him once or twice. Neat town with an even neater history.
  12. Congrats! Carry often, apply sparingly!
  13. I shoot rifles left handed, but handguns typically right handed. I'm probably 90% with my left hand on handguns.
  14. Welcome! Glad to see new folks signing up.
  15. I'd heard that Springfield was trying to engineer a sub-compact XD45 but was having problems with the 3" bbl length. Did they finally overcome that obstacle?
  16. Based on your statements thus far, I think you would be happiest with the XD9 Subcompact.
  17. My recommendation is C-Products mags with Magpul no-tilt followers. I recently bought five of them from www.wideners.com and paid about $12 each. Mine were coated with the black Mar-Lube finish and had chrome steel springs.
  18. You guys are wonderful! I purchased the review system earlier today and have installed it and am in the process of configuring it now. I'll unveil it later this evening or tomorrow if all goes well.
  19. I think it's an interesting piece. The fact that it puts 9mm lead downrange with reliability is a plus.
  20. Keith, the Bob Pope gun show is this upcoming Fri, Sat and Sun at the Williamson County Ag Expo. You might want to hold off buying for a few days and go visit the show. I saw several G30's at the last one and the prices were decent.
  21. We're already really close to having the money to do this. The software is $99 to purchase and we've got $90 in the coffer.

    Me too. Sort of.
  23. Kydex is malleable with very low heat. I recently "tweaked" the CTAC holster that I purchased for my Kimber 1911 by heating it very briefly with a low-tech lighter. This allowed me to better form the trigger guard retention area to my specific gun and provide a more positive "click" when the gun is inserted. Some folks just lay a sheet of kydex onto a cookie sheet and briefly warm it up in their oven. Others use heat guns. Smart folks use a dummy training pistol for the form.
  24. Hide the women and children!!!
  25. Greatly appreciated!
