  1. I don't know and I forgot to ask John Harris about this at the last meeting. I had read somewhere that there was a "safe harbor" provision that kept you from being charged for carrying illegally (only if the location made it a misdemeanor offense, not a felony) if you used the weapon in legitimate self defense. I do not know if that is true or not!!! <-- Disclaimer, very important! Now I can't even remember where I read it.
  2. Where was the first place you carried today?
  3. Here here! We all owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women not only serving today, but who have served in the past. All gave some; some gave all.
  4. That's definitely our goal.
  5. Well, if the rep was smart he or she would mark the email as "read" before deleting it so that this sort of thing wouldn't happen.
  6. I'd think that you better have a really damn good lawyer if you get into a confrontation with a police officer over pretty much anything. Beyond that, I'd say compliance is the best practice unless you feel that you are in serious fear for your life... and even then you're probably going to be up feces creek without a paddle. Just my cheerfully pessimistic view of things.
  7. Easy there... some people use the "preview" window in their email program to view an email without actually opening it. I do this all the time. If your representative did this and then deleted the email after previewing (reading) it, you might have gotten the report back that you did. Don't put any credit in those automatic email reports. They are often misleading.
  8. John Harris of the TFA has spoken about his own concerns regarding this new law. He too was worried about some of the open ended language used, and having read it myself now, I am also. This introduces several slippery slopes that did not exist under the previous law. This looks like something the DA would hang you with if you were carrying where you weren't supposed to (restaurant that serves beer, for example) and you had to use deadly force against someone who came in and started shooting the place up. It was my understanding that there was formerly a provision in the law that said a person in this situation wouldn't be convicted of carrying illegally if the shooting was deemed to be justifiable self defense. If that were the case, it would see that this law undoes that provision. Even if it were not the case, this law certainly gives the DA rope with which to hang you in that situation.
  9. PS: Just checked and they do have several Flexfit style hats in their catalog.
  10. Honestly I think once she has the logo digitized into her embroidery equipment, she can put the logo on whatever you want. So people don't have to order the same type of hats. If you want Flex-fit and she has it, done. That's the way she described it before.
  11. I've actually got a local shop that is willing to do hats, shirts, etc. with embroidered logos and will also do all order fulfillment for us. That's been the biggest headache with this sort of thing in the past. The logistics of taking orders, making sure we have everyone's size in stock, etc. was just way too much of a burden when I did it for another forum. Since that company is willing to do them on a piece by piece basis, it will make it a lot easier on me. Also, since I made the logo originally, I have all of the high-res versions of the logo. Let me pursue it this direction first and if it doesn't pan out, we'll check into other options. Thanks.
  12. You know, I wonder if the State prints the permits in batches or something. It seems that some folks get them in 30 days and others get them in 5-6 weeks. Maybe turnaround time depends somewhat on what day of the month you submit everything to them.
  13. It takes about 30 days on average. Welcome to the site!
  14. I admit, I've let this one fall through the cracks. Let me see what I can do.
  15. What I need is a place to practice USPSA stages. I'd love to have a place outdoors where I could set up targets and barricades and practice. Maybe one of these days I'll own a couple of acres of land outside the city limits somewhere.
  16. Thankfully the range I go to doesn't mind me practicing shooting from a draw so long as the range isn't crowded. I'd rather do this kind of target shooting any day versus seeing how many times you can put bullets through the same hole at 7, 15, 25 yds and the fear of reprisal should a holster be anywhere on your person at that time.
  17. Yep, that's me. Protect Your Nuts!
  18. Welcome, Adam.
  19. If you were local, I'd visit you in a heart beat.
  20. I think I shot with that guy the weekend before last. From what I have seen, IDPA looks like it may be a little more "practical" in scenario design and equipment stipulations. I'd like to give it a try sometime just for that reason. USPSA seems more like the "golf" of the shooting world... but I'm enjoying it so far.
  21. Awesome. My Oakleys are prescription with polycarbonate lenses, but they don't work very well on overcast days or when shooting indoors. My regular daily wear lenses are polycarbonate also, but they don't provide the sort of facial coverage that shooting glasses ought to. The good news is that prescription glasses like this fit under my health benefits here at work. So I can fudge a little and make them prescription shooting glasses if I so desire.
  22. Heck yes! Those have been on my wish list for a while now, for the same reason (prescription lenses). How long did it take for you to get yours?
