  1. Those are the questions that came to my mind as well.
  2. Pretty much getting bent over and run through a few times.
  3. RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) - The Saudi Arabian government will temporarily release 55 prisoners recently transferred from the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and will give each of them about $2,600 to celebrate the upcoming Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, a newspaper reported Saturday. Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz granted the temporary releases from detention centers in Saudi Arabia so the prisoners could spend time with their families during the holiday in mid-October, the Okaz newspaper reported. They will return to police custody after the holiday and will be referred to Saudi courts at end of this month for upcoming trials, the paper said. My Job

Sorry to hear this. As someone in the IT industry myself, the thought of losing my job scares the hell out of me. There are jobs out there, it just may take some creative beating the bush to find the good ones. Good luck!
  5. I can see where being able to reload under pressure is a critical skill. Hardware failures do happen and Murphy's Law always rears its ugly head at the worst possible time. For example, the new M&P automatics have well documented problems with a "mag drop" issue where the magazine will spontaneously and unexpectedly drop free of some handguns while the handgun is being fired. Smith & Wesson remedies this with an improved magazine catch retrofitted to older models on a case by case basis. New models reportedly don't have the issue due to evolutionary design improvements. A person should know what to do if their hardware fails for some reason and they should be able to do it under stress. Fortunately I think we can all agree that the only way to improve our odds of doing anything under stress is to hammer the response program into our brains and muscle memory through repeated training.
  6. I don't disagree with those as being needed abilities that someone should acquire very soon after deciding to go armed.
  7. I see. Well, I must fall into the category that everyone else in this thread has fallen into by discussing that other angle too. Basic gun skills that a person needs to have if they are going to carry: Alertness to their surroundings The will to survive The common sense to de-escalate when possible The ability to hit a man-sized target at 7 yds minimum* * - greater distances are gravy Is this post better?
  8. No, did you post something useful? I kid, I kid. Edit... Ok so I just went back and skimmed your posts. Where did you say something that would have lead you to believe that my post indicated a failure to comprehend your point? From what I've read, you have been arguing the probability of an armed citizen needing to know advanced gun handling skills. That's a fine point to argue, but I think you can distill the issue to an even simpler level which is what I tried to do. I believe that the theory of "creep" has merit. When the government gets involved in an issue and makes laws to address it, their influence and meddling eventually "creeps" into other areas that weren't intended to begin with. We need less government, not more.
  9. The State already has a capability certification as part of the Handgun Carry Permit process. It's called being able to get 30 of 50 shots into the black area of a B-27 target at a certain distance. Should re-certification be mandatory? Well, sure! But let's also make sure that we start requiring re-certification for Driver's Licenses as well. There are damn sure more people out there injuring and killing folks with cars every day than there are people killing folks with guns. Let's start the re-certification process where it would do the most good since any such routine re-cert process will carry a huge procedural overhead for the State to implement and enforce. Meanwhile, let's be socially responsible as HCP holders and gun owners, and encourage each other to strive to shoot better, shoot more accurately, and be more proficient with our weapon(s) of choice. We can remedy the lack of expertise on our own. We really don't need the State being our nanny.
  10. No worries... it was worth repeating!
  11. If Joe doesn't, I will take pictures and post them. Did he run FF hats with this batch? I can't remember.
  12. Nice firearm. Even if it is a Glock. j/k
  13. I know I posted this once before. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1584&highlight=cartoon Slightly bigger version.
  14. Walther-America is served through Smith & Wesson and it has been my experience that they are SUPER at taking care of the customer. By all means I would send the P22 back to them with a description of what is happening and see if they can make it right for you. The best part? They will pay for complete round-trip shipping.
  15. No, I've had some really bad things going on lately and just have not had the time to finish organizing it. It sounds like this upcoming weekend is a bust for the Hero Gear folks anyway because of business commitments that Joe has, but perhaps next. It would have to be an informal get together at this point because of what I've got on my plate right now.
  16. I would use a program like Google's free Picasa software to resize the photos on your computer before uploading them.
  17. Wow... and he was using pliers too. Hard core.
  18. He's using them to hold his Glock while he cleans it out.
  19. I've done quite a bit of reading on the Kel-Tecs and it seems like owners fall into one of two categories: Those who have had no problems and those who have had nothing but problems. One guy claimed that it was the safest pistol that he owns. So safe that half the time it wouldn't go off even if he wanted it to.
  20. The new Walther PPS looks like a much better alternative to the KelTec and other "cheap" pocket pistols with questionably reliability. http://www.waltheramerica.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=13152&storeId=10002&productId=60535&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=44304&isFirearm=Y http://www.waltheramerica.com/wcsstore/Walther/upload/other/PPS_BROCHURE.pdf http://www.gunsandammomag.com/ga_handguns/waltherthin_091807/
  21. I believe that the new law supersedes this.
  22. I can't help but noticed that there are some sections of metal without holes in them.
  23. Gander Mountain in Paducah, KY had one in their display case when I was there last week. I got to play with it a bit and really liked what I felt. Very ergonomic. I've been tempted to add one to the collection for a while now.
  24. I take it you've never tried to have that done. It doesn't happen very easily. I know you're being trite but I think anyone who argues that angle should be forced to use a baseball bat to defend themselves while I'm shooting at them.
  25. That's crazy talk there. Don't you know that while the state trusts you to carry your firearm most places, as soon as you set foot onto school property, a municipal park or a restaurant that serves alcohol, you instantly become someone who shouldn't be trusted anymore?
