TNCDL - Tennessee Citizens' Defense League
TGO David replied to molonlabetn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It would be great if TFA and TGO could somehow work together to improve the impact of both groups. -
That's a bold faced lie. Tower doesn't change his shorts. Ever. That's how he sticks to the towers he climbs.

Someone send that guy a link to TGO. -
The sear deactivation lever is actually designed so that when you put a mag back into the gun, the act of inserting the mag will push the lever back into the grip frame. If it was mangled, someone did something really, really wrong. The good news is that S&W will likely replace it under warranty.

Welcome, Mike. I'm a sucker for the 1911s myself. Nothing wrong with a gun that has a proven 100 year history of removing the right people from the gene pool!

Welcome and glad to have you here with us!

I'm some of you have already seen that but it's pretty funny the second (or third) time around too.

What it means to me is that our founding fathers would be pissed if they saw what the Government "of the People by the People" has become over the past 200 years. Edit... Molonlabe beat me to the punch!

They're supposed to, but the store in Donnelson was out; I stopped by there today. I did end up ordering a set from them and it should be here sometime soon. I just got a little impatient.

Well, I added one of these to both my and my wife's compact M&P's this afternoon and added a new HiViz green fiber optic front sight to my full size M&P 40. Really wish I had been able to find a brass punch set locally for that front sight. I buggered up the sight's base a little when I tapped it into the dovetail but hey... function over form! If I like it, I'll just order another later and replace it the right way. I remain really impressed with the 10-8 rear sights. I think the combination of the 10-8 rear sight and the HiViz front sight on the big gun will be a lot of fun at the firing range. That gun may see a lot of use if I get into IDPA and those sights should help make quick sight acquisition a breeze.

Everyone knows that it's because Glock owners just can't keep their fingers out of things!

On Target in M'Boro is presently charging annual range members $30 for the whole transfer process and I believe that includes the TBI check. To me, that is a perfect example of good customer service. These folks who charge a % of the sale price are sending a very clear message to the customer: We don't like it that you bought from someone else and we're going to punish you for it so that next time you just buy directly from us instead. Well, message received and understood! When you rape me on an incoming FFL transfer, I'll use someone else not only for that but for everything.

I liked my USP40 a lot. A whole lot. Until it came time to carry it concealed, then I didn't like it so much. I could have concealed a cinder block a little easier.

There's a gun shop nearby that does something similar in respect to % of sale price + fee. I don't do business with them as a result of that. I can understand that a guy has to make some money, but this is a service that really doesn't cost them anything. They have no overhead involved and only clerical work with filing the appropriate papers with the ATF and the State background check. I like to support the local gun shops too. I've done so quite a bit. But I am also not scared to look on the Internet and see if there is a better deal. My decision process generally goes like this: 1. Add cost of Internet gun + shipping + FFL fee + TBI background check. 2. Compare to cost of gun locally + tax + background check. 3. Are they within $50 of each other? 3a. If so, buy locally 3b. If not, buy from the Internet. If the local guy can't or won't compete for my business within reason, then I take my business elsewhere.

Congrats on the new firearm and on the training! We've got an XD9 4" and it's a fine weapon. I think you'll enjoy it.

I've got a few. Can you really ever have too many?

Boomhower found a page at the GlockFAQ that has a collection of targets that you can download and print off on your computer. These are all Adobe PDF files so you will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader program to view and print them. TARGETS: http://glockfaq.com/targets.htm In the past, I have used some of these and just glued them to larger pieces of cardboard to give them some rigidity. This makes it easier to run them down indoor range target trollies and makes them more resistant to flapping around in the wind outdoors. Thanks for the link, Boomhower!

I'm interested. PM me with what you want for it.

Welcome! Are you the guy that we handed a business card to the other day at Franklin Gun Shop?

Took my 13 year old son shooting tonight at the local indoor range. He has shot a .22LR at camp before and has shot my .223 and even my .30-06 rifles in the past but never shot a handgun. After we reviewed the basics of firearms safety and I showed him the pertinent information about how to properly handle a handgun, I worked with him on some dry firing exercises, how to use proper stance, use the sights, press (not pull!) the trigger, etc. I loaded one round into the full-size M&P 40 and he squared off with the target at 7 yds. First shot was dead center into the red zone. We proceeded to fire about 20 rounds, one at a time. After he was comfortable with the recoil of the gun and I was confident that he was doing fine, we moved to two rounds at a time in the magazine. By the end of the session with the 40, he was loading four rounds into the mag on his own, racking the slide, keeping his finger out of the trigger guard until time to shoot, and putting all four rounds into a decent grouping. He didn't shy away from trying the .45acp and commented that it did have a little more kick than the .40SW but that he was still ok with it. He manged to put all of his four .45acp rounds into a 4" diameter Shoot n See target at 15 yds. We topped the night off shooting the snot out of the Ruger 10/22 and clearing jams. I've really got to send that rifle off for service. I also really need to go ahead and buy a .22LR handgun. Anyway... I'm really proud of him. He did great! PS: Check out that grip style! He got it right instantly with me only showing him once. Thumbs forward, hands locked together, weak hand shoved up tightly beneath the trigger guard.

Of the ones lised, Tancredo. But I'm down with Thompson and J.C. Watts.

Are there any features that you'd like to see?

Give me an example of a reply that might take less than five characters and still be worth posting? One word replies like "Yes" or "No" can be cryptic if the person posting doesn't quote the original message. It's also pretty annoying when you see people post replies like " " And nothing else. -
Hang in there, man. Bump!

I don't want to hear about power after learning what you get to do at work.
