  1. Funny but inappropriate.
  2. I liked me Glock 23 a lot. If I had kept it, I probably would have saved myself a lot of heartache. I'll probably pick up a G19 sometime sooner or later.
  3. I was just playing. I've had plenty of plastic pistols and most of them worked pretty good for their intended purpose. A 1911 just appeals to me as a more elegant weapon from a more civilized age.
  4. I'm changing my tune. While I would like to have an XD Tactical 9mm for cheap fun, I think my next firearm will be a Springfield TRP Operator in black Armory Kote finish and with a few minor tweaks: Yost-Bonitz rear sight Wilson Combat extended mag release Wilson Combat extended beavertail safety Action worked over by a competent 1911 armorer All for the sake of shooting USPSA Single Stack instead of Production in 2008.
  5. Yeah, Hero Gear has this book that smells a lot like brimstone and Joe's face kind of gets a little red whenever he opens it up and adds someone's name to it on the "1911 Owners" page. It's spooky... but really freaking cool at the same time in a sort of maniacal way.
  6. And you're totally billing him for the difference on my trade too, right? Air Force tax?
  7. It's far better to settle for mediocrity than ever take a chance and leap toward excellence... because... you might miss. Wait, that's the moral we're supposed to take from this thread right? Oh, sorry... I thought we were talking about plastic guns again.
  8. Who is your typical customer? That will affect my answer quite a bit.
  9. Yes to both. An unloaded gun is pretty useless. Just an expensive hammer at that point.
  10. Welcome. Defect from the North and join us down here in God's Country.
  11. I had one of those but traded it off for a Lorcin because of the risk of collateral damage.
  12. Ok, remind me to never shake hands with Tower at one of these meets. And Tower, you can't shoot your pistol very well if you've got both hands stuffed down the front of your pants.
  13. I have new signature material thanks to this thread.
  14. So much nicer looking than a flintlock.
  15. Very good course of action. Good luck with the gun search!
  16. You had me at mutherf****. My J-frame recommendation was definitely to look at one as an option, not that she rush out and buy it. I tried to find a ball and cap flintlock that was pocket portable, but I couldn't.
  17. I've had mixed feelings about it. Maybe my Spidey Sense isn't as well honed as yours. Still, we need to have our edited posts ready. Somewhere in here we need to make sure that Rabbi makes a post explaining that he's not a nice older Jewish gentleman but a raving gang banger who only stops sending lead at the police long enough to pillage the Gentiles. OH! And he's really pissed that Magpul hasn't released the Masada assault rifle yet because, well... duh... Masada. "This time, it's personal. Oy."
  18. You know... if "she" turns out to be a reporter, we all need to go back and edit our posts so that we are advocating open carry and shooting people in the face when they knock on our door to tell us about Jesus. Because that's what gun owners do, don't you know?!?!?
  19. Rabbi, you'd be happy to hear that I recommended a J-Frame revolver to her as she stated that she is interested in a firearm that she can carry in her coat pocket if need be. That and some female shooters have problems manipulating the slide and loading rounds into magazines on automatics. See? Wheel guns aren't just for Jewish dudes anymore.
  20. What? I'm not leading! I'm staying behind whoever takes point so they can get shot first!
  21. There's not much to know about the Nashville chapter at this point. If you live close to Memphis, Knoxville or Chattanooga you stand a better chance of getting something out of your local chapter.
  22. I'm not going to schedule it around a gun show. We've tried to organize these things before and have found that we'll never find a day and time that works for everyone and doesn't conflict with something else for at least one person. If folks want to eat with us and then head over to Williamson Co. for the gun show rather than go shooting, that is certainly another option for them.
  23. I think we can all agree that she #1 needs to be equipped to protect herself and #2 should seek professionally lead instruction on what to use, how to use it, when to use it and get the permit to carry it. Whatever "it" is has become fairly academic at this point right? Unless it's a 1911, and then she'll have God on her side too.
  24. Saturday December 8th (2007) at 11:30am Famous Dave's BBQ in Smynra, TN Click here for map and driving directions We will meet for lunch at Famous Dave's in Smyrna. After lunch we will head to the On Target indoor shooting range in Murfreesboro,TN (click for map) to get in some range time. I would expect that we will arrive at On Target somewhere around 2:00pm and be there for a couple of hours. I would remind everyone that Famous Dave's does serve alcohol for on-premises consumption. When you arrive at Famous Dave's, the party will be seated under the name "T G O" ... so you can ask the hostess to be seated with us, or you can just look for me sporting the green TGO ball cap. See you there!
  25. So yeah, um... this is going well.
