  1. Joe's practicing his SF Ninja powers of misdirection and subterfuge. They're open on Saturday.
  2. Hmmm... so are we being toyed with or are they really closed on Saturday?
  3. But... but... I wanted to come in there and clear my Springfield XD while pointing it across the counter at you. That's what Saturdays are all about man!!!
  4. I am going to go down there again this Saturday most likely. If anyone else from the greater Nashville area wants to caravan or ride along, speak now or forever hold your piece [sic]. And you know what piece I mean, you whiners. There is no guarantee that there will be an after-visit shoot. There is also no guarantee that there won't be. Frankly, who knows!? There are several ranges on the way back from there! Holler, yo.
  5. We're glad you could join us. If you hang around long enough, GlockKing will have more firearms to sell. It's a given.
  6. Bob, you're lucky to have a facility as nice as Guns & Leather nearby. I've enjoyed shooting up there and Dennis and his crew have always been friendly and helpful. Glad to have you here with us.
  7. Charlie don't BBQ!
  8. Very good points. That change in the law's language was one of the things that John Harris (TFA) was pretty opposed to. This is a perfect example of why. We have now lost what was previously a "safe harbor" provision.
  9. These restaurants are supposed to post the typical state "Misdemeanor Offense" sign regarding carrying a firearms where alcohol is served, in clear view of the register. If beer wasn't advertised and wasn't on the menu, then I think you'd probably stand a pretty good chance of just being asked to leave by a LEO if you were made. I've inadvertently eaten at a few places that I later discovered served alcohol on premises as well. I wasn't made and no one was the wiser. I also didn't shoot anyone or get into a drunken brawl with another patron, so I guess those two schools of thought are flawed. My recommendation is that now that you know about those places, either no longer eat there while armed or be very discrete and carry on about your business. Doing the latter or the two is a decision you would have to make for yourself and obviously juxtaposes you with the letter of the law. Another reason why the current law SUCKS.
  10. So basically this is a rider on another NRA-affiliated insurance program, of which you have to be a customer first before you can get this added on. Interesting. And Kentucky's laws aren't that lax but I know what you mean. There are towns in Kentucky where a clean shoot on a "favorite son" will still get your ass buried under the court house, though. For the most part, Kentucky's laws on justifiable shootings are pretty similar to Tennessee's. The big advantage back in Kentucky for me is that I get to legally carry into an Applebees up there as long as I'm not drinking.
  11. I think I'll be investing in a Dillon progressive press this Christmas. It will pay for itself easily over time and will be an enjoyable way to get to know another aspect of this hobby.
  12. Oh man... Joe... is it too late to get the stuff done with COPY removed?!?
  13. Rock Island makes good entry level 1911s but I think there are better options out there for someone who is willing to spend a little more.
  14. The new SIG Revolution C3 has been calling to me lately. It's half the cost of the Nighthawk T3 which is also a Commander slide on an Officer frame. I would never replace my Kimber Pro CDP II with the SIG C3 but I would definitely let them sleep together in the safe. For me, the hardest part about concealing a Commander or Government size 1911 is the height of the grip. The butt of the grip is what prints against my clothing, thus I carry it IWB style around the appendix area. If I carry it at 3 o'clock it prints against polo and t-shirts with ease. The SIG C3 and the Nighthawk T3 remedy that problem by using the shorter Officer grip. All of that said... my biggest beef with the SIG 1911s is that they use an external extractor. Granted, all of the other SIG automatics use an external extractor also, but for some reason this reportedly causes problems on the 1911 platform that it doesn't cause on the P2xx series platform. So there you go. That's my opinion on the matter. Now, have you looked at the P220 Carry SAO yet? I have one and love it. It's a hair wider in the frame than a 1911, but it's otherwise dimensionally identical to a Commander length 1911. I think it's a more reliable gun out of the box than 99% of the 1911s out there and it's easily more accurate than I am capable of being.
  15. It's going to become required equipment on my back deck! If my range bag had MOLLE strips on it, you know I'd be right there with you.
  16. http://tacticalgrilling.com/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=32 Tactical Grilling Apron. This ROCKS. They even have a beer carrier for the MOLLE system!
  17. Working on it, yes. I'd leave the beer bottles for another range.
  18. Bad movie?
  19. You're off the hook and I can still claim to know you.
  20. Just because I still need to drop 20lbs and carried at Dunkin Donuts this past weekend, you don't have to get all personal on me. And I never liked Rambo much.
  21. If you're right about this movie title...
  22. I'd unload and separate the firearm from the ammo with both being in locked containers in those states. Paranoid, maybe. Covering my ass, you betcha. Especially if some local PD decided that the stereotype on musician types is true and that you guys might have some illegal substances on the bus. Search warrant from local Judge + guns improperly stored aboard a vehicle crossing jurisdictional lines = bad karma. I wouldn't chance it man.
