  1. Yep. Shot about 40 rounds through it today before deciding to try and make arrangements to take it home with it. I like it. My grouping wasn't great, but it was at least a grouping with the V3. I just need more time behind the trigger to get used to it. I've got to say, however, that as soon as my CTAC for the SIG P220 SAO comes in, the P2000 will probably only get carried when I feel that the HK's smaller size would be a better option. The 36 is single stack? Hmmm. I didn't know that. Now give it ambidextrous controls and I'll give it a closer look.
  2. I have owned two such pieces of "perfection" in the past. I'm not as opposed to them as it may seem, but I don't foresee owning another in the near future unless something really cool comes out with the Glock name stamped on the side of it. Like.. .a single stack polymer .45ACP of the same height and length of the G23. If they made that, I'd be all up on it.
  3. I would also say... please don't call Hero Gear to order anything yet. I just wanted everyone to know that this has not been forgotten about. It's just been a little slow in the making. As soon as Hero Gear is ready to accept orders, I'm sure they or I will post about it.
  4. Please see the first post in this thread for some updated news. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=29140&postcount=1
  5. Joe @ Hero Gear and I talked about this today. It looks like we have 7 definites and 15 maybes. I am going to run with a figure of 20 people showing up and base my efforts at planning this off of that. Sound good to everyone?
  6. Minor update... I traded the V2 (LEM) for a V3 (DA/SA) today. Dan @ Hero Gear was nice enough to take me to the nearby range to let me kick the tires a bit and see if I liked the V3 any better. I did. The trigger on the V3 is a lot more predictable to me. I realize that this boils down to both personal preference and training yourself to adjust to the LEM trigger, but the LEM didn't pass muster in the preference department and I guess I'm getting too set in my ways to make myself adjust to the LEM when another variant was far easier for me to use. I can't say enough good things about Hero Gear. They've taken care of me every time I've been in there and I've seen that they do the same for everyone who walks through the door. Thanks guys.
  7. I've carried into an airport before to pick someone up, but of course never attempted to carry beyond the metal detectors. I'd never leave mine locked in the car at Nashville International seeing how cars do get broken into from time to time.
  8. Heh... we aim to please. I've got a few that are hilarious but not suitable for posting here.
  9. I like it. It's a middle of the road theory that probably most closely approximates the truth of the thing. You should get into politics.
  10. It could be because they are changing the verbiage in the signs and were instructed to remove the old ones but haven't received the new ones yet. Or it could be a conspiracy to get you to carry onto Federal property.
  11. I'm out of town on Saturday but if there's nothing going on Friday evening I may try to stop by just to say hi to you, Frank. And look around some. It's fun just to go people-watching at gun shows.
  12. This is the kind of catastrophic failure that can happen in any gun. It is representative of what happens when you fire an overcharged round, whether it was overcharged by you or by the manufacturer. It can happen in Glocks, H&Ks, 1911s, revolvers, rifles and probably even a howitzer. With enough of an overdose of propellant, you can blow up just about anything. Anyway, that's why I put the thread in the Ammo Can forum rather than the handgun forum. It wasn't a firearm failure, it was an ammo failure. Or more exactly, a failure on the part of the person who loaded that ammo. Too much attention on the TV and not enough attention on the powder charge. I'm actually surprised at how well the XD contained the pressure.
  13. Welcome, neighbor. Fellow Smyrna-ite here as well.
  14. Devil's Advocate: Is it possible that these reports from the KPD (about the kid having a serious attitude with the cop in question) are being proliferated by the KPD to do some damage control? I don't know the kid. Never met him, probably never will. All I know is that he seems to have gotten rough handling from an overzealous LEO who apparently DID have an attitude about open carry, who threatened to find a reason to file charges against a legally armed citizen, and then who subsequently tried to side-step the issue by claiming that his former state of residence and employment didn't allow open carry -- a claim that we've also proven is untrue because that state DOES allow open carry. If I were the KPD public relations machine, I'd be telling my officers to talk up how much the citizen (kid) was an arrogant ass too. It makes you look a little less bad.
  15. I see your and the Rabbi's points on that. I guess I needed to go back and re-read the posts a little more closely. Oh, and may get replaced with a different graphic. I found one that's a little better.
  16. Reposting this from the XDTalk forums. Putting it in the Ammo Can forum here since it's a ammo related failure (over charged reloads) and not really a "gun failure" per se. Posted by: TylerSpilker Original Thread [link] Two weeks ago I bought a new Springfield Armory XD .45 ACP compact. I love this gun, it has been the most accurate, cleanly firing gun that I own. I hadn't had a jamming, or fail to fire problem with it yet. That was until tonight: Well, my stepdad and I got into reloading recently, and until we got our Dillon Square Deal we had been using a RCBS single stage press. I think the issue is that we had some of the old single-stage ammo left. I brought a box of it to the range today. I fired three rounds nicely into the target, and on the fourth, BOOM!!! My hand was bloodied, the mag fell to the ground. However, the mag is perfectly fine. I set the gun down, made sure I still had all of my parts (I did), then swore loudly since my frame had a large crack on it. And the other side bulged out: Here are some overall images: As you can see, the case was so pressurized, it actually flattened the case marking off of the back of the .45 round: Here is where I tell you, I still love this gun to pieces (no pun intended) After I got the barrel out, I noticed something: The barrel and slide are perfectly fine. After removing the damaged casing, there is no visible damage to the barrel at all, the most surprising of all was the state of the case: All of the pressure was directed out of the ONLY weak point in this barrel. My hand (and pride) is a little hurt because of this, however, this could have been much worse. I am very thankful that I bought this gun over a Glock 30 due to the shape the barrel was in, and the fact that I still have my hand. I will be calling Springfield on Monday and will see how I can be taken care of regarding this. I am assuming since it was a reload, and obviously our fault, that I will be stuck paying the bill, however, the extent of the damage is actually fairly minimal, and I would not be surprised if they just had to charge me with molding a new frame on my serial.
  17. I don't think the original poster is the author of that newspaper editorial. The author was a man by the name of Tony McKenna. Original poster is ChadW.
  18. I know who I'd rather look at for the next 4 years. And I'm not into dudes, so that narrows it down.
  19. Wilkommen.
  20. We're happy to have you with us. I'm glad to see that you chose to dive right in and start posting.
  21. Ah yes... someone made a call for the logo! Good show. I'm going to be working on it today. In fact, I may have one of the graphics designers here do it for me since he can produce a three color separation / vector graphic file that would be better suited for the uses of any embroidery shop. I'll post something as soon as I get it worked up, even if it's a rough draft.
  22. I'm not taking sides here because I like to think that we're all friends at some basic level... but I have to say this: I didn't see anything in Cruel Hand's posts that was seriously lacking in tact. It read like a no B.S., no punches pulled assessment of one man's feelings on the issues. I like it when I don't have to read between the lines with people and I didn't have to read between the lines with anything he said. While some of his points may not set well with all readers, I found the candor to be refreshing. Perhaps the reason you think he lacked tact and courtesy is because you didn't agree with him. Not because he was rude.
  23. Money can't buy exposure like that.
  24. I'm not sure this is the advertising I was looking for.
  25. Man... you guys sound like a bunch of... girls. "Does this hat make my butt look big?"
