  1. Well, it was nice knowing you.
  2. I would imagine that Kevin will do any manner of customization that you want.
  3. Hey Josh... good to see you over here.
  4. Well... I'm thinking a compact or mid-sized automatic of some sort. 9mm, .40SW maybe? What have you shot and liked?
  5. Welcome! I too have both a Kimber Tac Pro (II) 1911 and an XD9.
  6. Disney is a great guy. I've known him for about 5 years now, going on 6, and he is seriously one of the only people I know who can insult you in such a funny way that you'll feel good about it and laugh your butt off the entire time. I know people who look forward to being insulted by him, he's that good at it.
  7. Ever seen the movie Super Troopers ? edit... that kinda looks like TowerClimber doesn't it?
  8. If a creep restrains your hands, you can fight with him and try to wrestle at least one hand free. That's also why I advocate carrying with a live round in the chamber. If you're in a fight for your life, will you really have time AND the faculties available to you to rack the slide? If a creep grabs a lady's purse and her gun is in that purse... even if it's still attached cross-body like a messenger bag by the strap... who has control of the gun? The rightful owner or the thug who has the purse in his hands, tugging and dragging with it? That's why I say if the gun is in the purse and the creep has your hands preoccupied... you're screwed. I'd rather the gun be on my person so that as soon as I could get a hand free, I could grab for it rather than having to THEN try to grab for my purse and re-engage that particular aspect of the physical struggle. I stand by my original statement.
  9. You'll poke yer eye out! Agreed. I would love to get a 22LR conversion for my 1911s. Maybe even one for the AR... but I do love the way it pops right now.
  10. I'd say two good things came of it. Next time this clerk sees someone legally carrying, maybe he'll think twice before making an ass of himself. If this was his first time ever doing it, he gets a free pass due to being ignorant of the way the law works. Now he's educated so he shouldn't repeat that mistake.
  11. I'd use the XD9. Sooner or later the crap finish that Springfield / HS puts on those guns will start to wear and you can get it done up by someone else in a much more resilient finish. 9mm = far cheaper to shoot at classes like this. I don't buy into the idea that you have to train exclusively with the gun or caliber that you're going to carry. I shoot the hell out of my .40SW and will shoot the hell out of my 9mm when it returns from Robar (unless I sell it and buy an M&P 9mm instead). But neither of those things screw me over when I take my 1911 out and shoot it. I'm just as accurate and somehow my brain still manages to find the safeties without any hesitation or problems. I'll wait for the pro's to flame me now... then politely tell them to STFU on the basis that my personal experience trumps their armchair pontification.
  12. How's it feel at roughly $0.75 per trigger squeeze?
  13. Hyder sounds like he was an upstanding member of society.
  14. I don't know and I forgot to ask John Harris about this at the last meeting. I had read somewhere that there was a "safe harbor" provision that kept you from being charged for carrying illegally (only if the location made it a misdemeanor offense, not a felony) if you used the weapon in legitimate self defense. I do not know if that is true or not!!! <-- Disclaimer, very important! Now I can't even remember where I read it.
  15. Where was the first place you carried today?
  16. Here here! We all owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women not only serving today, but who have served in the past. All gave some; some gave all.
  17. That's definitely our goal.
  18. Well, if the rep was smart he or she would mark the email as "read" before deleting it so that this sort of thing wouldn't happen.
  19. I'd think that you better have a really damn good lawyer if you get into a confrontation with a police officer over pretty much anything. Beyond that, I'd say compliance is the best practice unless you feel that you are in serious fear for your life... and even then you're probably going to be up feces creek without a paddle. Just my cheerfully pessimistic view of things.
