  1. Daewoo. They had (or have?) a pretty nice .223 rifle called a DR200 also. My brother bought one a few years back and I was pretty impressed with it as a cheaper alternative to the AR15 family. Used the same mags even. Edit... I found a picture of one: And here is their "Tri-Action" DH40 pistol...
  2. What I really want to know is, what value did the Tennessean think that they added to this article by making the public at large aware of data that is irrelevant to the scope of the article itself? That's the question that I will be posing to the author when I call them this morning.
  3. It's sensationalism. The Tennessean has proven countless times that it is willing to go to any end to splatter sensationalist garbage on their front page so long as it appears that they are out there working the beat to get YOU the news that YOU deserve. I wouldn't line the bottom of a bird cage with their pathetic rag.
  4. I just searched. I'm in there (of course) and thankfully it's just first name, middle name, last name and suffix being listed for anyone on file. If they had published my address or phone number, I'd be incredibly more pissed off than I am anyway. Being that this information is public domain, there's really not much that can be said or done about it. I think the biggest beef that the people in Virginia (wasn't it VA?) had was that their home addresses were being posted. Some of whom may have had relocated to avoid estranged spouses, jilted lovers, criminals or other such unsavory characters. If the Tennessean had done THAT, I'd be over at their offices right now hauling someone across a counter by their neck. PS: You can contact the author of the article: Contact Sheila Wissner at swissner@tennessean.com or at 259-8044.
  5. Very interesting. If Smith & Wesson doesn't satisfactorily resolve a minor problem we had with the M&P 9c (due back today) then we might have to investigate a P2000 9mm.

    Picked up an H&K

Can you give a feel for how big the P2000 is compared to say the XD40 Service, or the Glock 26?
  7. Never mind... I received my USPSA new member packet and official ID# in the mail today. Looks like I am official now.
  8. My thoughts: It's an anti-2nd Amendment article written by a person to whom traditional American values are alien, thinly veiled as an "I'm not making an opinion just yet ... but I really am" sort of column. Should be interesting to see what she writes next week.

  10. I open carried on my way to and from the USPSA match the other night, out of necessity. Does that count?
  11. Welcome! We've got a few Glock related threads here... most of them involving our pal Marswolf.
  12. I've got nothing against Glocks except for the unsupported chamber design and even that's not a big deal to someone like me who used 100% factory loads in my Glock 27 and Glock 23. I think anti-Glock sentiment can sometimes be summed up as the 2nd Amendment version of Ford vs Chevy.
  13. I'm usually pretty darn good with the M&P. This was my first time doing any sort of sustained fire with that particular 1911. I'd like to try it with the M&P next and see how I do. It's also the cheaper to practice with due to ammo expense.
  14. Are they shooting Sunday since it's also Mother's Day or are they just shooting on Saturday this time?
  15. I was issued a temporary pin with the USPSA but it has never worked. Someone at the meet on Friday night told me that there's a general login posted every month in the issue of Front Sight magazine. I haven't received my member packet yet alone the magazine yet. Would one of you other (fellow) USPSA members mind sending me a private message with this month's login? I'd like to see when scores are posted. Thanks
  16. I missed it, but it's nice to hear that they gave the 2nd Amendment a fair shake.
  17. What time does the match start on Saturday? If it's an early AM match then I'd like to see about going. I've got plans Saturday evening, though.
  18. Always good to see new folks joining us!
  19. Welcome! Someone posted the news about the burglary on your shop here about a week ago. Very sorry to hear that. Hopefully you will or have recovered from that quickly and things are moving ahead for you. Glad to have you with us!
  20. First of all I've got to thank Sean at On Target (M'boro) for not only putting these matches together but also for convincing me to bring my gun and be prepared to shoot rather than just be a spectator. He was right; I'd have kicked my own butt if I'd shown up and not shot. Second... WHAT A FREAKING BLAST!!!! I'm hooked. I didn't go with any preconceived notions about how good I hoped to be and stunk about as badly as I expected I would. Maybe a little better, but not much. I set the bar pretty low and managed to exceed my expectations. Last night was an unusual event from what I understand as (a.) they normally don't do this on Friday nights and (b.) they had a little latitude to mix things up and do some courses of fire that they might not usually get to do on Saturday morning events. I didn't get home until nearly 2:30am and was too jacked up on adrenaline and processing way too much information to get more than a little restless sleep. I shot with my Smith & Wesson 5-inch 1911 last night and surprisingly enough never had to dip past my fourth magazine in any COF. I had six on me at every COF. The gun continues to be way more accurate than the shooter, and I think it needs a good tactical rear sight like the 10-8 that I have on the M&P. I found myself distracted by the rear dots a lot. If I can get a couple more spare mags for the M&P 40 fullsize and two dual-mag holders for it, I'll switch to using that gun as soon as I can. I think I'd do a little better with it. Anyway, LOTS of fun. I can only go "UP" from here, and I look forward to doing it again soon and maybe sucking a little less next time!
  21. Allow me to say Welcome, first and foremost. It's very good to have you here with us and I look forward to seeing you participate as much as your time allows. If we ever have a middle TN get together, it'll be nice to meet you in person.
  22. Here is a site to check. It might have some information helpful to the cause, or might even be an organization to align with. http://concealedcampus.org/
  23. You can absolutely request signatures from the TGO member base. Just start a new thread mentioning the petition and describe exactly what the petition covers and what you hope to see accomplished by it. As long as the members have the ability to make an educated, informed decision, I see no problem at all with this.
  24. I am going to do this a little differently this time. I am going to post a screen shot of the full text of the alert and at the bottom of this post you will be able to download an Adobe Acrobat PDF document that includes links that you can click. This is just the easiest way for me to copy all of this and post it here for our members w/o having to reformat everything and make it look decent. There are some important issues addressed in this alert including the establishment of a "Castle Doctrine" for self defense in Tennessee, but a version of it that TFA director John Harris feels is flawed in some fairly significant areas. Everyone should take a look. Again, PDF is at the bottom. Download it if you want to be able to print this alert out and click the links. Click here to download the PDF version.
